Hi everyone, i'm interested to buy a new M3. I've did some research over the internet but couldn't get much owner's feedback on this car. Can anyone introduce this M3 for pros and cons besides the official info?

pros
superb looking
good handling
powerful car
comes with ieloop and istop
comes with comand knob and 7" screen (mazda connect)

cons
loud road noise
might have knocking sound when going on bumps and uneven roads
many features are removed compared to overseas unit
eg : leather seat, reverse sensor, camera, auto dim rearview mirror, hud, dual zone climate control, auto cruising

Read the forum in m3club.

Only appear once and few times. Don't think is a major failure.

Thanks bro for highlighting.

I also wanna know anyone heard a squeaky sound when you unlock the car in driver side? I got.

So overall, ok to go?
i agreed with you with all the pros, that's why i'm choosing it. however, the new skyactiv technology, so far any kacau with it? will this easy to maintain in long term?
for the cons, loud road noise might due to the 18 inch rim? the knocking sound i guess it can be fixed, it will be a minor issue?
not sure for the issue for playing song of 150 above will hand the lcd head unit...anyone have that happened?

for those features they have cut it, i guess it can be changeable for some of it right? camera, auto dim. leather seat they are giving free as 1 promotion...

* anyway, what is the current best offer they can give right now?

Dun think anyone will know if skyactiv hv any issue in long run cause its a new engine. The m6 recall is due to some spidernweb thing. I think if those features is there then the m3 is best for da segment except space n tyre noise. U can look for bro lucifal for offer. Standard offer by bermaz is leather upgrade or 2k rebate. Not sure if nappa leather still available. Anyone know hows the sales after official launched?

Possibly issue with the alternator or capacitor that stored electric power in the I-eloop function....lately did you do any wiring work to your car?

Since it is still under warranty, send back to SC la...(Take picture to show).

Anothe pro thing I found for this new M3: The power accelleration it gave is very responsive when each gear level change, be it auto or manual.

Good driving plealure! Definitely is a 'driver' car rather than a 'passenger' car...haha!

That issue could could be related to heavy rain yesterday
That is my bro car and Mazda said still can run but the car just stalled not long ago. Can't start and all indicators ate on in the dashboard. Able to start back after Turn off eloop and 10 minutes of wait.

Confirmed there might be problem, Mazda is now recalling their units:

http://m.autoblog.com/2014/04/04/mazda-rec...for-ecu-glitch/

Please let all your SA know about it so that they can tell BERMAZ to get in touch with MAZDA Japan. And send the new Program for software upgrade.

Then all the owner can make appointment with SC to have the software upgrade.

He called the service center directly after the indicator lights up and they said shouldn't be a problem and still can drive.
Thankfully this was not stalled on the highway and he going to complain this directly to manager

*
The recall on the Mazda6 is not the current GJ version. It was for the previous GH version.

QUOTE(ppldmc @ Apr 6 2014, 11:41 AM)
Anothe pro thing I found for this new M3: The power accelleration it gave is very responsive when each gear level change, be it auto or manual.

Good driving plealure! Definitely is a 'driver' car rather than a 'passenger' car...haha!
*
Mazda cars have always been driver centric. smile.gif

QUOTE(calapia @ Apr 7 2014, 03:28 PM)
hey bro wanna ask, the servicing do we need to comply with the month or the mileage? cause i travel often so i can't hit that much of mileage before the service due date..
*
If cannot hit mileage, then service go by month.

that article says it could be due to the heavy rain.
"According to Mazda USA spokesperson Beverly Braga, the control program in the ECU designed to protect the capacitor the energy is stored in is “reacting hyper sensitively when the alternator belt gets wet and slippage occurs”. This can affect acceleration and in severe cases cause the engine to stall."

main thing is the mazda service centre said to ignore the warning and the car still runable. fortunately no accident happen or else mazda will surely get sued

the car is one of the first batch(got it right after CNY) and together with heavy rain these few days, i think is better to send to mazda just to be safe.

maybe in the meanwhile just turn off the i-eloop until you had it checked.

Pls TAKE NOTE......the rear boot spoiler comes with self adhesive double sided tape.....when install GS would also apply the silicone similar like they normally used for windscreen installation......iMO just double sided tape would be enuf......no need to put the silicone....might damage the rear boot painwork should u decide to remove it in near future

Thanks for the update.

But can't find a reason to take it out, unless change to GT wing type... Which... Not suit the car.

All past...present and future mazda cars accessories was and will be supplied by GS to BERMAZ....they have been doing this for ages....therefore, the rear boot spoiler for the CKD mazda3 models will be based from what was installed to my car just now. Even the leather seats that they currently do for us also supplied by them.

