Hi,
I am facing difficulty verifying the amex card to my paypal account. I am not sure what is wrong with it but when i try to verify, it says it is invalid card. Anyone having this problem before? Thanks
*
Nope, you need to call MBB card center to "release" your card in order for Paypal's payment/verification process to go thru.
Now to keep my card secure(AMEX are popular of fraud case), I will remove the card from Paypal once I done with online purchase.

U would also need to confirm your amex card with paypal, rm10 will be charged which will be reimburse later to paypal account
*
Yes, but for my case, even the first step(charge rm10) also get blocked. Now MBB are quite strict on this. So, give MBB a call before you want to do anything with Paypal.
BTW, using treatpoints to waive GST is how much? I see their website are slightly different.

The card level doesn't matter.

What matters is either Principal or Supplementary.

are you saying that paypal not secure enough?

Yes(if nobody hacked your account) and no.
But reading other forums/replies, AMEX are not secured at all.
Security are 1 of the reason, another is i'll try not do buy often from Ebay, haha. With all the hassle, it will more or less control me.

it is true that AMEX are not secured enough..
but i think all the case happen here are not related to paypal at all..
almost all the case are directly to merchant...
*
That I don't want to find out. Last time I had a fraud case and it is not easy to settle, have to run few places(stay in Seremban and have to do police report in Puchong). So, keeping any back door locked is what I'll do now. You are not wrong is just that I want to have a peace of mind. No offence.

Is there any way to increase credit limit on MBB2C Gold other than going to Menara Maybank?anyway to do online?
*
Best way is show them your latest EA. And you shall not apply on the same year, like you got your card last year(using 2012 EA) and to get it approved, you must show them this year's EA(2013).
Or for faster way, ask them to see can temporary increase your CL.

i am unlucky this month. Swiped for about RM965 on 1 March alone. Miscalculated that I need to pay Unifi!

As of today, my CB quota already hit RM49.99. FML  doh.gif

3 more weekends to pump petrol (estimated RM4.50 CB "loss"). Now stop all retail spending until April come  sweat.gif
p/s: At petrol pump, how do you set a fixed amount before pumping? Still couldnt figure it out LOL  blush.gif

i can control my spending to sub-1K per month. mbb2amex is darn good for me liao.

i cannot, however, spend so much just to qualify for 10xRM50 per transaction in a month. if no such qualifier, i'd have gotten this card longggggg time ago.

my spending behavior: petrol pump in a week is around 30-35, enough for around 300KM, and with some to spare. telco bill is <RM30 per line (postpaid). seldom dine out or doing groceries (1-2 times per month only). no utilities bill to pay (due to low usage, already subsidized fully by tnb/syabas).

most of my high-spending (every few months) is not in WISE's cashback category (computer parts, car accessories). Unifi is not qualified for cashback. splitting bills to 3xRM50 is not "wise" considering i can easily get around RM7.50 cashback with mbb2amex already. WISE give me none.

so WISE is not practical for my spending.  brows.gif  thumbup.gif banks doesnt make much money from me via credit card  sweat.gif bottom line, i save more by spending less.
*
Well, my monthly spending are same as you. But I still get 2 cards.
But after I have 2 cards. The amount of money I give to my parents are lesser as I help paying their utilities bill and groceries.

Hi everyone.. I have a tricky question here about converting credit card into cash with minimise cost by using Maybank Amex... I need the help from you all to answer whether my explanation is correct or wrong..

First, register two paypal account under your name. second, top up one of your paypal account by using Maybank Amex during weekend to enjoy 5% cash back. (ie: RM1,000)
Next, withdrawal the money that you transfer to your second paypal account to any local bank in Malaysia. (with fees 3.9% +RM2 reduction).

Overall, we still gain because the fees we paid was RM39+RM2=RM41, but the cash back we earn was RM50! and at the same time... we get the cash!

Any idea anyone?
*
In actual you saved rm9 only. A stupid way. The way to get cash from credit card without paying fees(and getting CB) is help others to buy stuffs/pay bills which I'm doing now.

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Mar 12 2014, 01:43 PM)
yeah, for me, i wanted to pay my parent's utility bills too but my father prefer to get bill first before paying. We had many times tnb/syabas double-charged us becaue they didnt capture previous month's payment and automatically assume we didnt pay at all. Many times we've gone to the offices just to dispute the bills vmad.gif
*
If those jerks come once every 2 months, then 1 month sure under estimate and another will be taking real reading. When you are getting estimated bill, you can take the reading your self and give to TNB to get the actual bill. I'm doing this last time so I got no problem on the bill. Now I'm paying extra most of the time, just to hit the rm1000 quota.
Always check your bill's cut off date, then you won't have this problem.

