Seems like updating the ECU during my last service didn't fix the overcrank problem.

QUOTE(alexei @ Nov 24 2014, 10:01 AM) How long do you turn the key to start the engine? Normally the engine takes 2-3 cranks to start up.I tend to release it before the engine runs. So, it's like 'twist, 2 crank, release the key, and engine runs'... When I previously described my overcrank, it was because the engine won't start, due to insufficient fuel pressure or whatever reason. So, I'd say that my situation is different than yours. If overcrank, usually it'll take more than 7 cranks to start up, but the engine macam gonna die unless i give it some gas. |

QUOTE(tst71 @ Nov 25 2014, 10:48 AM) For my case is any morning start more than 2 crank then I will consider overcrank. To me even my old old Waja also need only 1 crank to start & I can't really tolerate with more than 1 for my 6 months old EB. As for my case my SC at Gopeng(Ipoh) put up my complaint into their "MRR" reporting system, was told to clean up the carbon/contaminant at the engine or throttle compartment!! (can't recall cos this was not reflect in the service summary). Since then my EB can start with only 1 crank for the past 1 week++ .... Hope no more overcrank Definitely will request for the carbon clean up during my next service. Hopefully can fix |

Finally able to record a video of the over crank happening. I tried to crank the first time and the engine wasn't able to start up, I stopped after 4 cranks. Quickly grabbed my camera to record the second start up try. This happened at 9.30am in the morning, the weather was quite cold as it has been raining the past night. Normal start up requires only 2-3 cranks. Over crank at least 6+ cranks for engine to start up. Engine is able to start up after over crank, but feels very weak and will usually die, unless the accelerator pedal is stepped. This has been happening ever since the first 1000km service. Recently had my ECU updated during my 10000km service as it was reported that the problem would be solved with the update, but obviously it has not been fixed. QUOTE(comflash2 @ Nov 26 2014, 02:58 PM) Its sound like weak battery for me. Need few crank to overcome inertia. The battery may dead soon. Check the voltage in the morning. For Calcium-calcium maintenance free battery should be >12.8V. For wet battery, the minimum voltage should be > 12.6volt. I noticed water level in one of the cell in my "maintenance free" (the one closest to the engine) evaporate much faster than other and causing the over crank. Where and how to check battery voltage? |

QUOTE(alexei @ Nov 27 2014, 02:10 PM) I bought from ebay, shipped to Malaysia. Thanks for the info bro.LYN got ppl selling, RM30 IINM. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « On or off, doesn't matter, as long as engine not running. For the readings below, I took them from the voltmeter on my 2F cap: - 12.6~12.8V - After leaving the car overnight. - 13.4 - After engine switch off. - 13.8V - During running. - When aircon compressor turn on, it will dip to 10.8V for a short while. You will observe car headlight will dim. The more important part is voltage during engine cranking, which should stay above 10V. Using OBD2, in the Torque app, enable the voltage reading using 'graph' mode. After you crank, take a screenshot and look at the lowest peak voltage reading. Good luck. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Will try it out tomorrow morning and report back edit : which widget is it? is it the "Voltage (Control Module)" one? edit 2 : nvm I think I got it This post has been edited by YouDontKnowMyName: Nov 27 2014, 07:34 PM |

QUOTE(Bold28 @ Nov 27 2014, 03:55 PM) Guys, I used to do that ever since I got my EB. I used to wait until all the warning lights go off before cranking. For me i always practice to crank AFTER the warning signals go off - abs & airbag warnings! Been doing tis with my old cars - Wira, Spectra, Optima. So far soo good. Only start up @ the 1st crank. Only twice got issues with my EB but in that case the 'gearbox' warning sign came off. After reflushing the ECU its now ok. Just my 2 cents... But even so, my over crank problem occurs even if I wait. Thats why I choose not to bother anymore since it doesn't make any difference |

![]() I just checked my battery voltage just now when I got home. I got home and shut off the car at 5.30pm. At 6pm, I plugged in my OBD adapter to monitor the voltage. Before start up, voltage was 12.3V. During start up, voltage dropped to 11.0V. When engine is running, voltage was at 14.0V. Is this normal? I have yet to try out the voltage during cold start. Will report back when I have done so. This post has been edited by YouDontKnowMyName: Nov 27 2014, 10:35 PM |

QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Nov 28 2014, 05:39 PM) Hi there, my name is Adrian. No problem bro.I am also a proud owner of the new Exora Bold Turbo I would like to report my findings after switching from Shell to Petron. Please note that my Exora is not a daily driven car ,its used only during weekends and used "only when necessary". So it encounters less traffic jam conditions I have been following your advice to try out Petron and it seems to improve FC on mixed driving. Previously was on Shell and the FC was above 11litre/100km (pure city drive) . It (Shell) did went to near 8litres/100km on 100% long distance run (Subang - Setiawan) but the moment we hit the traffic jam + some idling,it shot back up to near 11litres/100km. However i noticed the FC is scary if its on Shell and purely 100% city drive. Now as i reported, after using 2 fill up of Petron, it last clocked at 10.7Litres/100km This included 2 trips to KLIA2 to and fro, some city driving conditions (over the weekends), with 6 adults + baby. And oh, i try to keep my itchy foot as gentle as possible (okay la, sometimes got itchy play with the turbo) Overall, i find getting below 11L/100km is acceptable for its size, weight, and turbo power. FYI my sis's 2.0L Kia Sportage SUV (old version with Hyundai Beta II engine) is getting slightly worse FC Than the Exora in town driving (and more underpower than Exora) Thanks YouDontKnowMyName. I've been wanting to try out Caltex for awhile now. Too bad caltex stations aren't as easy to find around the places I frequent. Heard many good stories about caltex Currently switching between Shell and Petron, whichever is more convenient |
