The motherboard is integrated with the chipset and other component, the lightning will not just spoil the LAN port, it is not worth to repair. Resolder can be done in any electrical shop, but I believe the resolder will not help.

Hi all, just wanted to share on my experience where all of a sudden that the Q16 stopped to work with the error message coming out Unfortunately, Himedia Launcher has stopped.
1) Issue is caused by launcher updating via internet and it even if you reflash the firmware and reconnect to the internet it will reoccur again

2) Obtain from Nicety the in Skydrive on howto to reinstall launcher to Simple UI. Download the ADB and follow the instructions

3) Once the Simple UI launcher is working then the issue should be resolved.

4) Note this was tested based on experience on Q16 dual core only.

can actually I still use my Q5 via wireless but it would cause delayed...but new Q5 is tempting..

Do you have access to Nicety Onedrive link? You will need to able to access it to obtain the required files to fix it. There is a guide in the skydrive on how to change the Launcher to Simple UI

Is there a new firmware for Q16 Dual Core, the latest i saw from the Onedrive is 1.0.9 which has the issue as well

There's no issue with the firmware, the launcher corrupted is due to the file being modified. Reformat with firmware basically reinitialised the box to factory default.

i have had that since months ago!

using apex laucnher.

but i ignore it, just click the message away.

does not affect anything else.

i update to firmware 304, same message with apex launcher.



nicety, the message remains if i use another launcher; only way to get rid of it is to use simple UI or default?

To switch to Simple UI, you need some technical step as per guide in the skydrive "Convert MG Launcher to Simple UI Launcher.pdf".

P/S: The above issue shared by blue1ce is new incident just happen few days ago, it might not affect you because you use 3rd party launcher. It affect most of the model using MG launcher.

i remember the ui coversion, did that once before.

my other q5ii went blank last night. flashed and resinstalled everything.

this time, cannot set apex as default, mg launcher remains.

can only use one-key access to get to apex.

looks ok now but afraid it will persist unless i do the simple ui process.

will there be a new firmware soon for all affected models so that there is no need to go thru simple ui?

I try to simulate the problem today and noticed HDP Live has been blocked by Anti Spyware. To isolate the issue, please temporary not to install HDP Live for the moment.



Regarding the Simple UI launcher, I have requested the same last Friday to Himedia. I am mot sure they are willing to give me the Simple UI APK, until now no response from Himedia engineer.

i actually reinstalled HDP live on Q16 today, works OK.

but as u already said, if using 3rd party launcher, no problem - that's the case for me.

HDP live is very useful - good for Thomas Cup and coming Euro Cup - in HD!

OK, will avoid using HDP on Q5ii.

As i recently upgraded firmware, on video output setting, should set it as 1080p 50hz or higher?

set it as high as your tv can take it.

if it cannot take, q16 will reject.

q16 with 4k tv can be set to 2160p, 24 or 30hz.

depending on video, 2160p 24hz may not work well.

Dear Customers,

Firmware 304 available in the skydrive, this firmware mainly fix some User Interface, therefore it is not necessary to apply the firmware unless you face major interface issue.

Please take note of the below if you plan to apply new firmware :
1). After apply the firmware, the box will auto reboot. The reboot will take some time and you see the black screen. Please be patient and leave the box load until finish. The loading might take 5 minutes or more.

2). The language selection will prompt for first time after the above reboot, please wait for the language selection screen before you start using the box.

3). If you found any irregularity after apply the firmware, please repeat to flash the box using recovery button.

like to report something on this 304.

some videos will by default come out full screen when they should be 16:9.

need to correct this using remote's menu, quite full screen.

the problem is it returns to same when u power off, does not stay.

303 did not have this issue.

hope himedia will correct it with next firmware.
