Why not go for the Civic?

Sylphy is dull on the interior and exterior that's why hardly see it otr

Buyers go for Altis, HRV and Civic instead

I think it is worth at least price wise and for locality. I am staying at Bagan Datuk and the only number available is 215. I can't hunt for 205 as the original one. And many choice, no point buy expensive one for Bagan Datuk road usage.

I upgraded mine to 215, FC went up a little bit. Acceleration also reduced but overall comfort is slightly better. Its honestly up to you.

My father recently bought a test drive Sylphy 1.8cc car and he loves the car. A very comfy and fuel efficient C segment car. Luckily he picks this over those overprice / over rated Altis , HRV and Civic.

Hi Cifus,

Need some suggestions.. My Sylphy needs absorber replacement and engine mounting 4pcs replacement too.

2 places I check .. varies a lot in prices. Any idea why or they just hike up the price. They are not TCEAS.

Shop1
Front absorber 265x2 = 530 (kayaba recommended)
Front absorber mounting 265X2 = 530
Front absorber link rod 120x2 = 240
Total -> 530+530+240 = 1,300

Engine mounting 4pc = 1500 + GST + labour

Shop2
Front absorber 220x2 = 440 (nissan ori)
Front absorber mounting 100X2 = 200
Front absorber link rod 85x2 = 170
Total -> 440+200+170 = 810 + 120 (labour) + 56 (28*2 wheel alignment) = 986 + 120 = 1,106

Engine mounting 4pc = 1255 + GST?? + labour??

Nissan Malaysia already stopped Nissan Sylphy.

Now the second-hand price for 2014 is around 60k. Is it still worth to buy a second-hand Sylphy? Any common issues? Xtronic gearbox ok?

Avoid Sylphy at all cost. Owned one for a year and sold it cause the numerous issues it gave me.

Paint chipped all over due to lacquer process problem, tiktok sound when turning steering and changed 3 times till TC gave up and said it design fault, boot became fish tank and worst was gearbox jamned.

All the best

owned a sylphy since oct'08 and below are some of the problems i've faced so far:

1. paint chip all over the body, TC resprayed whole car
2. steering coupling changed twice due to rattling sound..so far so good
3. gb pin broke and make my car stalled
4. driver seat belt sensor spoilt, replaced under warranty
5. dashboard "pimple" problem, replaced whole dashboard
6. slight roar sound esp climbing slope (yet to complain)
7. sylphy word "Y" at the rear can be easily broken during car wash

I owned the previous generation year 2007 Nissan Sylphy 2.0 bought new and sold it in 2012. I am aware there are some criticism on the car but I have nothing but good words on the quality and performance of the vehicle. It's surely a good car to me and I can surely recommend it based on performance and comfort. It's a very comfortable car in terms of long-distance cruising (nice soft and plush leather seats) and the comfort soft-tuned suspension whereby you don't feel the knocks and bumps too much when going over imperfections on the road surface.

There are not much negatives apart from the shape of the car which is a little old-fashioned (the latest Sylphy model looks more modern with the Teana-like shape) and the quality of interior which is also a little old-fashioned with the wooden strips. But in terms of comfort it is ahead of the Honda Civic and even the Accord to me due to the plush leather seats and soft suspension. Toyota Camry's leather seats are harder and dont' feel as comfortable as the soft and plush leather seats of the Sylphy.

Sometimes I hope car manufacturers concentrate more on the finer aspects of the car especially with family sedans, particularly on the leather seats. I have not tried many cars but in my experience so far I have not experienced a car with a softer and plusher seats than the Nissan Sylphy in the price range of RM170k and below. All Honda, Toyota and Mazda cars have harder leather seats which are not as comfortable. But for more performance orientated cars which concentrate more on handling particularly Mazda, the seats cannot be too soft anyway. But for family cars which are comfort-orientated, softer leather seats are surely more welcome.

Indeed, my worst car ownership ever. Bought new that time.

Since then I've owned a Camry for 6 years with basically zero issues, just sold it and got myself a 530E beemer

Looking at b17 used. Wondering how's the car behaved for the past few years? Common problems?
