i just remove the n/b heatsink, cleaned the default thermal pad and reapplied with as5. Then, mod the spring fitting abit... too bad, cant see the temp improved. need to search for 40mm fan now.

talking about the reappling as5 on my n/b yesterday, i just did an oc-ing and found out that it improved my oc result from 465x7(3255MHz) to 475x7(3325MHz) thumbup.gif bruce.gif with 1.425vcore

prime stable for 1hour+
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

so, i tried with higher fsb - 480, weird thing happen, it hang. I reduse the fsb to 479, no luck.
Then, i tried 476fsb, guess what, still hang when at the post screen. Incresed vcore from 1.425v to 1.5v, not helping at all. Changed other setting vMCH, vFSB etc, still the same.

I dont think its the voltage problem, so i reduse the vcore to 1.4v, vFSB to +0.1, vMCH to +0.1, and now priming @ 475x7(3325MHz). Stable for 13minutes so far.

If redusing the voltage can stable the speed @ 475fsb, why still it wont go over 475fsb even more voltage applied? Proc limitation?

Wish me luck for not proc limitation sleep.gif

I actually fitted a 50mm fan ontop of it, still temperature is very high. The tension on the spring is very low la, can pull out the heatsink easily. Will try to remount it with AS5 and see how it goes, btw what is your NB temperature?Mine reaching 50c this hot afternoon  sweat.gif
*
haha... gv you a hint, go search for vr zone 6600gt mod, there is a guide to tighten the spring using nuts laugh.gif i used the same concept on my chipset's heatsink.

edited : where to see the n/b temp anyway? i used core temp to view my core temp.

Looks like your E6300 is similar to mine. I could run 24/7 at 472FSB easily but anything higher will be totally unstable. Upping Vcore or anything else doesn't help either...
However, this was with the TForce P965 DLX.
So I tested it on Asus P5W64 WS PRO and 3.4GHz was stable. However, the problem with that mobo was i975 chipset which doesn't like high FSB as the P965 chipset. I believe my proc can go a little higher on P5B DLX or something...
*
Miracle happened, now priming @ 480x7(3360MHz). What I did? I just now stop booting until it wont freeze in the BIOS post screen. The success rate is 1/10.

edited : all setting remain the same, except vMCH +0.2

I still not get acually whats the problem. Maybe its the chipset that causing this headache.

Im newbie in OC C2D.. i tried OC my E6300 with BIOS. Push FSB to 400 and proc clock at 2.8ghz. Then i stop already. If i wanna go beyond tht wht else should i do ??
Got forumer teach me to +0.2vDimm.. is that correct??

2nd question.  I use Super PI and GO-ORTHOS Beta to test stabability. But i dunno how to evaluate the score. Can some OC pros please tell me how to evaluate score please.
Thanks.
*
increase the fsb until it not stable, then balu add the voltage

SP2004 is used to test your system stability, you jsut need to run it for 24hours. If it dont crash/reboot, means your system can consider stable lor...

For SPI its a benchmarking tool. The lesser second yuo get, the better.

can tell me which should i add volt after unstable occur please. How much the limit is..

for my case, I increased vFSB -> vMCH -> vCore
vDimm only applied when your ram not stable