I don't have this issue but sometimes, it restarts itself.

Also, today use the Navi, it restarts itself frequently.

hi, mine infotainment totally blacked out. 1st time happen before 1k service. SC glenmarie reset only. 2 weeks later, happened again.. this time they do wiring check- no fault. so just update infotainment software to latest. so far nearly 1 week later still ok. if happen 3rd time, probably change the whole infotainment set? probably.. seems its a known problem oversea... managed to get copy of the troubleshooting procedure sheet.. later post the pic.. (i was the 1st to complain/refer at glenmarie, 2nd person made appointment for next week..).. sad.gif

Wait for CKD. Probably cost RM125k for 2.0

But I tell you. There is a difference between CKD and CBU.

Recently, every time driving out, try to figure out where is the rattling sound come from. Don't know is from my dash board or from my ambi pure/smart tag/car key...

Anyone successfully update the navigation? Every time drive through pg 2nd bridge, the map shows cross over the sea instead of a road doh.gif

Scratched and chipped a bit of paint off the front left bumper last night, wrongly estimated the height of the curb sad.gif

It's not major, but noticeable and would like to minimise the damage if possible - any advice on what I should do?

A front camera?

Cannot avoid these nicks and knacks on the body for a daily driver.

I meant in terms of minimising the visible damage - will a polish work or could I get it touched up? If yes, where should I go?

Would love a front camera/sensor, I don't think GS is carrying any such accessories yet though for the 2014 M3?

Depends. Got a pic? if it's gone too deep (which I suspect it is since you mentioned a rub against the curb), then you need to respray which I think not so practical because they will also be other times you get stone chips etc.

If it's just light surface scruffs, you can polish it out.

The cheaper option would be installing front sensors. If not wrong, about RM 400 to 500 for 4 sensors. GS does sell original Mazda front sensor accessory and can paint it to your body colour. I'm lucky that my Mazda6 already has this. Just don't expect it to interface with the front LCD screen.

Even then sometimes these front sensors cannot detect low curbs that can do these

shocking.gif then how ah? U repaint it n claim insurance?

Some info on m3 soul red
http://www.mazda-news.eu/2013/03/13/about-...metallic-color/

I think we need share where can get the paint job done. Or any diy available for the soul red. The best is back to m3 centre for paint job.

I quoted to repaint and haze the whole bumper only RM350. So not worth to claim insurance. Plus, the damage area is at bottom. I have DIY to push back the bumper in place tongue.gif

Insurance took 2 weeks to get approval..

Quoted 10,400 (a set of Headlamps alone cost 3.5k ).. and bermaz said anything above 10k, needs to get insurance approval before they can touch it..

Wait for parts to arrive, about 2 weeks from Japan.. then fix it + repainting, about this coming week only can get..

A full month without my car.. and the feeling of getting it back is more excited than getting it the first time. Lol..

First ever krodo m3 to enter factory in Malaysia i was told.. sad.gif

bro...
wondering what would be the case for spare parts if they are commonly found here ?
i mean if after few years car, if anything happens and needs a replacement, will that be easy as easier to get the spare part in market ? or it is very rare in malaysia still ?
thanks

Any 1 pump BHP petrol here for their m3 skyactiv? Saw an old news saying that BHP using Euro 3-4 petrol imported from SG, wondering will it be more efficient & cleaner by using in the high compression ratio+direct injection engine.

For the Mazda color reference, owners can refer to HERE regardless of Gen 1, 2 or 3.

Slightly better performance and acceleration.

Price should be around Rm210 or lesser. I bought mine from him. Installation can be DIY, just "plug & play". And no, it won't void warranty. For the Skyactive, the part no. should be 33-2480

I have this issue as well and immediately ask for RHS armbush replacement during my 1k service, but SC said that bermaz deny my request by saying apply grease would solve the problem. Bermaz has send an instruction list to SC n guide them how to fix it, apparently they put the grease at the lower arm, the problem is gone but I still can hear some sound during big bump and rainy day, small bump no problem.

Oh btw , I did it @ Mazda sg besi, good service there.

hi all, GS no longer have the old model of central lock (break lock) - RM 380.
now they provide new model which costing us RM 450.
do you think is it necessary to install that? RM 450 for process of manual lock.

what's your opinion?

I notice the hood of this car is rather long, which is definitely a beautiful sight. However the car's nose (tip of the car to the front tyre) is also long. Is there a risk of the bottom of the front bonnet scrapping the road when you are driving down the car park ramp or simply any road with which has a steep descent, and you certainly find many of these steep descending roads and car park in Malaysia.

Just went to Mazda sg besi and 'revived' my infotainment by reset the battery, apparently they don't have the latest version V29 with them. Suggest whoever want the latest version go straight to glenmarie sc.

