Safely pull out the graphic card with the coolant still inside the waterblock.. sweat.gif

user posted image

Then dismantle the waterblock..just precaution to avoid spillage to the graphic card..

user posted image

Then I remove the CPU waterblock..see the coolant still there..just let them spill inside the prodigy..

user posted image

Finally..taken out the front mounted radiator, reservoir and pump..all together with the coolant of course icon_rolleyes.gif

yawn.gif so sleepy....Emm today I continue to the Elite preparation..
After cleaning all the previous coolant from CPU and GPU waterblock, I assemble the motherboard first..

Guess what..I manage to peel off the sticker and paint from both CPU and GPU waterblock..not enough money to buy new one..but still in good working condition.. brows.gif

user posted image

Because the Elite has a very limited space compare to the prodigy, I have to sacrifice all the HDD cage by removing it..It's quite easy because there is only 7 rivets that hold the HDD cage..drilling time..

user posted image

After removing the HDD cage..and put the motherboard inside..have a little bit space at the front side of the case..

user posted image

Insert the graphic card and try to put an old tube to test the connection.. ohmy.gif ohmy.gif I guess it is way to near the distance between GPU outlet to the CPU inlet..the tube kink.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Since nobody sell a gold sleeve in our market, so I decided to paint it...huhuhu drool.gif drool.gif

Now all the tube to inlet and outlet of CPU and GPU has been replace and fix thumbup.gif ..but the pump location still not fix...

The placement of the three fans just to simulate the location of the radiator..I choose Hardware Labs Black Ice SR-1 120 taken into account that the thickness of the radiator is 54mm as per spec.. (25mm+25mm = 50mm) + 25mm (internal fan) +- another 8 mm clearance

Fitted the fan on the radiator..but in the end it is too thick to be inserted due the restriction from the 5.25" bay..

user posted image

Open the fan..the radiator successfully inserted..but....the case bracket highlighted in red block the radiator.. tongue.gif simple I just twist the bracket using plyer..

user posted image

Then it goes just nice..sitting at the back of front inlet fan.. biggrin.gif

user posted image

There you go..the pump also nicely fit between the fan and motherboard.. sweat.gif

Anyway still wandering around to get silver shine compression fittings...huhu does anyone would like to sell theirs? icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

umm.. u said its was a heatshrinkles sleeving but its haz heatshrink at the end of ur sleeve..
anyway since u making ur cable by ur own,
u can cut inside line of cable shorter than the outside,
its will look more nicer n neat, i think...

btw bro i nvr own a xspc block but is this normal?

I really try hard to do the heatshrinkless sleeving.. sad.gif It is really hard to do..but after spending times 'youtubing'.. I finally get it done..

for the waterblock it is normal I think to have some stain at the cooper part of it..I just clean all the stain using lemon juice thumbup.gif and it's shine again..

Hi guys,

A little update..since I already spent to much time on sleeving..

Done installing the EPS cable..

user posted image

Cut the side of the 5.25 bay to make way for the 6 pin pci-e cable..It's quite time consuming because I only use file to make the hole..broke the dramel during cutting the side panel.. sad.gif

user posted image

user posted image

Only manage to get one of the pci-e cable to pass through the hole.. tongue.gif

user posted image

The most hard part is to do the short sata power cable..I manage to put 1 output only because the gap between the two HDDs is too small..the cable won't give in cry.gif This one I might need to redo again..

user posted image

What left to install is the reservoir, 1 sata power cable and 4 pin molex cable for all the other auxiliary needs..

Little progress... sad.gif

Cutting both side of the side panel last weekend..hmmm quite hard to cut using dramel..

user posted image

Today..I cut both side panel acrylic plate also using dramel..but the different is... it's easier.. blush.gif but it need to be sanded a little.. nod.gif
user posted image

Both side panels also has been sanded to smoothed the surface..

user posted image

Finally..after asking around to get the reservoir done..I manage to get some help from a friend here in KK..the reservoir is finish.. tongue.gif

user posted image user posted image

Now..waiting for the BSPP's tap and die set I ordered to arrive..later I'll will tap it to G1/4 standard to fit the fittings wink.gif

Hi..

