Not really, No difference besides the baseband used and the lack of "CyanogenMod" signature at the back; The international One is supposed to be better cause you get warranty, but if they don't release it in malaysia then it doesn't matter (still will not be able to claim unless you send it back).

Actual possible problems like Yellow Hue are in both international and China one.

Maybe they just want to "play" the phone. Encountered some people who are like that.
1+1 is a good enough phone to last for >2years or longer (depends if you freq change phones) as it comes with a custom rom so there'll be development for it.
