QUOTE(DannyOP @ Apr 21 2014, 01:58 AM) Since it can be turned on or off, similar to Xiaomi mi3, it allows for bigger usable screen. I don't see what's the advantage for having on screen buttons when so much screen is lost. Google had tackle it with immersive mode. It will hide when apps require full screen usage.IMO advantages is orientation and usability. It could swap vertical/horizontal orientation, swap placement, hide when necessary. Those are only basic Google implementation. Other manufacturers or developers able to make it customizable with different icon/color/style, extra icon, swap icon position etc. I wouldnt mind capacitive button if it had some degree of customization/orientation. For example, one thing I hate the most on Samsung is the right button was for 'back', it's really bad place to assign 'back' function key which you use the most, had to cramp your thumb to reach it. Samsung still stick to it even if Google uses 'back' on left, I guess for the sake of differentiate Samsung with other manufacturers, and it's stupid ( IMO ). Using on screen button isnt the final form. There's gesture control, there's PIE. I've been using PIE for sometimes and love it. While it arguably will not be as fast as visible button, PIE is just super cool and without using screen estate. Once you get used to it, it's so fast that my friend ask me how I navigate me phone coz he didnt saw PIE. |

QUOTE(kevin613 @ Apr 21 2014, 09:39 AM) i think the left back or right back boils down to just personal preference, as it differs for left and right hand users, and samsung's insistence on right back is probably to keep its consistency so not to upset its existing users who upgrades, since they started out with right back. Yup, and that's why I hate them, physical home button in 2014 ? But yeah they are too afraid to make change, too afraid for people not able to recognize Samsung Galaxy brand. It's just sad.and u mentioned PIE as in Piecontrol? OFFTOPIC : PIE as in PIE control. ![]() |

QUOTE(mydragoon @ Apr 21 2014, 10:57 AM) i think the latest leak is true, as per Pete's confirmation. Speculation on phone size is killing me. If in fact it was longer than Note3, and most likely will be same size or so with Z1, chances of my buying will be down to 50%. Hype is double-edged sword it also means, as some noted in their official forum, that the phone is actually longer than Note 3. ouch... anyway, still 2 days away from official launch. i'm still very much attached to capacitive buttons... dunno why. After the Invite system, contest madness, forum mess, I just want to sit tight for 23rd April and see what they offer. |

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Apr 22 2014, 12:25 AM) most of these can be done if you root the phone. I already used pie before when I had Nexus 4 few years back. Nowadays lazy to root phone so i prefer the convenience of not losing my warranty and bigger screen. I too like the stealth look so my compromise is to look for phones with hidden capacitive buttons which can be turned on or off. Nexus 4 'few years back' LOLz, it was only last year. Few years back will be my Nexus S, then Galaxy Nexus. |
