I have a Q5, I have this weird problem suddenly where my cpu cores temperature increase all the way to 90C degree when I'm using my laptop plugged in.

Few days before the laptop still seems fine until suddenly this time when I open it I found that my fan blowing oddly hard and non-stop.

Open up the back cover the heatsink seems clean, nothing clogged up either, why is this?

Even when the battery's removed, as long as the laptop runs via AC cord, it will heat up very fast.

Tried tweaking with the power settings, still the same, I am suspecting thermal paste is dried but it is only a year old, and it is applied with IC Diamond done by the company. Also, the GPU's temp are fine with 70C under load. Scanned with malwarebytes, there's no malware detected.

Hi boiboi95,

90C with Turbo Boost on or off?

Please try to disable Intel Turbo Boost and see if the temperature goes down.

Hi PrinceJ

Just turn it off, it did indeed goes down to average temperature of 66-69, but with CPU idle temperature of 66 isn't good either still no?

Also, after all these while turning my turbo boost on and all in a sudden this happened, is there any possibility reason behind it?

Thanks.

Hi,

So what you're implying is that my system is completely fine? But due to this increase of average temperature the fan blows harder than usual and constant, which is a bit of annoying (As mentioned earlier it was quiet and temperature was never this high). Sorry for my doubting, because I'm going to study overseas with this system soon, I do not wish to have any problems with it during over there else it would be very troublesome sweat.gif

Thank you.

‪ILLEGEAR‬ ‪‎Z7‬ is scoring a 9 out of 10 rating in PC.COM magazine review!

"The heat emitted from a device is one of the most important factors to note. This Z7 has superb heat dispersing ability due to its airflow design and materials, as well as strong cooling fans. I went through long duration of gaming without the machine heating up like a hot plate, though be sure to set its cooling fan to max level when playing with extensive graphic games.

The Z7 also comes with a high performance mobile graphic card, the NVidia GeForce GTX 970M, featuring the impressive NVIDIA PhysX Technology. I experienced the awesomeness first hand as the device produced nothing less than crisp graphic with excellent details and effects.

Equipped with a 6GB GDDR5 of graphic memory, the graphic card is more than capable to support the 17-inch screen, in addition to supporting higher resolution of external monitor without graphic tearing.

The battery life is admittedly long lasting as well. I could stream videos and play games for hours without plugging it in, though if I was participating in a raid, it might be more prudent for me to do so."

Yes it's normal.

I guess dust has built up in your machine.

There's this though: Illegear U4 But then again, Illegear sell gaming laptops and Intel HD is really useless for gaming. There are ultrabooks which are really thin from other brands if you really want Intel HD only.

Hi there Illegear,

I've recently purchased your Illegear model U4 based on reading the specs on your website and recommendation of friend to give local made brand a chance.

Since receiving it, i have been doing testing on it to see how it performs as there were no available reviews for the ultrabook model U4 prior to this posting.

My biggest concern right now is the battery performance which is terrible.

Given constant browsing use test, 50% brightness and only WiFi switched on, and power options in balanced mode, i can hardly hit 2 hours of use before the ultrabook battery is drained. i did battery calibration, do 50% power cycle recharges multiple times. the result is still the same. This is really concerning because the prospect seems like in order to use the ultrabook, it looks like i have to carry the power adapter everywhere i go.

Thus, i have the following questions:

(1) Was i given the wrong battery for the notebook? This is because i noticed that the actual physical battery is rated for 32Wh but your website clearly indicates that it comes with a 44Wh battery.

physical battery:

actual website spec:

(2) Could the battery be defective or a used one that is causing this poor performance? This is because i noticed manufacturing date is Dec 2015 and a sticker mentioning Feb 2016 but i only received the ultrabook recently.

physical battery dates:

(3) Is there any BIOS updates or anything else to update to fix the battery power drain consumption? This is because i noticed that the last BIOS update is in Dec 2015 and there's no available current download driver links on your website.

(4) How did you get the 8 hours battery life as advertised on your website? I'm curious for this as I want to mimic the test scenarios to ensure that I can get as optimum a battery performance as advertised.

actual website 8 hours:

Thank you. Hope to hear to hear a reply soon as the holidays is around the corner which will also mean the 7 day one to one exchange on warranty deadline i have is coming up. I have yet to fully test out other features of the notebook to ensure that all other parts are working correctly still but this battery issue is my biggest concern for now.

Hi ebackbone

Thanks for your feedback about the U4.

That was a typo mistake, it should be 32Wh.

The 8 hours battery life was tested with the same 4-cell 32wh battery at ILLEGEAR STUDIO, our technician stream youtube at 50% brightness and achieved that result.

Therefore, I suspect you received a bad battery, can you pm me your serial number and name details? So I can arrange an exchange for you.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Illegear,

That is highly unsettling that you're telling me NOW that it is a typo. Can you imagine the feeling of customers buying a product based on the specification you advertised and then you send them something else that is without the advertised parts and then when they enquire you say to them sorry, it's a typo??

I based my purchase decision on your advertised information and the ultrabook is not cheap by itself and now you're saying sorry, it's a typo?

I already do another media test right now (50% brightness, WiFi off, bluetooth off) and again, as expected, i can't even hit 1hour 50minutes for h.264 media before the battery is down to 5%.

My order number is #189561. My question and big concern right now is that what if you arrange for a new battery for me and the results is the same? That i can't even achieve 4 hours, that is half of your advertised 8 hours. Can i then do a full refund? Cause i feel very cheated right now to find out that it is actually a 32Wh battery than 44Wh as advertised for the ultrabook.

Hi ebackbone,

No problem on the refund, we can refund the laptop at full price if it's still in the original condition. smile.gif

As mentioned, it was a mistake. We are human too, and human make mistake. We totally had no intention to cheat you, sorry for the inconvenience caused.

As for the 8 hours battery life, we are pretty sure under normal surfing the battery can last 7 to 8 hours, it has been tested in U4 32wh battery.

Thanks.
