I dun think so, not nececsary that the exhaust set must be a added with the K&N filter.

Changing the exhaust set alone get rids of the catalytic converter and the midbox which give lots of restriction for the exhaust gas to release from the engine. therefore, a aftermarket exhaust set will helps in releasing the gas with a smoother path.

Having a K&N filter or aftermarket filter is good for cleaner and more air into the engine for combustion purpose. but then, if you're still using the small snorkel or stock air intake, the improvement are not that overwhelming.

Whole exhaust system consist of extractors(header), midbox and the muffler.

i'm using small snokel.... if only change extrator and k&n drop-in might only feel slighty diff..... but i'm now 1 mid 1 bullet and 1 muffler.... and ofcoz extrator.... the power is alot diff.....

anyway hotbits system got no rear muffler... all in the middle smile.gif i pay around 1.4k and done in speedwork ... actually is worth... coz can do futher upgrade... like piggyback and openpod... yeah i heard gen2 still doesn't have a compatible piggyback like the safc for all cars(damm..)but speedworks they got 1 system to do it... still i have some doubt about it so i stick with these setting 1st... and actually is satisfy me...

glad 2 hear that u r satisfied wif ur current performance.. i heard that workshops @ sunway slaughter ppl around.. tongue.gif how true i dono larhh.. biggrin.gif

dudez.. do u think extractor difference by the car cc (1.6 o 1.3) o the diameter itself ah? cz the zenden guy told me that it might not b as good as i think it will and it may worsen up.. cz i'm drivin a 1.3 here..

btw.. after modifying the extractor, what can u feel from the car?

actually.. i feel the engine sound nicer.. heheheheh improve alot at low end..... power comes around 2.7k rpm... i try that when going uphill.... really improve....

bro, u spent al total of 1.4k for the exhaust set?? so expensive ahz?? the filter replaced for better air intake to the camber for combustion and a good exhaust header of smoother release of exhaust gas thus you felt smoother engine lor... go improve ur CAI and I'm sure u feel even more. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I myself dunno when can settle my exhaust. sad.gif

the drop-in quite expensive ler when i bought that time.. if i want to change to open pod more expensive... 500++ add the heat sheild another 250..... the injection kit cost me 700++ edi ler..... thats y i play drop-ip 1st.. heehehe......

heat shield still can block some of it but.... better have CAI also... btw.. how to modify our airbox to put CAI wor???

there's a extension hose there at the intake hose to the airbox... can fit from there lor... wat say u?

you guys are really fast....few pages i need to go through read.

Iridium is best to use than platinum. Cable can use back OEM. I changed to R3 becoz it's the LOOK that attracted me.

CAI, filter....drop-in suitable for those expect less headache. Open-pod best if got conceal and block hot air. I have used:
K&N/Pipercross drop-in + ori snorkle
Racecraft enclosed open pod + CAI
Pipercross open pod + CAI

Now K&N open pod + CAI, still not very satisfy with it, the box is restricting too much air go into the open pod. Still looking for better alternative.

Exhaust, well...one have to experience and experiment to get satisfy. I have used:
4-1 header + ori mid + ori muffler = very good improvement from low end
4-2-1 ranspeed + marco mid + pro1 muffler = very good spread of torque

Now R3 full exhaust system, even better than previous setup. Very good torque especially high end, punchy sound.

**It's depends on your car setup, of which may vary from my current setup.
