sometimes i check lowyat Iphone 6 discussion thread since my wife are using it.. Their thread already V7 wooo... and we are still V1..so sedey sweat.gif and 930 released few month earlier somemore.

I worked at Proton Hq almost 2 years with a thousand of workers and till now I never met anyone using 930 or even low end WP8 doh.gif ...some those pekerja kilang are also using Iphone 6 huhu

MS need to do sumething aggressive marketing here and their phone also quite hard to find on rural area plus the warranty service also bad there.

For me WP is the perfect balance between restricted iOS and the chaos Android.

The Thundermatch promotion is only for members which you have to add in the registration fees (if there's any), but that's crazy low nevertheless..I just bought mine 2 months back for a total of almost RM1800 including 3% charges for cc installment, and I don't get headphones or anything, just the phone, screen protector, a lousy car charger, and a couple of things nobody will ever use. Bought it from DirectD. While I might regret buying it at DirectD at an inflated price, I do not regret my decision of switching to a WP from Android and that too to a 930. This phone is pretty much future-proof. There are a couple of drawbacks in terms of functionality, app gap is a serious problem but one that I can live with as I'm not a download-and-install-freak. All the necessary apps are there. The camera is awesome. UI and UX are awesome. Love the Windows ethos. Will get free Windows 10 update in the future, which in theory should make this phone much better overall.

Apart from the app gap, there's the lack of support from Microsoft especially in Malaysia, lack of accessories focused on 930 let alone Lumia phones let alone Nokia phones nowadays...so there are a few drawbacks...but they aren't as important. Besides, you can still order those things online if you really need them. Good thing that Microsoft is going to launch Microsoft store somewhere in September if I'm not mistaken.

I would say wait until new flagship come out with Windows 10 because of big screen continuum will require new hardware that's not supported in any of current WP (most probably the MHL and OTG capability).

But, if you don't care about the big screen continuum (something like connecting your phone to a monitor and it can function like a PC) L930 is still a good option if you don't want to wait.

I would say I agree with the statement "Microsoft need to do aggressive marketing" but I think, people are scared with the name of Windows Phone right now. I would still say WP8.1 is still a mess for normal consumer that it is hard to convince people with only specs on paper.

But, combined with good price I think some people actually willing to try WP and some do find that it is likeable. One of my friend migrated from Android to Lumia 530 recently (as the sole user of WP in my working team, I'm proud biggrin.gif ) and he do like it.

Guys, where is the Nokia/Microsoft service center around Klang Valley? I'm having this problem, anybody else face this before? :

When I make a call, or receive a call, the phone screen goes completely blank. This only supposed to happen when you put the phone on your ear, not when facing the phone. The proximity sensor is the cause of this. When I put my finger on the area on the left top of the phone beside the call receiver speaker, the screen comes back alive. It's like a reverse proximity sensor. After going through some forums, I found out the cause is the glass panel on my phone, came off a bit and now is loose. when I press it back in and make the call, the screen is working fine. Don't know why the screen came out in such a short time, is it manufacturing defect? Should I go back to the shop that I bought or direct to Nokia/Microsoft service center? Help guys, thanks.

did you use a cover for the phone? how long is has you used the phone?
mine, i just got the phone back a weeks ago. i sent it in for claims. coz the problem getting worst and worst.
at first , it is what you said, received or calling, the screen goes black as if we are listening at our ear. later on, it will get worst and the right side of the screen will getting loose and looser, it is about half year before it became like this loose. when it is loose like this, the screen became flickering with line whenever you are touching the screen. which is why i send it in for claims. the claims took about 3 weeks.

Hi Guys, need some advice about this lumia 930 phone and windows 8.1 in general.

Here's my story:
I am an early adopter of windows 7.8 , lumia 800. My experience with this phone is a love & hate relationship. I like the phone's amazing built quality, love the screen, the windows user interface, they are just so cool and smooth. But later I faced with few frustration that forced me abandoned the system.

1. Really poor battery life, especially if using apps like facebook, & browsing. usually only last me 1-2 hours before the phone enter the power saving mode. The phone gets extremely hot.

2. No upgrade to windows 8. Despite being a new phone, and to find out there is no further upgrade after windows 7.8 really turns me off. Microsoft seem to ignore their fan, and it makes me worry about their future support for their consumer.

3. Very bad apps selection/unstable/unoptimized apps. I have to live without few of the most common apps. I'll say I am not really a power user, nor a hardcore gamers. But during the early days, there is no Instagram, no waze, no flipboard, no remote desktop apps, no gopro apps, even facebook apps are a crap to use.

4. Whatsapp- luckily there is whatsapp app available.. Unfortunately this is the reason that forced me to change the phone! My whatsapp notification always come in late/or never. The message will only be received when I open my whatsapp app (on the phone at homescreen wont work) I tried many many ways.. and I finally gave up. Maybe the early windows phone don't support multitasking...but this has make conversation in whatsapp useless.

5. Phone unable to boot if I let my phone battery dies completely. During the warranty period, I experienced this, and end up sending to service center, and they requires me to complete wipe up my phone. Luckily I do not any important data stored in my phone. 1-2 months later. I faced with the same problem again.. and this time I do not bother sending it to SC anymore because my warranty has expired and is too frustrating. I ended up buying a cheap android xiaomi phone, which I am currently still using.

Before using the lumia 800, i am using android phone. And I use ios too on my ipad mini. Therefore I play games purely on my ipad & pc. So at least i will say i have experience in all the 3 OS in general. But in my own preferences, I still like the windows interface the best... android and ios are a bit ...boring looking to me. There is no excitement when using these os compare to windows...I seriously missed those livetiles!

Anyway, after many years, I am thinking maybe is time for me to give windows another chance... but part of me still unsure. That's why I need some advice from you guys here. I have zero friends who has any idea of what windows phone is about... so the best way is to seek advice at forum here. Hope you guys can shed some light.

Has the above problems been solved or improved with the latest phone and updates? How is the battery on this device, and is whatsapp/facebook/spotify/ waze works flawlessly compare to IOS/android version? Will this device gets windows 10 update or it is stuck with windows 8.1 in future?

I am now considering getting either this phone or oneplus one. Sorry for the long post.. doh.gif

I bought the phone in early March. Still in warranty. No cover but I have purchased a casing online which is on the way. You mentioned the claim took 3 weeks, do you mean the repair duration? That is long considering the problem is quite minor. Mine is not so severe yet, as only the right side of the panel is off slightly but visible, and definitely is affecting the phone's function. Very disappointed that this is happening and that too from a Nokia phone! Normally the built quality is very strong. I blame DirectD...

hooi_jd,
Thanks for the heads up! Will go to times square branch as it is open on weekends...

1. I don't face this issue with my L930. Early days, my L930 can last 1 day with my normal usage (less call, most of the time whatsapp).
2. L930 is scheduled to receive Windows 10 update.
3. Common apps (facebook, twitter, instagram) are available. You can always check https://www.windowsphone.com/en-my/store
4. Whatsapp works great nowadays
5. I don't face this kind of problem with my L930 but I can imagine similar issue in earlier WP8. But newer phones shouldn't have this issue.

my friend did face similar issue, and I heard it is actually common problem. why we didn't heard much of it, my theory is that we don't have enough users to make the voice heard.

i dunno about that coz i voiced out a few times at here but nobody reply me at all. that why i end up searching over the web. i think they rushed this product somehow or changed somethings and end up like this. before this, i think the nokia ICON which is pretty much the same with our L930 doesnt have this issue.
