But then you do have raw denim which aren't selvedge as well.
I can see where you're coming from with the whole selvedge thing. But I just have to disagree sometimes especially in recent years. Selvedge has become sort of a fashion accessory, and you have tons of selvedge coming out which aren't up to par and clearly inferior to even non-selvedge raws. Shouldn't we focus on the fabrics instead in this case? It's easy to make selvedge fabric, but not everyone gets the denim heritage right. i also understand where u stand on this particular topic. However, we are focusing on the fabric itself and the fabric coincidently named selvedge. Raw is one thing and selvedge is another. raw can or cant be selvedge, and selvedge does not mean its raw (thou most of the people i know seems to love their selvedge raw).
beside one of the objective of this thread is to educate and giving information to people about raw and selvedge denim in general. im sure there are thousands of brands using selvedge fabric as their so called fashion accessories but how many of them stay that way?
i dont see selvedge as a fashion accessories at all. I bet most of it over here are too. i wear selvedge denim because i appreciate the fact that producing a selvedge denim is kindda unique and a bit hard since there are not many shuttle loom that made selvedge denim available anymore. furthermore, i appreciate the dying processes of the fabric itself, the way the fabric feels and the durability of the selvedge.
sure sometime the topic a bit derailed because some of the forummers asking about non selvedge and raw denim related stuff and yeah if other poster can give sort of info about the related denim.. then why not? mainly its going to focus more about raw and selvedge denim. either cheap or expensive, the poster who have information regarding it will provide information and we share the information together.
beside producing selvedge denim is quite expensive and the quantity of the denim produced is much-much lower than the usual projectile loom. im talking about the real selvedge here and not the one that patches the selvedge on the denim just to look cool lol!
as for cutting and stuff, i think we also covered that topic, be it ur regular denim or raw and selvedge denim.