So dun park under direct sunlight. Avoid day time long exposure to sun. Best only drive at night. Then confirm no sound tongue.gif

so conclusion, treat it as weekend car... lol

I have some questions below relate to I-Eloop; hope the expert here can help.

1) I-eloop is using a capacitor to store the energy (breaking), it then transform into electricity and supply to the interior usage example like air-cond, central console.. etc. Is this true??

2) What is the life cycle of the capacitor ? Some reviewer stated that it can be fully charged if breaking within 10 sec. If so, the capacitor work load is quite heavy especially during our daily traffic jam.

3) Can we assume replacement of capacitor is a lot more cheaper compare battery from hybrid car ? But does anyone know how much to be exact ?

4) If the capacitor is kong, can we still drive the car like normal by disable this feature ?

5) During the test drive, i discover that the air-conditioning is running normal and weak alternatively, according to sales this is due to the I-eloop supplying to air-cond, it help you to save fuel, but don't you feel familiar how people talk about honda hybrid car ? Honestly i feel quite annoyed. Any opinion and is this true ?

Cheers

Here you find most of the answer:
http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2011/11/m...or-to-save-gas/

http://www.mazda.com/technology/env/i-eloop/index.html

http://www.mazda.com/technology/env/i-stop/index.html

But, not the replacement part.....we need to ask SC about the cost of Capacitor. Can we change it FREE before the 3yr warranty end? hmm.gif

Sent my car to service... found out few things.
1 lower arm bush is known by bermaz but forbid parts change n only grease it. Issue might come back in few months. Not sure then we should re grease or change parts
2 the ieloop ecu flash available but not recommended for those without issue
3 changed to full synthetic oil as recommended by sc for skyactive engine.

YES, free maintenance includes Engine Oil, Service parts & Labor.

You can also opt for upgrade from Semi Synth to Fully Synth by just topping up.

Recommended to do Wheel Alignment & Balancing every 10k km.

Stick with original rim & tyre size, I guess the meter/range/milege calculation is base on the it. Fuel consumption might be affected as well.... hmm.gif

Just back from sg besi service centre. Went there twice today due to the arm thing. The grease not working as the sound still there. Sc will help submit report to bermaz to order parts for replacement. Will take around 2-3 weeks.

Rattling sound solved.

Upgrded to fully synthetic and need to top up 200plus as discount from bermaz only cover 160. Can feel difference when I drive. Aside that no other charge.

Hi everyone! I just signed up today biggrin.gif I have to say... I kinda envy you guys for being able to own the new Mazda 3, I was planning to buy one but unfortunately Brunei only has one spec (1.5, no infotainment, BND28,900 roughly~RM70k) and this is a deal-breaker for me sad.gif If you look at the pic, it looks so... kosong cry.gif Idk, I'm still thinking whether I should just go ahead and buy Mazda 3 or wait for Mazda2/2014 Civic, anyways, I hope Mazda 2 specs for Brunei isn't so disappointing.

215/45/18 is odd size, not many place have T1R available, i asked bout 4 shops d

definitely changing 17" wheels next round, too pain to change all 4 tyres

+ stock wheels are heavy, 26.8lbs per wheel w/o tyre

Damn empty. But RM70k seems a good price though.. unsure.gif

model is 215/45/18 Dunlop SP Maxx TT
not sure trade in price, nvr trade in new tyres before, i guess u would still need to topup
tyre is one factor of the noise, but the car insulation is not very good also, engine is loud

if trade price not good, suggest u str8 change to 17" rims better, lighter wheels, better FC~

Installed something for my front hood. Engine noise reduced + less heat hence protect the hood.

I think this is the SA , he owned the Mazda 6/cx5/mazda 3 accessories group in fb.

Recently tried BHP 97 , felt underpower , Shell V power 97 definitely better , going to try V power racing next pump.

I think the claim FC achievable only on 100% highway 90-110km/h. My FC now 9.3L/100km 100 city drive. Previously 8.3L/100km 70% city 30% highway. My honda city 09 doing 8.9L/100km , I'm happy enough it achieve almost the result considering it was 1.5 vs 2.0.

Maybe to achieve the claim FC is to maintain RPM below 2k all the time and to never turn on the aircond . lol

Guys, i've pm the guy who provide installation for auto dimming mirror. He claimed that the stock he had is OEM, RM 600. Original genuine need RM 1500.

Regarding warranty void, he claimed that it won't void because no wiring. But my SA advice is better go back to GS.

So what say you?? Perhaps anyone who had done this can share more info...warranty and free maintenance still under coverage?

My guess is that the OEM products he has is kind of 'plug and play'.....

