Anyway noob question here. When you guys sent your Lumia 930 for service, what do you do with all your personal data in the phone, eg: photos, contacts, messages, whatsapp chat logs, etc? Do you backup and delete all data, or completely factory reset the phone, or anything, before giving to the shop to repair?

Second question, do the service center give any "backup" or temporary phone to you while they repair the phone? tongue.gif cause otherwise I don't have any other phone to use at the moment after I send my phone for repair. My nano sim doesn't fit into my previous phone. Of course I could get a new normal sim, but just out of curiosity. Any other options?

this is what i done when i send in for service.
i copy out all the picture, music or whatsoever you wanted.
if there is nth important or confidenccial, then you can just leave it like that.
they will ask you whether data loss is acceptable?

no, they wont give any "temporary" phone for you to use. i just purchase L532 as temporary phone xD.
FYI, no data loss for the screen error claims. but there might be any incident xD

Thank you for the info. I'm thinking of buying a cheap temporary/backup phone too, looking at Android/Windows phone. But might be going for Windows phone again because I hear alot of feedback saying budget phones running on Windows generally perform better in the long run. Will be going to the new Microsoft store in KLCC to check out their Lumia lineups.

personally i will use back the budget window phone, as there is no need to migrate the phone information at all xD. which save time haha. just need to sign in. when the L930 come back from Claims, you could just continue use it, as it will auto sync. depends on how you setting though xD

Yeah convenience is a plus when it comes to Windows phone, and when you need to switch between Windows phones. There is an app in Windows phone called "Transfer my Data". Whether this works properly when switching from Android to Windows phone I'm not sure, but it's good that the option is there nevertheless. Any recommendation on which latest budget Lumia is currently the best value for money?

Here's what I usually do when I send any phones for warranty claims.

*nothing

Why? All thing that's important to me is uploaded to the cloud automatically and what I left in the phone is something that I can afford to lose; which is the reason why I chose Windows Phone, OneDrive is available out of the box (and appear as local folder) in all of my machine without the need to download and setup this and that...

as for backup phones, I'm the kind of guy who has few phones right now tongue.gif

but, you can just buy few bucks simcard adapter to fit into your old phones rather than spending hundreds for new temporaries... Last time I bought one set of simcard adapters (has every single simcard size from nano -> micro -> normal) for around 20 ringgit iinm

Do you guys restart your phone every few days?

I feel like I need to do so for my phone, seems that the battery readings go kinda crazy for a few charges. Sometimes it drops quite fast after charging even when just idle. Even after restart, 90% drop straight to 82%. However, the readings are normal again though after that.

i do restart my phone once a while.
the best part of my phone is when sometimes you reach the 90% mark, it goes to 100% in matter of seconds

I do restart once in a while. The thing about my phone that I noticed is that the background services tends to go wonky after few days of usage; e.g whatsapp doesn't connect with apps in background or screen off, sms doesn't get sent out or received, missing notifications

the only remedy to that right now is by restarting the phone.

I'm a new Lumia 930 user here with Lumia 640 as my backup phone, living in Ampang and work in KL. Previously used Lumia 925.

I'd like to find Covers, Cases and accessories for my Lumias, where can I find them? It is really hard to find even a screen protector for LUMIAs...

I went around LowYat today, there is no quality flip cases or hybrid cases (like otterbox or incipio).

tskhor on sell back cover which does not protect the upper and lower sides of the phone. But I did buy an IMAK Clear Air Case from him.

I need protection....

I won it from the Microsoft Lumia Malaysia Facebook contest (Find Your Photo and Like). I went to Microsoft (Authorized Reseller) Store Grand Opening on Saturday, and buy a Lumia 640. Let my picture taken by the special photographer there as I wanted to get it printed there immediately.

Only realized there was a contest when I read about the story on Lowyat.Net news on Sunday night.

It read on internet, the official price is USD600 and GP400 which roughly about RM2200.
