I also just came back from post office, no units also  tongue.gif

I think people still going to withdraw their dividend within these few days gua? coz maybe yesterday the queue is too long and some people don't mind losing the few days dividend just to save the waiting time?  icon_idea.gif

One may think I am a die-hard ASM chaser, went to the 4th place this afternoon (MB) as not to waste the day.

Outcome, another 0.00 Ha ha.

I terminated my kids' FD before the due date hoping to transfer their money to ASM (their mum has the vision to open their ASM accounts when it was not fully subscribed in the early days. So a wise move).

Now, their money is just floating there with no home! Bad move by their dad in terminating their FD!

Hope to find a home for their money soon, hopefully ASM. Ha.

Cheerio.

No better way, have written at length about it in the past. Conclusion, it benefits:
(a) Those who are closely related to bank tellers or managers.
(b) Those living nearer to banks with helpful staff and have a lot of free time to go frequently.

Or you may need to start electing runners from those in your family who are not working to do the 'trying'. Usually retired people or housewives.
*
Interested to know more.

On your (a), how can that help beside checking the system regularly to see if there are units available?

Or do they have a system to alert them or they can see things which are not normally view-able to bank counter staff?

Just wondering.

Najib Launches ASB 2 For Gen Y Bumiputera
http://malaysiandigest.com/news/495479-naj...bumiputera.html

ASB 2 is targeted for the Generation Y Bumiputeras between the age of 19 and 34 and also the other ASB unit holders who have reached their maximum investment of 200,000 units.

The prime minister said PNB will credit an additional 10 units for those investing between today and Dec 31, 2014 while those who open an account today will get a RM50 voucher, an equivalent of 50 units.

Apa ini? Adding salt/acid to injury lah. Non bumi cannot apply and now extra give-away. cry.gif

This is really stretching their power a bit too far. vmad.gif

Sorry, off topic.

Hope those who know can help me here.

AA
ASM has no investment per account limit now?

BB
No more bumi and non bumi split in ASM?

CC
If a bumi sells his ASM units, then a non bumi can buy that units?

DD
For other ASX with bumi and non bumi split, when a bumi sells his units, non bumi cannot buy that units, right?

Thanks.

May I know is it possible for non-bumi to open ASM account now if there's units available to purchase in the market?
*
In theory, it is possible.

BUT ...

It depends among others:

* whether the staff is willing to open an account for you
* whether there is available units for you to buy (you have to buy a minimum of RM100 units for your new account to be valid).

Good luck!

Managed to get RM1900 for my son at MB today.

Have been to that bank many many times before and this is the first time I got lucky! Hopefully the chain is now broken and "free entry" for me now. Ha.

Funny thing is, when the staff tried 1000, no strike, then tried 500, ada, tried another 500, ada again. Looks like this system does not like 1000 and prefer to use smaller number. I know, may be incoming units are at 500, 500 etc and not 1000 and thus unsuccessful at 1000.

Cheerio.

Like to have your view on this.

I am impressed with the PM staff on helping their customers with the ASX purchases. They will try and try, unlike most bank staff where after one try, they will stop with "no units available".

Thinking of getting some chocolate and sweets for the PM ladies.

2 ways to view this - good and bad. Is this OK? Seem as a bride? They expect more "treats" later? Ha.

Just thank them after the purchase? Done that.

Thanks.

from my personal experience, PM staff is the best in helping me with ASx fund.  Some banks staff also helpful but it's depend on the "mood". Most time always unhelpful  shakehead.gif

My advice, don't give anything to them. After all transaction are finish, juz give them "big" sincere Smile & Say thank you (your tone should be sincere & grateful).

Noted and thanks.

I was unsure, 50-50 sitting on the fence. And thus ask here for some view.

Yes, some are friendly and helpful. I even cracked jokes about wasting my petrol going to the bank. After 0.00 success, that bank staff suggested to me to use a motor bike the next time to save petrol. I replied that I would walk to the bank instead! Ha.

Since there are many queries on how the ASM dividends are calculated, I have put together a simple spreadsheet to do the calculations.

I have cross checked using my 2013 ASM data and the calculated dividend is the same as what I got in my passbook (down to the cent). Ha. Like what others have said, the dividend is calculated using the minimum amount in each month.

I have put in some dummy values as illustrations.

Nothing high tech about it. Simple and easy to use. You only need to follow one instruction - enter your data in the YELLOW cells ONLY. Try it using your ASM 2013 data and see if the calculated dividend is the same as what is in your passbook.

By the way, I take NO responsibility in the accuracy/reliability of this spreadsheet. Use it on your own discretion.

Cheerio.

P/S I have attached file here before. For some reason, it does not allow me to this time. Anyone with similar problem? Thanks. Will try to attach later.

PP/S Maybe Excel file is not allowed here?

Attached File  ASM_dividend_cals.zip ( 27.85k ) Number of downloads: 62

To protect against spreading viruses in LY forum, I think one cannot send executable file (e.g. Excel etc) in LY. I have attached the zipped spreadsheet above. I have scanned it before sending and it is virus free.

The yearly dividend is after the 31 March row.

No but I like analysing numbers.

Everything can be described in numbers. From rocket science to whatever there is in this universe.

A Brilliant Mind is a nice movie to watch (about a professor who tried to describe human behaviour etc using numbers. Later he won a Nobel prize).