The reservoir has arrived this morning and it fit nicely on top of the pump.. thumbup.gif but need to be tap to G1/4 thread first..

user posted image

The side panel won't fit so the end of the case need to be cut a bit..I'm using 3mm thick acrylic by the way..both side need to be cut..

user posted image

Finish cutting.....

user posted image

And now both side fit and the case can be close nicely... rclxm9.gif

Actually, my original plan is to glue together the reservoir and the pump top..but then I think what if the connection does not secure properly..then leaking may occur.. shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

SO I drilled all the holes at the reservoir to 10mm in diameter..still plan to tap it to G1/4 standard..

The reservoir will be connected to the pump top using male to male 5mm fittings..(I ordered at PPC and currently stuck at custom office here in KK) unsure.gif

user posted image

But the tap don't know when will arrive to KK.... cry.gif

I would assume that this worklog won't be completed soon..it all depend on the parts I order..but please wish me luck, because tomorrow I'll go to the custom office to release all my items there..don't know how much the tax it gonna cost me unsure.gif unsure.gif unsure.gif Lucasss said it gonna cost me around RM500... cry.gif

Hi...everybody..sorry for not updating this post since something happen to me..all the item I mention above has safely arrived without single cents charged for the tax..but...............

S**T do happen..the very reason I don't update my post is due of my whole setup is ruined by the coolant leakage in my loop setup..I lost my graphic card (my beloved GTX 680..) and my HDD also gone bad with all the contents are unrecoverable... cry.gif cry.gif

Here are the story...

Maybe gxthelord is right..patient is everything when you want to mod your casing..Thinking of I'm unable to wait any longer for the reservoir..I setup my loop without the reservoir..

user posted image

The loop is not perfect..I try to bleed the air inside the loop but failed..the temperature of the processor and graphic card goes quite high (49C and 45C)..

user posted image

Unable to accept this result..I drain the loop again and order a reservoir from logic_life

user posted image

This is the reservoir I buy Aquabox Pro..thinking that it might solve the air trapped inside the loop problem..

user posted image

Installation of the reservoir is done....

user posted image

Loop has been refilled and the SSD also has been relocated to the side of the PSU..

I left the loop to run for 24hours for leak test..unaware that the leakage at the graphic card waterblock.. cry.gif

user posted image

Only the next morning I note that there are leakage at the stop fitting of the waterblock..I stop the pump and try to wipe all the coolant..after that I try to run it again and it doesn't spill anymore..

But stupidly I boot the system without properly ensure all the coolant between the graphic card PCB and the waterblock is dry..what seem to me to be dry enough really makes the board fry.. cry.gif

The display is there..but unable to go full HD resolution..even after I attach the stock cooler back..it won't work anymore..

Here lie the the dead GTX 680..

user posted image

Other than the GC..the motherboard just working fine..I setup the loop again without the GC (using onboard graphic)..but still something weird is really haunting me..the temperature of the processor alone is still 45C on idle... rclxub.gif

Hmmm..few days later..I think I have to get the project finish no matter what it takes..

I do some changes with the setup..I drain the system and remove the front radiator...

user posted image

I plan to add another 120mm radiator on top of the case..this is the radiator that I'll use..

user posted image

I cut a portion of the 5.25 bay to make way to the radiator..

user posted image

and then I mounted the radiator on top of the case using some brackets that I bought from local hardware shop..

user posted image

I put the corsair fan under it but I think it is too thick and will block the installation of the radiator under it..hmm need to order thinner fan.. hmm.gif

user posted image

The upper part of the casing has been cut for the air flow to run through it..

user posted image

Walla..it's fit perfectly... thumbup.gif

Ok..next I move on to cut the lower part of the case to make the thick radiator immerse a bit..also I painted the case to dark grey..alang alang kan..haha cool2.gif

user posted image

Test the hole and it over fit the radiator..but doesn't matter..I'll plan to route all the cables underneath the radiator later..

user posted image

I plan to install the 140mm fan grill on top of the case but find it quite pricy...so I end up using the Silverstone 140mm magnetic fan filter for the moment..

I order some parts from niclasteoh... and here are the parts.. smile.gif thanks to niclasteoh

Finish installing the CCFL..the switch has been relocate to the rear part of the case..nest to the PSU..