Sorry guys, need some help on Maybank AMEX. If i do purchasing online using AMEX at foreign website (ex. Levi's US) which do accept AMEX, will i get 5x point too? The 5x cash rebate will only valid if the processed transaction fall on weekend, am i correct? cheers.gif smile.gif
*
Yes, then after sometime you will get fraud case on your card. AMEX's security are quite poor on this. That's why I use Paypal for online transaction, once done, I'll remove the card from the Paypal account.

need to use alternate tm(phone and multimedia) to pay streamyx using amex

Well, if just phone line, it is rm30 only. But with screamyx, it will be > rm60. Just change the thing and you are good to go. Last time when I register the account, I also think which to choose, but because it is phone+scramyx, I choose phone+multimedia direct thumbup.gif

hey to all the sifus here, few questions i want to ask =P

(I am only eligible to apply for the gold cards)

1) No cashback given on weekdays at all?
2) If the place accept AMEX, then confirm I will get the 5X points?
3) AMEX can be used for online payments? (umobile bill, lelong.com.my purchases, TNB bill)
4) Not listed but just in case someone already went to these places, could you tell me if you still get 5% or not:
- Shell station section 17 IZZARA/CHIN NYIT SIN
5) I know the points can be used to rebate GST (12500 for RM50), but other than that any use for it? I'm considering whether or not to get another card (ocbc titanium) for non-weekend transactions if the points are not very useful. Any forums that has the full list of claimable items?

Finally, apologies for asking all these and not researching myself. Honestly I try to find and read but sometimes the more I read the more confused I get :S. Really sorry for inconvenience caused! Thanks in advance for your replies!
*
1. only TP X1 for both cards on weekdays.
2. on weekends only you'll be getting 5X, amex not accepted in lot of places. But with Maybank credit card reader, it should able to.
3. I'm using it to pay my TNB, TM only. You need to have Maybank2u account, register like normal then under bill payment you can select which account to be used. Usually it will show 3 accounts(your saving account, master and AMEX). Select AMEX, if you can see the payee account is there, then you can pay, else you can't. Indah water cannot on this case.
4. As long as the petrol pump able to read your card, then you can enjoy that 5% on weekends
5. If your monthly spending are > rm1000, suggest you apply for WISE for petrol(and another that you use the most).
I'm getting total of rm150 cash back with WISE and MBB 2 cards thumbup.gif

You are giving WRONG information. 5x TP for AMEX is EVERYDAY. Additional 5% cash back for AMEX is during weekends only. Read 1st post.

Refer to the TP catalogue to see what items can be redeemed. Only apply for OCBC and/or Wise if you will gain benefits from them. Refer to their features.
*
Yup, is my bad on not looking properly on that, read the T&C from maybank and they never say anything, just 5X. I thought was X1 on normal days. doh.gif

Hi fellow seniors, I did stumble upon with number of previous replies in regards to AMEX unauthorized transactions. What would be the best workaround to safely use AMEX for online transactions? Would Paypal somehow will reduce the risk? My another concern is, is it by paying TnB, Unifi, DG or even Movie Ticketing be it (TGV or GSC) by AMEX through online transactions would also increase the risk of getting exploit?  hmm.gif
*
Well, when sheet want to happen, it will still happens.
The only way is do manual swipe(which not that practical since now we are doing more online shopping).
So far I don't have any illegal transaction takes place(using it for 4-5 months already). But when I want to buy online(usually from US Ebay), then I will "put" back AMEX to Paypal. With all the fraud case taking place, MBB card center are trying their best to counter this. When I was trying to put the card to Paypal(need to swipe USD1 for verification), it won't allow you until you call card center to unblock your card for Payapl transaction.
To make it safe, you just tell the card center how much you are going to swipe and once done, remove the card from your Paypal account.
M2U should be safe from getting hacked, been using it for 10 years and no problem with it.

if you haven't exhausted your RM50/month rebate then its cheaper to use AMEX on weekends because of the 5% rebate and 5x TP.
if you've already exhausted it then use the Mastercard as it offers lower Admin fees
