This is a common question - should I upgrade now, or wait a little later for newer hardware? I normally tell people, there will always be a newer, better CPU and GPU coming out every year, so do not wait, get what you want when you need it at the best value.

However, to add some perspective to your question:

1. CPU I think is not worth it to wait for the next gen like Broadwell.  If you see the past few Intel CPU generations - Ivy Bridge, and Haswell, there is really not that much improvement of performance per dollar, it is more like power efficiency which is good for mobile devices like notebooks, but not much impact to desktop.

2. Nvidia's next gen GPU (Maxwell) seems to also focus on power efficiency instead of outright performance.  The GTX750 / GTX750Ti is actually Nvidia's next gen Maxwell available today for desktops.  Even the latest generation of GPUs for performance seems to be recycled designs with minor tweaks, both Nvidia and AMD seem to be doing this.

As we progress forward, I think the focus will be on energy efficiency, meaning higher performance in a lower power envelope, rather than outright performance.  That is actually not a bad thing, today's CPU and GPU is more than enough to game at "normal" resolution of 1920x1080.  There is the law of diminishing returns here when it comes to absolute performance.

The 4670K is basically a non hyperthread version of the 4770K. So it works just as well for games or general usage and will last you a long time

But if you require more juice for multiple programs, then get the 4770 (non K version). Plug and play out of the box hyper threading. But without OCing. Which is you want to use for the long run is better anyhow since you're not overclocking for benchmarking purposes.

But if you still want to OC plus an i7 you'll have to sacrifice some of the monitor budget or get a cheaper GPU.

The Palit StormX Dual is highly overclocked GTX750Ti card, and its price is about RM600, which is the same price for a Sapphire R7 265 Dual-X.

If you compare its performance, the Palit GTX750Ti StormX Dual card will beat a standard R7 265 card, so price/performance is about the same, not that much difference.

However, given a choice, I would still choose the GTX750Ti because the GTX750Ti is smaller, runs cooler, requires less power (no 6-pin power connector needed) and is much quieter. Also, from my experience, Nvidia drivers are generally more stable as compared to the AMD drivers.

btw i read at guru3d in term of oc'ing palit gtx 750 ti got more fps than palit gtx 750 ti stormx dual. should i consider to buy gtx 750ti if the price is cheaper?

As the topic in this site said. The 750 Ti StormX Dual can be OC'ed more than their original OC power. You can fork out 10% more performance out of it. Just get the 750 Ti StormX Dual, GBros is selling it for RM 560 nod.gif

The i7-4770k is RM 330 more than the i5, imo i5 got is enough with it being OC'ed and all can last long enough.

Then be able to make some additions. My take on Zgames's recommendation.

Proc - Intel Core i7-4770K RM1050
Mobo - Asrock Z87M Pro 4 RM 349
GPU - Gainward GTX770 Phantom OC 2GB RM1,430
PSU - FSP Raider 650w RM 270
HDD - 1TB WD Blue RM 189
RAM - 8GB RAM RM 239
Casing - NZXT Source 210 RM159
SSD - Samsung 840 EVO 120GB RM320
Screen - Asus VX239H RM699 (Great 1080p IPS screen.)
Total: RM4705.

You can still stick to the Zotac GTX770 if you wanna save some cash, or use the saved money to get a PH-TC14CS CPU Cooler from GBros at RM240. Comes it four different fantastic fan colors and it's a good complement to your OCed 4770K.

Any 8GB 1600MHz RAM is good enough. Just make sure it has CL9 timings.

Gaming RAM doesn't affect much in terms of gaming. It's just a waste of money when you're building a pure gaming rig.

But it depends on games too. Like BF4 actually shows slight performance increase with better RAM and CPUs. But anything like the dominator platinum RAMs is a waste of time unless you're willing to spend for looks.

Yea that thing cost a fortune. But yea it's dependable on games to, I suppose certain games like MOBA, Strategy and such uses more of CPU power rather than graphic hmm.gif