The Lamptron FC V2 also has been installed..

user posted image

See the cable behind the fan controller... hmm.gif

user posted image

As what I planned earlier..the cables has been routed underneath the front radiator...

user posted image

The pump also has been bolted to the case to ease the loop installation..

user posted image

The reservoir is installed near the 5.25 bay and I already prepare tubes for the replacement GC..hope on getting a GTX 670 reference card..

If possible it will include the XSPC waterblock like this..hehe currently in the middle of negotiation with a LYN forumer to get that..emm will expose it once the deal is completed..

Actually heatshrink-less sleeving is much easier than using heatshirnk because you dont have to worry about the size. Once you are able to get the technique right, its as easy as a pie but yeah its quite time consuming. Sleeving is cheap, making own custom cables is cheap but the amount of time you spend is too much tongue.gif

Also if you need any wc stuff feel free to check my thread haha, only if I started selling earlier then you wouldn't need to order from PPC tongue.gif

*
Yes you're correct...the heatshrink-less sleeving is a lot easier once you master the technique..but I need to postpone all the sleeving process for this build because all the previous sleeved cable has hardened maybe due the paint I done on the sleeve..next time I shall order the colored sleeve right away and not to paint it..lesson learn here... cry.gif

Huhu..guess what bro..I browse to your post several time already..I interested in some items you want to sell..maybe I'll PM you later because I have to wait until 24th..GAJI bro..now insufficient fund already.. laugh.gif

Yeah gold colour is quite hard to find over here for the time being. The closest you can get is yellow unless you buy in bulk from mdpc. Iren modz was searching for gold sleeving last time as well for his mod, not sure if he managed to find or not. Check out lutr0 custom or something like that his name in youtube. His sleeving tutorial is the best imo, I learned to sleeve by watching his videos + practice.

Sure no problem, feel free to hit me up when you are free. If you are really interested can pay some deposit to reserve the items because its first come first serve basis hahaha tongue.gif

That is what I think at the first place..buying bulk from MDPC X..but I have change the theme to dark grey as the grey colored grey sleeve is easier to find locally.. smile.gif

Haha..I knew it..emm for the time being I'm just gonna use this legendary reservoir first..tap and die for the custom reservoir has arrived but I don't have the right size of the drill bit for it..many forum said it would be 11.8mm but I only manage to get 11.5mm..don't know what the outcome will be..hmmm but I'll post the result once it is done..cheers... drool.gif

Last night while doing nothing..

I'm thinking of redoing the sleeve cable for the PSU..started with the 24 pin PSU..

this is what I previously done to my cables..this was after I realized that the cable shouldn't be wired like the extension cable..

user posted image

user posted image

Previously I thought all the cables are wired straight same as the extension cable..but right before I plug in the cable I realized that the cable shouldn't be this way... sweat.gif glad nothing got burned..

user posted image

Not only the PSU cables..all the cable has been wired like extension shakehead.gif doh.gif

I plan to sacrifice the extension cable that I own..to give way for the female to female 24 pin PSU cable.. cry.gif

user posted image

Maybe you guys should share the most proper way to secure and nicely wired it to the pin connector because it is quite hard to bend when the cable are short.. icon_question.gif

Hello guys..to gxthelord here are the outcomes for the custom made reservoir..

A small update but not for my build tongue.gif ..it is for my custom made reservoir which I planned previously to use inside my build..

The G1/4 thread tap has arrived few days back..today I got problem with my black & decker drill chuck..the 11.5mm drill bit won't fit in the chuck..

user posted image

user posted image

So I bought the 1/2" 20 UNF chuck..and start drilling the cube..

user posted image

It is quite hard to make the thread without the proper tool..I don't have clamp at my house..so I just hold the acrylic cube using my bare hand..and the tap at the other hand..

user posted image

So..the end product..fill in the water and I just leave it overnight to see it tightness.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

u should make the water flow using pump inside the custom res.
sometime while idle it is okay but once there are water flow the res leak. In addtion u wanna keep the res for long time before starting pouring water inside it.

I think you're right..every connection inside the loop also sometime look promising..but when the coolant start to flow and the pressure build up inside the loop increase something really bad will take place..that is how I lost my GPU.. sad.gif Same goes to this reservoir..maybe I'll try it outside the rig for leak test..

