Mind to mention which branch so tat v can avoid

Looking from the other angle, may be more people should go to that bank, to "torture" and overload the unhelpful staff with the ASX purchases! Ha.

Had bad experience with RHB, slow and lousy service. Adding salt to injury, after all the hassles, result = 0.00

So I have been avoiding that bank. BUT the staff has achieved what he wants, less customers troubling him.

Guess I should go back to that RHB to "torture" my friend there.

Cheerio.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Apr 18 2014, 11:38 AM)
yes, dedicated ASNB counter

but they prefer to serve "confirmed" transactions such as withdrawals or ASB top up - not randomly trying to top up for one person,

such is the ugly nature of KPI driven benchmarks.

i've seen numbers being called every minute, but the transaction is delayed as the supervisor keep piling the transactions (once they called your number) to the side, just for the sake of trying to beat the system (KPI is recorded as the numbers of tickets processed in certain time)
*
So that is why some collect the passbooks and then process them later. Wondered why this operation mode as calling back the customers later is not as efficient as processing the transaction straight away when the customers handed in the passbooks.

At MB that I go to, one staff processes the transaction straight away while the counter next to that collects the passbooks first. I guess it is up to the staff on the methodology.

The weird thing that I noted is, when I go to deposit/withdraw from my saving or FD, I have NOT experienced the poor service that I sometimes see when I go there for the ASX. Any one noted the same thing?

Cheerio.

P/S For those in Sarawak, enjoy your Good Friday break!

Hello there, i am new to this ASX. I have just got my passbook.
Question is we can invest through online such as Maybank right.Who have tried that before succesfully?

In that way no need to go bank and queue
*
Bumi or non bumi?

If bumi, can either go to ASNB/ banks to buy units or purchase via bank's internet platform.

If non bumi, go straight to ASNB/banks and do not collect the RM200 (monopoly joke here).

Yup, given special permission by ex-PM Mahathir but some mix minority are excluded like Peranakan Baba-Nyonya & chitty melaka

Sorry, an off the topic question.

Wonder how many politicians invest in ASNB funds. Too small for them?

hi,

I have a Malay fren,he inherited rm1miilon cash, and now he want to put in all in ASB under his name, wife and relatives name and keep there for 10 years without taking out a single cent, how much will he get total after 10 years?
*
For RM 1 million in ASB, the compounded total after 10 yrs at different rates are as below:

7% 1,967,151
8% 2,158,925
9% 2,367,364
10% 2,593,742

Lucky friend of yours and all the best to him! Good that he wants to grow the wealth rather than spending it! Wise move!

Managed to get RM100 for ASM this afternoon.

Is El nino season (draught) back now for AS1M & ASW? Not a single purchase for the past few weeks. Ha.

Hi guys, just need some advise.

Say I have a few thousand.. not tens of thousand.. just a small amount... say 5k in my Bank account (savings).

And I won't be using/needing it in the forseeable future... should I just leave it there or would it be better to just put it in ASB since I can still withdraw at any time.

I know its a small amount but it's still something.

Advise? Thanks.
*
Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words (and it tells a better story too!).

Attached Image

After 10 years, your RM5K will be

RM5,803 in saving

RM10,795 in ASB

Which one do you prefer?

thanks for the wonderful graph bro.

That's what I thought... coz I have a few thousand that I forsee I won't be needing any time soon.

Coz no commitments, and currently still living with the folks.

So I thought, why not just put in ASB and when I need it I can go to the bank and withdraw.

Wonder if there's a downside to it.
*
My layman's view/question on ASX's downside is, will it continue its good return if there is a change in the govt?

Don't know whether once you have an ASB account, will that affect your application for assistance from the govt? E.g. BR1M?

I mean Maybank Savings account only gives interest max at 1.66% p.a.

I can't imagine ASB ever getting that low a return.
*
I see, you were referring to the reduction in ASB dividend rate.

Overall, consistently better than saving account and also FD rate (except for 2 yrs during the last financial crisis)!

Cheerio.

P/S I have excluded the ASB bonus in the above. About 1-2% extra p.a.

Why must worry about change in gomen & the effect on ASNB & it's funds. The same people/staff would be working there. Maybe got some "cosmetic" changes (elect new PR/other friendly & remove BN friendly directors).

hint: juz look at Penang & Selangor District Council people/staff whistling.gif
*
Good comparison.

But I have my suspicion that the magic hand in there may be removed or reduced with a new govt. E.g., no more special IPO allocation for ASX funds, plus other sure-win deals from the govt.

Of course, ideally one will want the fund managers to do their job with a high return without any hidden/special treatments from other companies/govt.

Just speaking my mind.

Owh. So the interest in calculated on a monthly basis?

Like 8% p.a on the min daily balance of that prticular month?

I got an Excel spreadsheet for the calculation in this forum a few weeks ago. Can't remember the page number now. Look back and see.

Tried my luck this afternoon at ASNB.

KOSONG after waiting for more than 1 hr! Ha.

Mine are usually hundreds rather than your thousands. Why? Why? How? How?

While waiting there noted the following:
* no chinese there except me
* 2 new applications for the ASB (so, extending this to the whole of M'sia, 8 hr * 2 * 17,000 * 20 days = 0.5 million applications for the new ASB)
* quite some work for one to get a new passbook, form to fill etc.

Managed to get only RM100 ASW today at MB.

I really think El Nino is here now for the common people. For the preferred customers, I think they can still get the thousands or tens of thousands!

Yes, it is just a metaphor

El Nino - dry, drought season

and currently a "dry" season, not getting much of ASX units (at least for me).

I think I am going to stop trying and all. When rethink, just like doing useless thing. When the workers incorporate, esp when the xividen paid day, and saying can't open new account coz no unit. And in the end get pawn by me when updating another account with an amount.
*
Giving up so easily? I started late last year, though not very successful with my strikes, my mindset is to try my luck when I have the time. Yes, can be disappointing at times. Don't aim for x amount or y strikes rate. Just get whatever is there.

Better objective, better mindset, peace at heart and mind! Ha.

Don't quite understand your question.

PM here has 1 or 2 counters for ASNB customers. Get a ticket number and wait.
