Anyways guys, who's interested in flashing their 970/980 vBIOS?

There's a test version of GPU-Z to flash a new BIOS for the 970/980. Will be trying it in a bit after updating to the latest driver. Reason is because the power limit on the 970 is actually lower than is advertised by manufacturers.

I've seen some people at OCN getting their Gigabyte G1 970s up to 1700mhz core, simply by removing the power limit and effectively disabling the stupid "GPU Boost" nonsense that Nvidia thinks it's so good. Currently Kepler BIOS Tweaker works with Maxwell cards, but not fully. KBT however does give access to the power table though, which is basically the most important thing anyways.

I saw people say they are waiting for a guy by the name of Skynet for his BIOS. Is there someone who will modify the BIOS for the cards out there and we can use it?

After so many years, 9600xt, x800, 4870x2, 5970x2 finally move myself from red to green. Guess the trend now is go green. Lolx.

Took myself gigabyte g1 970 today. Tested cod ghost, watchdog in high detail over my old spec i7 2600k so far so good. Gonna say with this price i love the result and the green led show on side is so cool.

Using latest nvidia driver atm still playing with the nvdia experience.

Any sifu for any suggest for nvidia newbie like me are welcome

O...kay. Latest driver 344.48 just screwed PhysX up and made my previously stable overclock to be... unstable.

First things first, PhysX is not working properly in Batman Akrham City and Origins. Now I don't play those games anymore, but I saw a post on Guru3D stating that PhysX isn't working on objects.



So I went and check it out myself and it indeed DOES NOT work. I'm trying Mirror's Edge now as well, it seems to be fine. Will try Borderlands 2 next.


As for overclocking, my previous 1501mhz on my MSI 970 isn't stable anymore. My card is getting throttled at the same game (Shadow of Mordor and Evil Within, granted the latter is stupidly optimized) on the same settings at 1438mhz. Very odd... It's not like my card is any hotter either.

Could be voltages starting to "burn in". Will troubleshoot more on this later.

Okay for whatever weird reason, my card is throttling even on dota... wth?
Just an hour ago before updating to 344.48, it was fine lol. Will be rolling back to 344.11.

Well,darn it.I was hoping the GTX960 could arrive sooner,and GTX760's price will drop.

Dude, it's shortage throughout the whole world. Everywhere also price increase, newegg, amazon, ncix, tigerdirect, etc.

At last i jump the gun to the Green. Changing my r280x to get Asus GTX980 Strix. =)

TQ for the info, i thought only malaysia increase price....

Went back to 344.11, going to 1515mhz without throttling on my 970. So it seems 344.48 is causing some different voltage reading to either AB (AB hasn't updated for 344.48) or changed something to how power would be fed through the card. The latter is unlikely as that's controlled within the vbios.

PhysX is working as it should now too.

So yeah, for those on 970 (I cannot confirm for 980, but should be the same), avoid 344.48 for now. Beta is coming in the next couple of weeks.

There's a beta BIOS tweaker for Maxwell already, if anyone is feeling adventurous enough.

Just happen the stock is available and wanted to get back to green. Was always with green from the early times.

guys, wta about zotac and gainward brand for the gtx 970. how is the card performed? any coil whine? is it a good brand? temperature? noise? been googling these 2 brand and cant find the review. thanks

What was the lowest price here for 970 before price increase?

Last time I ask was 1199 for Zotac I think.
