Not nice... for low end, get DFI or Biostar, better value. Or else get high end ASUS or DFI. These boards overclocks much-much better than Gigabyte.

anyway.... sold my cpu and mobo already tongue.gif

Firstly, do you understand the basic of overclocking AMD64? If yes, it's easier for us to guide you with the BIOS later on. Just give us the overclocking parameters provided. Screenshot of the BIOS would be great.

There is no more X2 with 1MB L2 cache in the market. If you want one, get the Opteron AM2. Somebody is selling it in the bulk section. All of them have 1MB L2 cache per core.

There is no 65nm in the market yet... not even engineering samples.

Please stick to only overclocking related issues. No spamming or fanboyism.

but TF570, or even TF590 have limited Vdimm... max only 2.2v

i dont see any abit motherboard pair with AM2...Is it not good for overclock?Biostar is the best for overclock??

I notice that currently Abit mobo is kinda low-profile... probably not enough marketing push.

Abit nF-M2 nView is a good mATX mobo, and quite overclockable with all the options and enough Vdimm.... however hard to find locally...for the time being la.

The old one (LBBVF 0620 SPAW) sold to Seng007... it did around 2.8ghz at 1.575V prime stable... but that was on stock cooling.

Currently using 3200+ (NBBVF 0630 EAB) China-made processor.

SuperPi 32M - 2714MHz @ 1.375V (stock cooling)

Still waiting for my CM HyperTX from moderno (still no stock) cry.gif

p/s: CPU-Z shows overvolting on the cpu... dunno why.

you're running slower time than mine probably because the ram speed is low.

but mine haven't tweaked either tongue.gif

How much bajet? Getting identical setup with me should be fine...except for the RAM kinda hard to get. G-skill 1GBHZ should be fine.

best value cpu:

single core : 3200+ highly recommended... 3000+ also good
dual core : 3800+ X2 at least

best value/oc-able motherboard:

non sli : DFI Infinity nF-M2, Abit KN9-series, Biostar TForce series (Vdimm max only 2.2v)
sli/xfire : DFI Infinity SLI/Crossfire series, any high end DFI, ASUS, Abit
with built-in vga : Abit nF-M2 nView, Biostar TForce6100-AM2 (Vdimm max only 2.2v)

best overclockable ram:
- any Micron based square chip DDR2 (D9DCT,D9GMH,D9GKX)
p/s: Kingston Value RAM DDR2-800 has D9GKX on it
p/s: Some 1GB Kingston Value RAM DDR2-533 has D9GCT on it)

AM2 will work with any ATX1.3/2.0/2.2 PSU, and must be native 24-pin type (or 20+4)

- Enermax
- Antec (often got issue with DFI mobo)
- Silverstone
- Tagan

these are which can be easily found locally

Big Typhoon VX is also quite good. But just a reminder to those who are using DFI Infinity mobo, the heatpipes might interfere with the slot closest to the 1st RAM slot.

i'm still waiting for it from moderno... dunno why Intel version got, but not AMD version cry.gif

The fan shroud is supposed to be higher than RAM modules, unless using tall RAM like Corsair Pro/Expert/Dominator series

AI Tuning : Use manual to overclock manually. From my experience, automatic options doesn't always work, or does not give satisfaction at all.

CPU Frequency : This is the 'FSB'. While FSB does not exist in K8 architecture, the value is always used and multiplied with selected Cpu Mutiplier to determine clockspeed. CPU Frequency x CPU Multiplier = CPU Clockspeed

CPU Multiplier : Depends on your needs. However, I believe the most optimum multiplier is 10x. However, this might be just a myth.

PCIe clock : Set both options manually to 100MHz when you overclock.

Memory clock frequency : This is the memory value (some people refer as memory divider). It does not equal to 'actual' memory clockspeed, but rather to 'lock' your memory to the default cpu clockspeed. For example, if you choose DDR2 667, at default CPU speed of 2000MHz, the RAM will run at 667. But when you increase the cpu speed, the base value is still 667 but it will increase in relation to the cpu clockspeed. To determine the actual ram clockspeed, it is a bit tricky because it depends on cpu multiplier as well. Before you get confused, refer to the AM2 memory divider table on the first page. That should explain everything it's pretty much straightforward.

CPU <-> NB HT speed : This is the HyperTransport link speed. Always keep the speed to the nearest value of 1000MHz. The formula is CPU Frequency x [1x ~ 5x]. For example, if your CPU Frequency is at 250MHz, you might want to use 4x. This value does not affect system performance, be it overclocked or underclocked. It's just that your system might not be stable if it's overclocked too much. The key is to get the speed as close as possible to 1000MHz. Something around more or less ~100MHz should be fine.

Voltage selections : This is very basic. The rule is, not to overfeed the voltage. Only use the value that can give the best stability. Test with stress test tools like prime,sp2004, orthos etc. I don't want to get too much into this since it's just basic. My tips is just keep the HT link voltage and chipset voltage at default. They don't help overclocking.

DRAM configuration : There is no specific value on what value should be used for one particular ram, so I would say "TRIAL AND ERROR" is the best thing. However, I recommend timing set of 4-4-4-x as the most optimum overclock speed for anything below DDR2-1000.

Try play around with Trfc and Maximum Async Latency timings.