1) Reverse Camera - if you notice at your car boot, beside the open button (just above the number plate), there is one empty slot 'waiting' there for you to plug in the Camera.....most likely all cable/wiring is already built-in. Just plug the OEM Camera will do....

2) Auto Dimming Mirror - if you also notice just behind the Sunglass casing, there is a long straight 'hole'...I believe inside there also built in some power socket for you to plug in additional Electrical gadget (supply electric power)....hence you can install the OEM Auto Dimming mirror....Plus...on your left seat under the compartment at the door arm, there is one plastic cover...may be here is where all the wiring connecting to the batteries.... ??

2.0cc car 8.8l/100km in 100% city (KL/PJ ??) Is very impressive. Most 2.0cc stuck in jam will be 11l/100km at least. Usually more.

Better if you refer back to GS. Anything related to electronics is better to go to authorized accessories shop to avoid any bad outcome smile.gif

However, there are some items that you install at other places instead of GS

i am exactly same situation as you.... applied grease but sound still there.... i went to SC again and they help me submit report to Bermaz to order parts for replacement. It takes 3 weeks it seems but the SC will call me after a week. so now i am waiting for the SC call. the car is damn awesome once this issue is fixed...
like you said, after rain the sound very obvious...sometimes road uneven also got the sound...

1) tyre = min RM2.1K (Toyo)

2) full body sound proof = min RM 1.3K (but, can start small by DIY adding rubber at door side, around RM200 ++ tongue.gif )

the sound proof part, do it bit by bit. not necessarily to go everything at one shot. but then again, need to identify where the sound is coming from. right?

no auto fold is nice. i riiikkee the electric fold better than auto fold. but most of the accessories has been taken out. which is quite pathethic i`d say. no auto cruise. no auto dim rear mirror. windscreen got auto sensor? but i like the car. maybe a bit sempit. luls.

I saw many evils here..
But truly, i have the same thought initially when u surveying..i'm paying 140k for a spec like this..
But think of another way, do you really need all this like auto cruise (you can train your leg as auto cruise, and city drive you can't even use this); auto dimming mirror (use your hand to flip the mirror up won't need a lots of time); auto fold mirror (same, use your hand to twist the button to fold / unfold b4 you turn off / on the engine)

After all the thought above, i have paid the booking and downpayment..and i'm getting my "little white" tomorrow...
Feeling extreamly excited now !!!

auto cruise dem useful when cruising highways. =)

well, the bad things is, outside m3 has all of the said accessories. too bad bermaz stripped it off when we actually paid higher. =)

but tbh, damn tempting the car! hahahaah! i feel itchy now to swap the old m3 with the new one. revving at 100 over also rpm show slightly above 2k only. fuuu.

i've got 2.38 RHB

my opinion...
CX5 SUV cannot compare...but also ok...ckd price similar m3 cbu...but waiting time around 6 month as of current moment i guess...
Accord...with similar price with m3, u will get kosong 1...with so big size...i think fc will be terrible...same as my camry...1 full tank city drive 350km only.. shakehead.gif
altis out look ok...but dashboard...erm...a bit oldish...

You know, I did survey on M3 and Altis with my colleague girls..

A. My female colleague sit next to me (36 years old):Buy altis. Because Toyota is famous for reliability and more spacious and gives comfortable. hmm.gif

B. My female admin clerk, (38 years old): get altis. Reliable and nice. It suits you. (Like uncle) mad.gif

C. My female subordinate (25 years old): get M3. If you get this car, I'll be happy to sit everyday. blink.gif

D. My female dept secretary (34 years old): get M3. Very stylish. Altis gives stable looks but M3 gives stylish looks. nod.gif

E. My Female Brand Manager (27 years old): get M3. Very geng and very leng. thumbup.gif

So, I get M3.. And my male colleagues all say M3 doesn't fit your look and style. vmad.gif

Coincidently, the first male said M3 doesn't suit me, bought one. doh.gif

I'd still remember how he say the car is stylish and I got no style.. doh.gif

So, I told him, if I see you, I'd say "who the he'll ask you to follow me?"

the sound proof part, do it bit by bit. not necessarily to go everything at one shot. but then again, need to identify where the sound is coming from. right?

Initially, I thought the soul red is normal red metallic.

If you look closely, it do look abit maroon color. If you tricoat it, it looks a bit dark orange color..

No wonder it's expensive.

I wanted a black colour but Brmaz say don't bring because of "bad luck" doh.gif

Derravile,

Bose is only entry level lah.

You got lots of option. JBL, Harman, Infinity (wait.. all are under Harman. tongue.gif)

I did ask my SA, they can arrange your car to go factory to install but heard is very expensive and local don't have the expertise yet.
