it's 18USD on ebay which i thought to be a bit steep. I also came across a random website selling it for rm12.30.

Just for reference though.

A few favourites of mine. Basic kuru toga only cost about RM10 in KL. Le fat shaker is not easy to find I think.

Funny that my favourite for general writing is the old Mars Tri which I have in 0.5mm and 0.7mm

Another one to look for is Stabilo 3555. Decent for general writing with it metal lead guide. Selling for RM2 only think. It is very light though unlike some of them more expensive mechanical pencils.

I see, will check. I like those that is really dark even without pressing hard when writing.

Then you better go for Ain Stein 0.5mm 4B. They are really smooth and quite hardy for so soft a grade. I do have breakages once in a while because I like to extend the lead out quite a bit.

Pilot shaker come in many shades. The basic one is not made in Japan think but they are not too bad. There are even DrGrip shakers. Them more elaborate builds are made in Japan. I suppose it just depend on the barrel size preference, if you like em slimmer then just go for basic ones laa.... many colors to choose from.

btw guys, if you want to buy Pentel Ain Stein for cheap, go to Popular book store and find those value packs. each pack contains 3 tubes and each of these tubes contain 12 leads.
so total per value pack is 36 leads. best part is the price. each value pack is only rm3.60!
comparing to the usual one tube which contains 40 leads, those costs rm10 iirc.
i know it sounds too good to be true, but the value pack's package had pentel malaysia's office address and details and checking at pentel malaysia's website, these 12 lead tubes are legit.
bought quite a few myself

I suppose you meant them 2B multipacks. The 4B ones are a little difficult to find.

I kinda switch back and forth between the two,
0.5 mm when I want to 'borrow' pencil lead from a friend,
0.7 mm when I don't intend to 'lend' pencil leads to anyone lol.
That being said, I noticed that 0.3 mm pencils are usually significantly more expensive, I wonder if they use a different, more complicated mechanism hmm.gif

Many of them decent mech pencils are dissapearing from the general market. Found a Pentel Graph600 - PG605 yesterday... . Solid for the price. Not pocket safe though. That is the price one has to pay if want no wobble...

of course. it is softer than 4B. but i prefer 2B because of it's balance between it's lifespan and hardness. plus it's easier to find 2B anywhere since it's a standard and i don't want to have inconsistent darkness to my note writing.
that or i'm just too lazy to search for any tongue.gif

well that's just me.

These two are still availabe. Pilot H-325 and Pentel Graph600. Nonretractable lead sleeve so they are no wobble whatsoever depending on lead used.

My best guess is that these are old stock.

Something that I have just discovered, these are best used with the clip removed. The clean design make it so. The pentel tends to roll about without the clip tho.
