actually I don't like to work in Singapore, traffic jam, kiasu people, expensive rental, walk walk now here to sit, high work performance and hot weather. Many people complain Malaysia here inefficient and lazy but got benefit also I don't have to work so hard.

Reason why i am considering Singapore is because my very close friend, got promotion to SG. I don't like long distance relationship. I was thinking if can work singapore this few years, godwillingly, at least I can plan overseas trips with my partner because of 2.5.
*
Before u start work. U already condemn singapore. So u better stay back where u r now. It is not a good idea to stuck in traffic jam, work with kiasu people, pay expensive rental, high work load n performance, hot weather too. U still can bring your partner to holiday even if u r not working in singapore.

If u want to bow to the 2.5, then u got to start working n not complaining as it ll makes u miss the daedline in your work.

ok i change my mind, maybe have to go for partner.

have to love deadline, have to love traffic jam, have to love to pay expensive rental, have to love high performance n workload, have to love weather and have to love kiasu people because love partner.
*
U dont have to force yourself. U must know how to adapt to a new environment n learn how to like your new job new place. Or else, u only making trouble for yourself n your work performance ll be affected.

Dont label singapore people as kiasu as if u r not being one.

traffic jam - work graveyard shift, stay next to office (if tanjong pagar how lor, got apartment nearby?) this is assume u work at tanjong pagar....if not, then???

kiasu - if u can't beat them, join them (ok I become Mr Kiasu) even u join as a kiasu, that doesnt entitle to label others as kiasu

expensive rental - buy a roof then But if i buy roof they may fine me for no permit u can buy a roof in singapore if u got the money. do u?

walk walk now here to sit - ??? Bus stop no place to sit mah then dont take bus, take taxi, lots of people taking taxi too.

high work performance - self improvement is bad? If kena high blood pressure? I seen singaporean relative get stroke/high blood pressurehot in malaysia no high blood pressure? if worries too much, can always opt for a low pay job.

weather - back in m'sia it is not hot?! because malaysia can drive car got air cond. But also good la, because walk to mrt station, can exercise and stay slim. By the way, all singaporeans don't have obesity problem, so far not seen one, maybe because they walk a lot? Got good health advantages, some more got many parks to exercise in singapore, u also can drive a car, why not buy a car and it also can brings u from point A to point B n same comfort as in malaysia.

Eh? I thought Singapore is high performance, how come you can still surf lyn at working hour?  hmm.gif maybe not to high performance after all. Maybe got SG people can slack one

buy a car in Spore? what is that thing call? I forgot. On top of the cost of the car, have to pay vehicle permit right? Expensive to own car in Spore and if i not mistaken that is if your application is approved?

taxi expensive so no choice but to opt for free exercise. Must love Singapore. Also every time take the taxi, the taxi driver very kepo want to talk talk banyak.
*
To you in malaysia can surf lowyat mean poor or low performance? Anyway, am not in Singapore now. Surfing lowyat in a hotel room actually.

Buy car in singapore needs COE. My arrival into singapore many years ago, the first 2 weeks, i drove my malaysia car into Singapore and the 3rd weeks onwards, i got a S plate car as i driving back into Malaysia everyweek. Yes, it is not cheap for driving in Singapore but if you want the comfort of getting from door to door, you got to pay some premiums for it.

Taxi is expensive. But if you are earning S$10k, taxi fees should be an affordable expenses for you. You dont have to be everyday take taxi as you can occassionally slot in some time for taking the mrt or bus if you wake up early or not in a rush. Even go cars, when we go out drinking, we ll still park the car at home and take taxi instead.

no la, i say if can surf in lyn, mean you have a lot of free time? haha, just joking.

But anyway you say you in hotel.

Yes thats the one, COE. But there is good reason for having it, or else SG traffic will be worst like Penang. Anyways, at least gahmen make effort to have bicycle lanes and the parks are very bicycle friendly. I like riding bicycle. In Malaysia very hilly and dangerous because lots of cars. In SG bicycle lane all flat.

Parking also expensive right? But in Singapore, during rush hours, sometime you want to get taxi also cannot, call the taxi also don't want to come. Very similar to Malaysia. Dunnowhether SG got Uber or not.
*
peak hour as u said. tolerate lor as everybody also wants to get home mah. If u can, u can stay back at office like some of my colleagues. Our company also provide shuttle bus to the nearest mrt station too n it only takes about 5-10 minutes bus ride only. but u got to Q up for the shuttle bus. Many companies do provide this shuttle service.

parking is expensive but is part and parcel of driving a car in singapore. Remember that u r earning the S$ and you dont calculate in RM when u spending it. When u get use to singapore life n earning 10k, i bet u ll be driving a car.

LTA should really ban cyclists going on the road. Scratched my car at Raffles then run away without stopping, point finger some more. Dumb enough to do that wearing his sport tshirt with name and company behind his back. Went to TP, file a report with car camera and whack the guy up and down with option to civil suit or settle until satisfied. Power of free legal service from office.

i also got once nearly hit a cyclist....out of no where, suddenly at the corner, a cyclist shot out and i got to jam brake and he looked at me and pretend like nothing and cycled away.......at jalan buroh.

Bullish market, expect big year end bonus coming. I work 2 jobs, and got a 3rd job recently. Cook my meals, travel back to Malaysia, stay and eat at my parents' place during the weekends to save cost. All this to pay for COE, ABSD, installments for my tenants so they can have a comfy place to stay. If got extra money left, go back Malaysia jack up the property price, push the inflation high so the local would suffer and less attractive to go back for our own.
*
You one able body took away 3 jobs....no wonder the locals crying no more jobs left for them....

Worry so much for what? Wanna come then apply job and come, get offer first and worry about the rest later. If you are elite enough you shouldn't have any problem getting a ~120k+++ pa offer; at that price range for Malaysian, no need to worry about work pass approvals and all that.
*
Ya ya....singapore govt ll roll out red carpet to welcome u at the airport if u r elite...unless u just competing for those low level executive job, then u got to worry the rejection of pass or work permit.

I moved to SG after 5 years exp in KL, through cable method. From KL worked on some projects with SG boss; then when a vacancy opened up he pulled me over. Pay in SGD was 1.07:1.00 ratio to MYR.
*
Yup. Me too. Same scenario as yours. Only the the salary cant get the ratio u have.
