Sure do bro. My colleague drives the same city as me. The sound of the starter is different from mine. sad.gif his car is one month newer than mine. lol
*
Yes.. the old starter i don't know what brand.. The start up sounds a bit harsh.. After replacing it with Denso, the start up crank sounds sharper (like laser sound).

Honda known issue is the starter!
*
Yes. They knew it. They had issued a Product Update Programme back in 2011 to replace the affected starter for affected batches.

Just went for 30K service

- was told that AC service was compulsory (as usual, SC person gives the ball juggling decision, if choose not to do it, warranty may be voided etc)
- charge was RM73.21 (element assy AC) + RM190 (AC service)

was it really compulsory? or ..
*
to be honest, RM190 is quite alright. Outside charges about the same price if not more.

anyone knows what is the best tyre for 16" honda city face lift 2012?

would appreciate if anyone could state the best price as well as the location.

thx
*
Due to the limited tyre choices available for Honda City, i suggest you to go for Michelin XM2 (185/55/16). It should cost you around rm250 a piece at Hin Leong tyre Klang.

i see, how can i get it fixed, bro?

Should i go to nearest Honda SC and get it warrantied FOC?

thanks
*
You can try but from what I see, Honda don't want to admit the newer City came with faulty starter motor. They will blame it on a weak battery.

if i remembered correctly, Michelin XM2 also have a 195/55/16 - so its a little wider

i am on the ori model CPC2 but a little bigger 195/55/16
*
195/55/16 will make the tyre look fat due to thicker side walls wor.

25000 km exchange front and rear, change all new 4 tyres should be on 50000 km ??

Please correct me if I doing wrong  smile.gif
*
It is recommended to swap front & to rear every 10,000km.. But I do it every 15,000-20,000km depending on feel of the steering & whether alignment is out.

Replace all 4 new tyres are subjective. There are a lot of anomalies that will affect the lifetime of a tyre. Some tyres last a lot longer than other, how we drive the car, how we take care of the tyres etc..

It is recommended to replace every 4 years though..

Hi there.. i try to diy for gearbox oil replacement. i asked in teamcity forum but seem no one reply me yet, so i try my luck here.

ok, straight to the point. how do you guys measure the gearbox fluid level? measure it during engine off or running?

previous workshop do measure it by running the engine, while other workshop off the engine to measure.

i asked why, as while engine running, the fluid level is way below minimum. he told me that is normal as fluid is pumped all gearbox area. however, i end up asking him to top up until in between L-H (with engine running)

in my city 2005 (cvt) manual book + internet, mentioning to off engine to measure for honda, while other brand is by running the engine.

which one is the correct way? sifus?
*
For Hondas, the correct way is to run the engine & let it heat up for like 5 minutes then turn it off. There on, you can measure the gearbox fluid level.

The easiest way is to replace back the same amount of fluid you drain out. Use an empty bottle to measure the fluid amount.

Remember to use GENUINE HONDA CVT Transmission fluid for your car.

past 2 weeks i felt like my throttle is not really responding.. any recommendation? i wanted to try the liqui moly jet cleaner.. anyone done b4?
*
Could be due to a few reasons namely:-

Dirty throttle body;
Dirty MAF;
Weak battery;
Hot weather which makes combustion less efficient.

Mine one also similar to your case..
I reported to Honda, and they claimed this is common issues for Honda City 12 Facelift...
They will help me to replace it, however need to put my name in the waiting lists... (Zzzzzzzzzz)
Because a lot of people also reported the same issues... and the spare part need to order and send from Japan... it need times...  sad.gif
*
The spare parts are not from Japan. Most are local or Thai made. It's just an excuse to delay the installation.

I changed mine (Denso starter motor & additional grounding cables) back in 2011. Once replaced with new starter motor, never once encountered engine start issue. thumbup.gif

Nope. Mine Honda sent me a letter informing me there's a Product Update Program in which they will replace the starter motor for free.

Old model already ma so not much ppl hanging around here 😋. Overall its a reliable car. You just need go check whether owner had his starter motor replaced or not? City from 2009-2013 has issue of difficult to start due to starter motor issues.

Price wise, try go knock down a little more.. Say maybe 50k

am not sure if our engine can last 10k service internal.. from what i read, there are various comments on this; some say depend on oil type, some engine setup.. maybe other expert can confirm if we use full can service every 10k..
*
No problem to service every 10k as the new CITY is also using L15A7 engine. However, to go 10k OCI, best to use only SN0W20 or the SN0W30 fully synthetic oil. I don't recommend using the mineral oil or semi synthetic oil for 10k OCI as these are dinosaur oil.
