all these while i use ron95 from petronas (most powerful) as compare to ron 95 from shell. The only two petrol station available conveniently around my area. Recently i switch to ron 97. At first i tried from shell instant feel the difference...smooth n powerful even light footed. Then I tot of trying petronas ron 97...can't compare at all i don't feel the difference with their ron 95. Now I'm sticking to shell ron97. better for my city.
*
just before the petrol drop price, i've switched from shell ron95 to caltex ron95...instant feel the difference..now i just pump caltex ron97.

heard from my fren that his fren tried to track the difference between shell and caltex ron95, drive all the way to genting to test it out with some machine/computer attached to the car. said that shell has more knocking (i don't really understand).

but i can feel it after switching, after using shell ron95 for the past 3 years. drawback is that caltex is not everywhere. i got 2 around my house area. but it's a pain to find one when u r on a trip

You add water to the coolant, those you get original from honda or toyota, you can use 1 bottle and the rest top up with water... you dont use them full stregth

try to use filtered water and dont use those cheap coolant, those RM5 a bottle green stuff

Earlier i was doing some changes to the bulb and noticed the reserve tank was empty ... just in time

so went and flushed the radiator and used toyota coolant
*
Hi. I'm still using my ori coolant from Honda since I get the car new from 3 years back . Just recently start going out to service.

A bit worried as first time see the mechanic add water without asking me

you can use water... distilled or filtered water, as the top common issues with the coolant is rust...

the normal coolant from manafacturer, u use 1:1 ratio...
*
shit...they are using normal water i think...i am doomed sweat.gif

Anyone know the price for front wheel bearing? Previously changed for rear one I think rm370 per bearing quoted by outside workshop. Didn't think much just changed. Foreman said its oem for Honda Thailand.

Service booklet did not mentioned replacement. Just inspection. However, normally when the car hits 100,000km, it is good to replace it also because it is a wear and tear item.

Serpentine belt is the belt that connects the water pump, alternator and aircond compressor. When you open your bonnet, it is on your left side. You can only see 1 belt there.
*
How much to replace it? In SC and out of SC

Hi guys,

My city is going to reach its 7th anniversary soon.
I'm just wondering what kind of parts that I may have to look to replace or take note on, other than tyres, engine oil and filter, cabin filter, engine air filter, atf fluid.

I have replaced all the brake pads before, replaced both rear wheel bearings as well.

Any ideas?

Replacement of parts normally goes by mileage.. not age. My car is on its 8th year already with only 100k km on the odometer.

Perhaps you can tell us your car's mileage and I will recommend you according.. Thanks.
*
Hi Bro, yeah sorry. Should have added the info anyway.
Its on 102k km.

Suggest you to replace:-

serpentine belt (replace for precautionary measure as cars timing belt normally needs replacement at around 80k);

iridium spark plugs (City plugs needs to be replaced at 100k interval):

Fuel filter (if your last replacement is back at 40k. I recommend to replace at 60k interval instead of 40k);

when was the last time you replaced your:

ATF DW1 fluid?
*
Yeah. Forgot to mention I have just changed my iridium spark plug to ngk branded at 100k km recently.

ATF DW1 fluid I change every 20k km. So that's covered.

Coolant I flushed it once year 4 or 5 in official sc, when outside workshop suddenly help me to top up water. Since then I topup with the correct official Honda coolant (topup, not flush again)

Fuel filter I never changed but I was servicing at officially service centre until the first 3 years ended. How much does it cost?

Belt have not changed yet but thats what on my mind thats why wanted to ask here.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

Yes. they are the same. The fuel pump is not included. They will swap your existing fuel pump to the new strainer.
*
bought the fuel filter from a stockist store near my area setapak, previously asked a well known honda stockist, hingan qouted rm190.
i bought for rm185 (not due to price but more due to convenience).

asked the stockist if its an easy job, he said it's quite troublesome, asked him if he know any reliable workshop, he recommended one workshop, who quoted rm120 for the labor.
sound about right?

just dont feel like going to my neighborhood workshop for this kind of work.

Rm300++ for d fuel strainer is quite expansive...
i think SC charge about Rm350 with labour...
what d market price to change d fuel strainer?
as i heard is about Rm200 with labour...
*
you are right, from official website, they quoted rm303.73 for the fuel strainer.
based on the highlighted part, labour seems to be about rm20 in difference?

but of course, they might have already overcharged for normal service labor, hence they might add in minimal charges to the labor service for fuel strainer.

but i think getting the fuel strainer outside is around that price, coz i asked two honda stockist. even lazada also showing similar pricing.
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/genuine-...0.html?search=1

now the only question would be the labor change outside.

extra info:
the stockist i get from mentioned you can only get ori from honda for this fuel strainer. however, I'm not sure if he mean from his shop, or for the whole market.

edit:

some extra reading.

It is not an easy job to swap the fuel strainer. Better let the expert do it. I plan to change mine soon at AR Autocare.

A tip for you before swaping. Try to keep your fuel tank low when you want to swap the filter. This is to ensure fuel won't drip much when doing the swap.
*
yup..i agree its not an easy job, which is why i dont feel comfortable to just like any neighbourhood workshop to do the job.
that's why i asked recommendation from the stockist.

thanks for the tips!!

have you done it before?

I only change once at SC during the 40k service. Now my car is clocking in at 100k.. Will swap the fuel strainer together with the serpentine belt. Plan to let AR Automan do it as they specialize in Honda though the pricing is comparable to SC.
*
Now I'm confused. Is Honda City 2011 come with serpentine belt, timing belt or timing chain? Or serpentine belt is not same component on top of timing belt/chain

This bengkel is ok. Their price is only slightly cheaper than SC but they know what they do.

I had a good experience with them for fixing my coolant hose leak and solve my rear seat kruk kruk sound, all for only rm18
*
yeah..i've been looking for this kind of workshop since I stop going SC after the first 3 years. glad that i know now.
normal ATF, engine oil, tyre are fine.

but for "heavier" stuff, would like to find some specialist instead.
and since my car is going 7 years , 100k km, i may ask them do a round check and see if everything else is fine.

i planned to at least drive my car for another 3 years, loan free laugh.gif

Pls request them to inspect specific items that u found abnormal. Otherwise they will just do their routine inspection.
However if u request them to check on specific items, they will look into it.

sure thanks for the advice.
