i own a mt, everything is fine above 2k RPM,
can maintain 70 to 90 KM/H at the Jeli to Grik stretch without sweating,
just avoid syntium 1000 during service. my car feel heavy using syn1000.

QUOTE(hdbjhn2 @ Mar 25 2014, 06:45 PM)
i have a question here,,,knw first tat i'm not anti proton,,i don't do butt dyno,ketuk2 for reliability or hoping sports performance on these cars.Priority of making car should always be like this as customer:safety(active<=passive))>reliability>efficiency>usability(market targeted)>performance...With that said,in my opinion neither perodua or proton have been producing really bad but good cars for the money n improved a lot(in detail, yes),,,i don't just do some barbarian styled evaluation.

However, this proton preve seems to be overrated to me.Considering it's price, performance, safety. It is EXCELLENT(having everythin under 1 package is engineers challange).
Well, crash test seems to be good.Engine is good. But there goes a story about engine efficiency. Many sites including proton Official site claims preve passes Euro Emission "5",WTF THIS IS TOTally unbelievab;e.Seriously i can't trust this men.
Here's like ,,"why' :honda vs preve.,,,think carefully pls>>lol,,pls
1.car weighs 1300kg.(heavy)..made with help of some guy from bmw(refer wiki+car curves,it do smell like bmw.    ,,then            honda city 2014 about 1050kg.

Both have cvt.
Both have good cayalytic converter.(assume honda's better because they tweak their own while proton use something on par with some good aftermarket stuff)
Both have cam profile(definitely vtec have better history n is on GM's top list,,it is a knwn winner).
Engine itself for sure honda made it better(not supporting this pricy rich kids car,,but Honda is GOOD,,engine, efficiecy, chassis,,they would have some fancy stuffs like..mmm..let say better aluminium application on engines(for weight saving)
Campro is dohc + honda is sohc(won't matter coz test of mpg is usually under 90kph,,,sohc still holds good power band)

The result on paper,,,f***  this:official 1 claims  around(non-cfe) 6.2l/100km other sites 7-8l/km

well, for honda(i believe they r not influenced by their government to tokok tambah in order to make it a globall car instead being monitor strictly(not that strict,i knw, cars nw day have some quality issues)--but it's official and any other result claims -5.7l/100km(lighter body of honda/preve is heavy, that's fine but it's 1.5l engine pack more power n torque).
Thus if  u understand how engines combustion efficiency effect Euro emission rating/How much green gas produced...less fuel per 100/km mean=better rating.(other factors like performance of catalytic converter are usually negligible n in this case is safe to be said equal)
How the hell does honda, which have better mpg does only have Euro emission of 2 while preve is '5"(more is better).Even ford's highly "fuel economy-focused" ford fiesta, some of them are only euro 3 n 4.But this not-so-fancy(it is good but...) engine +heavy body),achieves 5 n they even claim they have prepare it for future doh.gif (it looks like edge of it in terms of mpg)

PLs forgive for long post n forgive me if i'm being rude,,,but that's normal, whistling.gif ,Pls read carefully,,n explain to me because reading statitics alone, nothing shakehead.gif
No war pls,,. i would not like some replies from peeps who replies without them knw wat they r talking about, shouting, cursing, the statistic guy(robots),n pretty much,,pls,,stay away. vmad.gif

Other than that, the car sound perfect to me  wink.gif  wink.gif

Just my 2 cents, no scientific data included.
I didn't expect Honda engines to be just Euro 2 emission. Or maybe in Japan, their priority of emission is different(check if majority of Japan market needs to comply). Campro is designed to comply with Euro emission in mind. My Persona is Euro 4 compliant.
Anyway, did you see how fuel efficient is Preve on straight highway? If the test cycle is mainly on cruising, I'm not surprised that the CFE gets Euro 5.

awww.. u scared me with this one... hmmm.... i think they keep the car in their hand first.. when someone wanna buy then they said got stock... if its like u said. i think there will be diffences cause LE handling from lotus... and premium is proton handling if im not mistaken :|

I am driving a LE. I don't think the suspension has any difference except that I have less unsprung weight from the 17" R3 rims.

Is it really true Preve FC is that bad? Some people say for city driving, stuck in jem, Preve soft turbo will drink your fuel like crazy. The FC for Preve in city around 9-10km/litre. Is it true? If yes than its a heavy drinker la.

And based from what I read above, some guy just bought Preve over City and he said the light cannot be turned on the first night he brought home the car. Man that's really bad experience, thinking of u buying a new car with your hard earned money, and only finds out the car got major/minor issues even only after out from showroom.
*
Around 11-12KM/L in city driving style.

I find my Preve problem-free. Even rattling noise fixed itself, seriously, literally.

wow bro, below 1k service u drive up to 140kmh?

i heard my fren say, be4 1k service, try not to push up to 100kmh wor...

curios bout this
*
First hour of driving I already push it to 5500 RPM. Breaking in engine has a very small timeframe to do it, that time I desperately put into manual mode, put a low gear and rev it as hard as I can on highway.

Result, pretty good fuel consumption and healthy engine.

If exceed timeframe how? Does that mean doomed to have a Preve with poor FC?

Anything that can be done after?
*
This theory is not necessary correct. According to manufacturers, never push the engine below 1000 KM.
Only if you want to break in hard instead, once after break in period, then there's nothing that can be done; just continue to drive slowly. Doesn't matter, at least you have followed recommended breaking in procedure.

I manage to drive 561.6 KM in one full tank, city driving. Highest mileage before a fuel up so far.

Some questions regarding the manual mode , I heard that in suprima s while using paddle shift after u step on brake then it will turn back to D mode? Is it the same in the preve? I assume that is a yes? Then what about the S mode? Can drive like a manual car where It won't turn back to auto even after step on the brake?
*
Nothing to do with brake. D and S are always automatic, but paddle shift will work within 10 seconds of your last paddle input. Putting manual mode will lock the gear ratio.

But on a CVT, almost no reason for you to drive in manual mode. It is slower and use more fuel.

thx bro, is tat meant below 2krpm that might possible consume more petrol as its heavy weight body (underpower condition)...  hmm.gif

Turbo engines have lower compression. In most cases, it is going to use more fuel. Not underpowered below 2K, turbo don't just ON when it reach 2000 RPM.

So what is the best driving method for driving in the city? I've tried my best to keep the car under 2000rpm. Yet my fuel consumption for a full tank is averaging 15L/100km
*
I drive in city too. Everyday to Pusat Bandaraya.

I don't mind the RPM to go more than 2000 RPM, but feel the pedal, you will know when vacuum is near 0, or boost is coming. I avoid accelerating hard except I can see road ahead is clear.

And I am a little excessive in one area, I shut down engine at traffic lights that I know I have to wait more than approximately 20 seconds.

Fuel range not accurate. You can't possibly dump 5KM worth of fuel in just one start without flooding the engine.

Warm restart does not take much fuel.
