PS4 Pro + PSVR + Fostex TH900 headphones + RE7.

That was my RE7 VR experience, probably will be the staple one for a very long time. What an amazing time to be a gamer.

Now that we know 4.5 brings boost mode to all PS4 games with significant FPS stability/gains, there's no reason to buy the OG console anymore.

With that said, it's noticeably better in RE7 and other games like bound, and it's 90FPS Miku on pro compared to 60FPS on OG PS4.
*
It's not all guns and roses.

With Yakuza 0, cutscenes are smoother and stick to 60fps more often. But then at the same time, gameplay takes a marginal hit for some odd reason. So far this is the only game I can personally confirm that isn't gaining a direct advantage with boost mode.

Tried cinematic mode yesterday for 1 movie (Pacific Rim) - not bad I'd say. IQ has definitely improved with what seems like some added post-processing on the luma layer, upscaling it so that details are noticeably sharper. Definitely a good step forward, though there still a lot of improvements that can be added.

What are the games worth getting for VR? Other than Resident Evil 7?

Still contemplating to get it as it's below RM 2k now for VR and camera bundle from Sony

What's the camera for? Any VR games uses it?
*
The camera is for the PSVR. The PSVR cannot function without the camera, it's essential.

Any other games that are must-have VR experience other than RE7? I did enjoy Thumper and Rez Infinite, but other than that - not much else sadly, at least not now. TBH, if you are completely foreign to VR, almost every game is a "tech demo" experience.

New revision of the PSVR headset will be launching soon.

The changes are:

- The processor unit now has capability to pass through HDR, basically this means the HDMI port has been updated to HDMI 2.0.

- The headphone cable has been streamlined together with the rest of the PSVR cables, making it less messsy.

The headset itself remains the same (perhaps with some internal changes to cut down on production cost, as is usual of these kind of products). Pricing is unchanged and unfortunately, no you change your current processor unit to the new one as the cable connectors are different (yes, you're screwed if you want to pass through HDR).

hope sony malaysia can do some good exchange program for it but i doubt it  laugh.gif  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

This release is pretty much like an existing peripheral revision. Impossible for an exchange program in Malaysia, it's even impossible for an exchange program worldwide.

good thing I hold me horses during the merdeka sales and upgraded to Pro instead.

we can expect to see a price drop in PSVR1 when 2 is launched.

*
Let's be very clear here okay: this is just a revision replacement. There will be no price change for either models what so ever, other than promotions.

Think of it as the PS4's launch model vs 'C chassis'.

QUOTE(Mubarak90 @ Oct 3 2017, 11:21 AM)
May I know which cable connector is different? Is it the port on the PSVR unit itself or the one on the processor unit? Because if only on the processor unit, it should be fine with simply swapping the older model with the new one right?
*
The cable from the headset is different, which is why it isn't backwards compatible.

Stated here:

QUOTE
If I already own a PS VR, can I swap out my old Processor Unit with the updated one?
Because the cables of CUH-ZVR1 and CUH-ZVR2 are different, you cannot swap the Processor Units.

PSV1000 vs PSV2000

it's a revision replacement as well, but there's price differences when 2k is launched.

those who don't mind no HDR passthru can wait for the v1 price drop
*
I'm being told by Sony MY that there is no change in SRP though....

QUOTE(Sylverphyre @ Oct 3 2017, 06:23 PM)
They technically could sell a special pack which comes with the new PU, and an adapter/converter for the V1 cable so it would fit... Though I doubt they'd be so nice to us who adopted early...

Astro Bot is a must try, period.

Quite arguably the best VR game out right now, no matter the platform.

full spec of PSVR2 is out, haptic feedback on headset

guess you'll felt the headshot everytime you took one laugh.gif

Was hoping for wireless, guess with the haptic feedback it will drain more juice so have to be wired

still no official pics tho...
*
From day 1 they already said it won't be wireless.

Looks like I'll always turn off haptics on the headset due to my brain operation lol.

They are aiming for a $500 launch price. So yes, definitely over RM2k.

If can play RE7 VR at higher settings... sounds like a good deal
*
Would not work without developer patching. RE7 requires the external camera, there's none with the PSVR2.

QUOTE(squall_12 @ Jan 6 2022, 08:19 PM)
ya i bet as the spec for the psvr2 is very high end but if they have some of the must have VR games to play then i will buy it even it is over RM2k.
*
It's important that they put more focus on VR instead of it being an afterthought again.

This is strange lor.

AFAIK modern API's are normally blackboxed. By right 3rd party software does not need to know or care how the API does the tracking on their end, as long as the interface and I/O are the same. Or else how does a Steam game work with both Index and Quest 2.
*
Steam is different dude.

There's a reason why RE7VR is still not available on PC. The console "exclusivity" already lapsed long time ago.
