Planning to get Himedia H8. But need to sort out one thing first for my wife. She watches chinese news report on ASTRO. Moving over to media player, can we watch free chinese local news? Prefer to stay away from channels 1 & 2 (govt stations).
Cheerio.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 17 2015, 10:00 AM) in kodi, u can hv addons to get tv1-tv9. chinese news on astro - if u identify the channel name, maybe someone can help. astro does a good job in protecting their proprietory channels, so dun count on it. if they exist for free, may not last long. chinese news from china, plenty - in kodi and other apps. just keep in mind kodi is not auto operate. after installation incl addons, will need some maintenance and updates to keep them going. Thanks. Chinese news on TV7 & 9 are viewable. Hope that my wife will not be too fussy, insisting on the one she is watching (forgot the channel no now). Understand the additional work (and frustrations?) later with media player in watching programs compared to ASTRO. Ha.

QUOTE(limjenson @ Sep 17 2015, 10:31 AM) You can try TVAPPS for chinese channels as well. Thanks. I know there are many chinese channels from China & taiwan. What I am after are daily Msian chinese news report (the ones at 6 or 8 pm). Are these the ones you are referring to?

QUOTE(limjenson @ Sep 17 2015, 02:16 PM) If it's malaysian news like those on Astro channels, as far as I know, there isn't any free streaming available. Thanks for the feedback. Wonder where do M'sians using media player watch local news report? Or they dont watch local news, watch only international news? Ha.

Like to watch concerts. Tried Concerts Archive in Kodi but it does not work. Maybe not maintained and the links are all dead.
Any other add on I can try?
I have tried to find one and Concerts Archive seems to be the only one.
Thanks.
P/S 30 Sept 15
Found out that there are some concerts links as I explored deeper into Phoenix. Some concerts in there but a few years old ones. Better than none.

QUOTE(Ngto @ Sep 28 2015, 09:04 AM) Good News. With Genesis latest update, download feature working again. I saw a note somewhere about downloading in Genisis. I am new to Genisis. I assume that is different from buffering (downloading while not viewing it). Mind explaining Genisis downloading in a line or two? Like torrent downloading? I have been looking around all sorts of tv programs and did not really look at Genisis till last weekend. For starters, explore this first. You will be surprised what are available in there! Hope the guy behind Genisis will continue this work. In his recent note, he stated that he will continue though there are notes from other people that he will stop. Thanks.

QUOTE(Ngto @ Sep 28 2015, 10:24 AM) For PC, just click on the Movies/TV you want. When all the available links appear, right click on the link of your choice and select Download. A message will appear on Screen after every 10% downloaded (Default). If you want to change the Default Download location on your Hard Drive, go to the Genesis Tools, Downloads option. Many thanks! Used right click on other add-ons, glad to see this feature in Genisis. Cheerio.

Like to know how do you control the use of your TV box to prevent kids from watching the "wrong" movies/videos?
There is a parental control but it says it is only effective for some add-ons, not all.
Ideally, all the kids' shows are placed in one big menu and they cannot exit from that menu. Possible?
Thanks.
P/S Installed another parental control from Kodi. This one is better, one can choose which add-on to protect.

One add-on from China has this display of boxes with crosses in the middle. I think they are chinese characters. How can I get Kodi to display chinese characters? Thanks. Noted lately that when I selected a HD movie, Genesis showed the movie in 480 mode. Can get 720 mode before. Is it that Genesis will set the resolution depending on the broadband one is using? I am using 2 Mb only.
Thanks.

QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Oct 5 2015, 04:37 PM) I believe its the stream not issue with broadband. Heck i have even see HD for "In Theatre" but come out quality is CAM Ha ha, HD for CAM movie! Can they make $ by putting movies there? Or are the TV box manufacturers behind this? To create a demand for movies and then their boxes? Anyone can share a lay-man story on this Kodi thing, who do some people put all these movies for others to watch? Cheerio.

Sometimes I have the bottom menu (play , stop etc buttons, time scroll line) on the screen for a long time. Like to know how I can make it disappear. I know that it disappears by itself if the screen is inactive. Sometimes that happens and sometimes it stays. Annoying at times when watching a movie.
Thanks.
