Holy craps! I think my clutch cable just snapped! What should I do? Tomorrow is Sunday, which means Proton isn't open. And I probably have to use a tow truck to move it there. Sigh.

Btw, how much does the original front skirt cost? Mine got cracked quite badly when I hit a curb. Planning to replace that whole thing.

2005 ~ 2007, old wau style front grill and tail gate design. Got flaw on rear spindle, wheel could fly off. Plotong made a recall, but not all the Shawie went back to replace the flaw spindle

2008 and above, front grill use net type, tailgate removed wau design. Spindle already improved and is strong.

thanks MR.Davidke for this info so it's only about outside design and the Spindles no problems improved like hard clutch pedal and coil pack

although I've found 2005/06 savvy for good price (6xxx rm) and it has done 90 k so do u think its good deal bro

BTW the seller told me its otr but I don't know what does that mean ?!!

IMHO,
ask the seller about the rear spindle. Have it been fixed or not? If no you can ask to reduce the price just to fix the rear spindle problem.

the OTR price means the price is including insurance cover, processing fee to change the name on the geran by JPJ, puspakom inspection and roadtax (if the roadtax died already)

Maybe some otai Shawie can add more / correct me if I'm wrong. hmm.gif

Best is source for 2008 to be safe. As far as I understand, less than 10% of Shawie owner went back for the spindle recall from Plotong whistling.gif Tanyalah sini, bape orang 1st batch Shawie belom lagi tayar terbang? Replace both spindle will cost you cincai RM500. I, choose to upgrade Plotong GaGa FLX, skali gus braking system smua upgrade hampir kat 1k doh.gif

Hard clutch, it really depends on luck. NOX clutch is the softest I've ever tested from so many Shawie I've put my hands on.

Coil pack, UK Plotong Lotus made a recall, to migrate coil pack from behind to infront of brake fluid reservoir. Ayam wondering can be done locally and why local Plotong didn't make such recall hmm.gif

Just remember AMT is expansive to maintain, but that's all. Basically, across all the Shawies shares the same plobrems. Good luck in hunting.

It's not ONLY about spindle. Without wheel, what is the use for ABS? 15 inches rims, will fly even further. A car that can't drive, you will not need an airbag unless u plan to throw the car into the sea & make it a boat.

Anyway, I'm not trying to scare you. It's good that you buy an H-Line version that came with ABS/Airbags, but make sure you spend to replace/upgrade the spindle in the 1st place. You wouldn't wanna lose 1 tayar when driving.

hi guys n gals,

just wanna share my experience with my savvy manual hi-line.
was driving along jln duta heading towards the toll , and the left rear wheel/ tyre COMPLETELY detached!!!!!!!!!! mad.gif
luckily did not hit anything and no one hit me! imagine its a bit like what u see when an f1 car loses a wheel!
skidding on the ground on 3 wheels..............
anyway managed to stop eventually by the roadside.
so shocked that i forgot to try and find the wayward wheel/tyre.
got a tow truck to tow to workshop; ended replacing all 4 rims with 2 nd hand ones, a new tyre! and also the rear hub / spindle etc. sighhhhhhhhhhh
i will post a pic soon as i can.
BTW, my car was sent to the Mutiara damansara sc for a check up when proton issued the recall.
Just wondering what i can do....... write to the Star ? complain consumer affairs tribunal?

Just friendly advice to all savvy owners, be careful of yr rear wheel hub/ spindle ! Get it checked regularly.

I got what do u mean bro and u r right in this point but the question here is if the spindles are already replaced on this 2006 model or even not so I replace them would the car be ok by then and extra problems or different with 2008

There's no other way to confirm whether the car was sent for recall/rework/replacement of the spindle, unless you open up the hub brake, detach the wheel bearing to see by yourself.

Sendiri tengok itu batang sebelah kiri macam mancis, itu ori 2005 ~ 2007 Sawi. Yang belah kanan tu gua order Plotong GaGa FLX mia, kasi kao kao upgred. wub.gif

And yes, technically the spindle is the only worry because the rest of the car pretty much the same. The sarung depan and tailgate tiade wau signature boley beli kedai potong wink.gif

I just have seen a two savvys today but i didn't like both of them the both have very hard clutch so that seems the hard clutch pedal is another common problems is savvy cars. now I'm thinking to look at Satria I think it's much better!

p/s: btw, if Satria make sure you look for 1.5MT or 1.6MT. Bcoz 1.3MT is just the same, will have klac kabel issue whistling.gif 1.5 and 1.6 uses haidrolik geh. But hor, haidrolik pump oso can go picah geh doh.gif I used to drib 1.6 Wigra, midnight run whilst attacking Semban haiwei the blardy pump picah, snap the clutch fork assembly as well. In the end took 1 day leave stuck in workshop DIY welding the fork and replace klac pam shakehead.gif
