Finally dived in a couple of days ago and got in 2 solid hours of gameplay straight!all I can say is,damn man this VR thingy is a game changer thumbup.gif

Started out with until dawn, went on to try the underwater simulation (sadly, not the shark one),here they lie,eve valkyrie, and the RE kitchen demo.Happy to report zero motion sickness, tried locomotion and teleportation on here they lie, with no adverse effects, felt like a champ! laugh.gif

Felt a bit shortchanged by the length of some of the demos, but I guess that's what their meant to do,which is nudge us towards purchasing the full version. A couple of questions though:

1. Are the move controllers essential to the whole VR experience? Think I remember one of the demos only having the move option which was required to begin.

2. What's the optimal distance / position to place the camera?
*
Move controller is extremely important. A lot of games uses them.
If you are seating, usually around 1 meter, for standing, around 1.5~1.8 meter. Also focus on the left camera lens.

If you have an Aim controller and still don't own Dick Wilde, make sure you buy that.

if you are completely foreign to VR, almost every game is a "tech demo" experience.

Have to disagree with you unless you are stuck with Asia PSN only. There's a decent amount of games, not full length yes, but they aren't tech demo. If you stop following news after launch, then I understand why you have that misconception.
Star Trek Bridge Crew, Farpoint, Polybius, Statik, Starblood, Korix, Dirt Rally, Driveclub, RE7, Werewolf within, Surgeon Simulator, Eagle Flight, Robinson, Tethered, Battlezone, Valkyrie, Here they lie, Bound, Thumper, Wayward Sky, Rigs, Arizona SS, just to name a few and excluded a lot of games like Holoball.

Most of them are indie game yes, but not tech demo at all. Unless you happen to consider all of those 3-4 hours indie games on steam are tech demo like Abzu, Firewatch those games.

I'm seeing some people considering/getting PSVR soon, so just thought of posting this useful tip I've always shared around.

Make sure that you've downloaded every single free stuff, there's a lot of regional differences, Japan has a lot of experiences and US has a lot of demo. Try Statik, COD Jackal Assault and every other free stuff. Also PSMove is basically required, just get them if you are looking for a true VR experience. Most of the games uses PSMove.

Moving onto set up tips.

1- Avoid having any reflective material in the room, or at least visible by the camera.

2- Avoid having any light sources, the darker the room, the better it is.

3- Leave your PSVR on a FLAT surface when it is booting up for at least 30 seconds to a minute. This is the most important part, this solves wobbling and drift. Drift/Wobble again? Take it off and flat surface again for 30 secs. Do not turn off your PSVR and on again everytime you're facing problem, it will just reset the calibration, so just take it off and leave it on a flat surface.

4- Cinema mode drift? Leave it on a flat surface again OR this may take a few try but, look 90 degree to your right, start turning your head to the middle while holding the option button, when your point of view reaches center, the screen should be recentered to infront of you too.

5- If you have any tracking issue, calibrate it. Make sure your PS4 is not booted from rest mode. Do a restart/turn off and turn on. This is VERY important too.

6- For standing experience, you probably want to adjust the camera for a wider field of view. For sitting, try to sit as close as possible and adjust the camera to a lower place, seated head level. Camera should be set up left lens as the center point, this is very important, focus ONLY on the left lens. Try to be as center as possible from the camera point of view. Standing experience try to have at least head level camera and better if it's higher, pointing down. Stand at least 4.5-5 feet away from camera.

I will highlight the critical parts again, PS4 should boot up from powered off/restart, DO NOT start your VR session from a PS4 rest mode. Leave your PSVR on a FLAT surface when it is booting up.

AS AN ADDITIONAL TIPS for Malaysia players. PLEASE own a US+JP account. You are going to need them for sure, especially US. You won't be playing any games without a US account since 60% of the games are not available in our regional store. China is another one you can have as a backup, there's some exclusive contents there, but only a few of them. Just as a comparison, Malaysia store currently has around 60-70 games and free experience compared to US store at around 150. A few example of games missing from last month, Dino Frontier, Smashbox Arena, Tiny Trax, Superhot VR, Archangel, Apollo 11, Castlestorm VR, Theseus, Infinite Minigolf, Fantastic Contraption, Arizona Sunshine.

Driveclub VR, literally the worst game to showcase VR. It's considered as the worst looking game on PSVR.

so actually the VR's display is very sharp one? maybe later i go and try again.. the promotion looked very attractive.. PS4Pro + VR camera set around 2999..if take PS4 slim 1tb with VR set then is 2799.. any big difference on Slim vs Pro on VR?

It varies between games. Some will look as good as normal TV but most of them is a little blurrier. All in all, it won't be HDTV quality for sure. How VR works is, you have two lenses that magnifies the screen, therefore the compromises in graphic. Pro and Slim differences are quite significant for newer games if you are looking for sharper graphics. Often Pro upgrades are higher anti aliasing, downsampling from much higher resolution or smoother framerate.

PSVR launch games are not really great showcase and I'm sure most of the roadshow/shop in Malaysia are demoing PSVR with those. Makes me upset honestly, it's leaving a pretty bad impression for many people. If you can manage to find a place that demo Farpoint with Aim controller, you should try that. Or just try to find any demo station that is using PSMove, which is the definitive way of playing VR, but I doubt you will find any of that, they never prepare games with PSMove.

Here's some random gameplay with PSMove/Aim, you can expect the graphic to look as good as what you're seeing, maybe even better in VR.