Huhhhh..this is my current update...starting happy but ending with sadness... cry.gif

Friday (6/6/14)

The replacement GPU arrived..Thanks to diaBoliQu3

user posted image

user posted image

So the final assembly... smile.gif I change all the thermal paste from the GPU..(sorry no picture)

The installation is done and the loop refilled...

user posted image

The leak test...huhu using molex adapter..no jump start through ATX pin..easier..

user posted image

I left the system to run 24 hours..nothing leak..

Saturday (7/6/14)..the moment of truth..

Unhook the molex adapter and starting the windows..

Yeah the system start and the GPU is detected..so the PCI-e is working fine..

the temp of the CPU and GPU is also slidely reduced from (45C idle) to (36C idle)...sorry no picture ..

I left the system to run and download some stuff while I go out with my family..

Then when I return..I found the PC is dead... cry.gif my room full of smoke..damn...

The PSU burn..for what ever reason I don't know..

user posted image

user posted image

Notice that there are a fluid (oily) came out through the bottom cooling fan..

It spill onto the motherboard badly..Arrrghhh shocking.gif

So, the paste should be still sticky right? That's the power of Arctic MX4. wink.gif BTW, I don't know if you know this but you can use brasso to polish the waterblock for mirror finish including the fittings etc.

But, how in the hell that PSU got smokin?! Luckily smokin, not firin'. sweat.gif

Yeah..it still sticky..I already clean the surface using arctic clean solution..hmm yes you're right brasso also can be used to polish it..

I'm seaching online..some said it came from the fluid bearing of the fan..some said leak capacitor..don't know what's wrong with it..although a bit lucky because the is no fire..but the PSU is totaled.. cry.gif

I don't think I can send it for RMA..because I already dismantle the PSU..automatically that will void the warranty right?..Huhh..I purposely build this PC for my wife..but too many things happen..hopefully after I replace the PSU and use the prewired cable, everything will go fine and working..

Notice that I try to change the coolant color to red using Mayhems Deep Red Dye but it is a failure..

May I'll change the side panel acrylic window because the current one is quite full of scratch..

My finding regarding the previous PSU failure is that... I think I have put too much load on a single molex connector..all the fan controller, pump and the CCFL using a single molex..Don't know..just my thought only.. rclxub.gif

Notice that I try to change the coolant color to red using Mayhems Deep Red Dye but it is a failure..

May I'll change the side panel acrylic window because the current one is quite full of scratch..
My finding regarding the previous PSU failure is that... I think I have put too much load on a single molex connector..all the fan controller, pump and the CCFL using a single molex..Don't know..just my thought only.. rclxub.gif

Hi guys,

A little update..since I already spent to much time on sleeving..

Done installing the EPS cable..

Cut the side of the 5.25 bay to make way for the 6 pin pci-e cable..It's quite time consuming because I only use file to make the hole..broke the dramel during cutting the side panel.. sad.gif

Only manage to get one of the pci-e cable to pass through the hole.. tongue.gif

The most hard part is to do the short sata power cable..I manage to put 1 output only because the gap between the two HDDs is too small..the cable won't give in  cry.gif  This one I might need to redo again..

What left to install is the reservoir, 1 sata power cable and 4 pin molex cable for all the other auxiliary needs..

The original coolant that was used on this build was Armaggeddon Water Cooling Coolant ARCTIC FUEL 1000 (ACID YELLOW)..but I add some Mayhems deep red dye to make it red..but it turn out hideous shakehead.gif
So I plan to change it to UV Green by EKWB..I also change my CCFL setup from white to UV..

The UV CCFL..longer than current CCFL..

The white CCFL

I remove the PSU and will drain the loop..but...no drain valve.. shakehead.gif ..huhu see the coolant's color.. sad.gif

user posted image

After the coolant is drained..I clean all the tube but the plasticizer is too hard to peel off..just look at the reservoir..sorry forgot to take pictures on the tube..

user posted image

So I decide not to reuse the tube and replace the loop using the acrylic tube..since I have extra fitting from the prodigy build.. biggrin.gif

Sorry no picture of installation....but look also add a drain valve by koolance under the reservoir..

The end results.... sweat.gif
