Dear all lowyat user, recently i have just bought a chervolet optra 1.6 (2005 model) from a shop in penang island. After i bought the car i notice that the car petrol consumption is crazily high. RM80 only allows me to go for 220km++ (I maintained the RPM below 2000 all the time). It cost me RM0.35/little of RON 95 petrol. This is really crazy, i have change the plug, battery, black oil (fully syntetic, RM260) and also auto oil RM260 (pakelo 1) but this problem still cannot be fixed. The forman told me that there is no leaking of petrol at all. In total i have spent more then RM1500++ to repair this car... May i know is there any expert here that can help me? or is it maybe i have to tune the engine or what?? haizzz.... i am really sad for buying this car... help me pls, if u got any suggestion pls reply my post or sms me at 017-5878829.. your help will be much appreciated!!!!!

Only solution: Sell car. You should buy a VIVA in the first place if you so concerned about FC!

Dear all, I'm seeking for advices here.

My honda city 2008, iDSi, RM65 petrol RON95, only gave me 360~380km with 11-12km/L. Purely city driving.

I think there is a problem.

Using shell 10-40w semi syn.
Using shell Ron95.
Air Con blast only 1 or 2 with 50% cold temp.
tyre press: front 32psi. Rear 30psi
*
Normal. Dun complain. City drive is like this.

Ford Fiesta 1.6 Sport Hatchback

Full tank = 42 Liters (ie RM1.90 x 42 = RM79.80)

5.8L/100km = 39.266km/L = 4.8sen/km

I am not sure if you calculate your fuel correctly or not...but your maths definitely fails...

5.8l/100km= RM 11.02/100km = 11 cen/km......4.8sen??? LOL. Kancil also cannot achieve lar dey. doh.gif

Bro feista is consider right drove a hybrid car.

5.8L = 1.9 Ron 95 = Rm11.02 = 100 km
That mean 1km = 0.11 sen.

If full tank = Rm79.80 can achieve 725km per full tank

Wah cool.
*
doh.gif 11cents ok...not 0.11sen...which means not even 1 cent!!! LOL. Hybrid also lose like this!!! sweat.gif

Can never achieve that mileage from that full tank i guess... All those figures are only what shown by the trip computer, not the actual fuel consumption... Even Honda Civic Hybrid will show 24km/, but the actual is lesser... Trip computer always shows beautiful figure...  cry.gif
*
Computer vely smart at cheating their human owners....haha...that's why forget the trip meter....pump full->drive->pump full->record fuel usage is the most accurate.

My Inspira is overly honest though....shows me 90l/100km a few seconds after started the car...LOL. Like that 1 tank can only drive 59km....haha.

i see this kind of ah beng post oso bey tahan,u make it sounds like we have to live with any kind of fuel consumption or else get a viva?how intelligent is that, its definately a problem, and your sort of reply is not a good way to show off your brain

220km for a 50litre tank is a serious problem even for the most fuel guzzling sports car,not only does the consumption is a problem,u go anywhere a bit far also problem, have to stop at least 3 times going down KL from his location.
*
You so smart, took you almost 2 months to reply to a question (without providing any new solution) which i totally forgot already?? If you've done research Optra is generally a fuel guzzler, coupled with 8 years old car...what do you expect?? Hybrid level FC?? doh.gif. Although I do admit it is a bit high though, should get at least 300km++ with 50 liters even in 100% city drive.

But do you have a better solution than to sell the car?? Or you want to ask the owner to dump more money into a black hole to fix the car with uncertain outcome??

I dunno, even during my heavy footed day, i will get 250km for rm50 amount of fuel, 1.3cc vs 1.8cc
Maybe, only that im amazed with that fact, guess my car is not really a fuel guzzler afterall
*
If 50/50 mixed driving...my Inspira 2.0 can get 11km/l. You are getting about 10.5km/l in 60/40...same as my 2.0cc...tongue.gif

But for 100% city jam my 2.0 can only get 8km/l.

Because when youre refuelling during the day/hot day, the particle expands so theoretically you get less petrol.

Well for me, it is logical la. Whenever i have to refuel during the day, i only put in 15-20. The rest i will go during the night.

Anyways my Kenari 1.0 rm50 can get me 260km.
Around 11km/l city drive

Full tank can last around 310-320km Rm70.

http://drivesmarterchallenge.org/money-sav...tips/myths.aspx

Myth: Warmer gasoline expands, while cooler gasoline is denser. Since gasoline is priced by the gallon, buying gas when ground temperatures are cooler means more BTUs per gallon.

Fact: According to Consumer Reports, the temperature of gasoline, as it is being pumped from underground tanks into your vehicle, changes very little, if any, during the course of the day. Any more gas you may obtain is negligible.

People in Malaysia hari-hari FC..always wants to compare FC by car...in reality all pointless...it all depends on route and traffic jam.

Here, thanks to last night lorry crash into two cars explode and boom and burn at Sunway or Kesas Toll plaza...jamming the whole Petaling Jaya...

here's my FC.

Have you try doing a double blind test? Let someone else pump the petrol for you and don't tell you the brand.
Test the power and calculate the mileage.

I doubt you can tell which brand is which at all.

Thanks for sharing...LOL.

IMO, all these "fuel saving" device are BS. Anyone here claiming such either must have ulterior motive or got pyscho-ed with unreliable test that doesn't proves anything that these devices work.
