I have used many Android and other media players for XBMC and even HTPCs(Intel). Right now i'm using FireTV and i can say it's one of the best media player if not the best. But i must say this that if you are buying FireTV purely for XBMC/Kodi then it's not the best choice to go for cuz it doesn't support HD Audio and have few other problems (similar to all Android players)
Reason i'm still using it cuz i use it for Netflix and Amazon Prime along with XBMC and if u using all these 3 then it's "THE BEST" device otherwise i would suggest buy a chrome box or intel based HTPC if only use is XBMC.
For my own personal XBMC use i'm using my media server which has intel core i3 processor and gives far better Video & Audio Quality.

you mean fireTV can only deliver stereo sound?

Thanks bro, i did monitor power usage in both cases, also frankly for me quality is more important than consumption, mind you my NAS is running 24*7*365 smile.gif i have never shutdown my NAS and thanks to ubuntu it never slowdown or require restart after few days. cuz i'm running XBMC also for one of my viewing on the NAS so i have made some tweaks and my XBMC on ubuntu also support HD audio.

Since ubuntu update every six month, would it be a hassle? I mean for other non tech savvy family member to just watch movie in your absence?

Exactly what do you mean by pvr client gone? TV menu not showing or pvr client uninstalled? Either case, you can always reinstall and configure it's settings properly using valid XML files or URL links.

TV menu no longer appearing even with PVR installed. I tried to reinstall it , PVR client completely gone from add on

i hv seen this half a dozen times, mentioned here before. biggrin.gif

got it, lose it, got it again. lose it again... dun really know why anymore.

i had bbts/tv working on pvr with kodi 14.0 for many weeks.

finally, updated to kodi 14.1, bbts/tv gone now.

so frustrating that i think i will not bother anymore.

good news is i hav other apps with more stable live tv.

easier to do it by zipfile->addon.
works same as in pvr simple client.
abemin's livestreampro is working albeit not all channels.

for bbts, u can get the addon given by ctvtec, junk that one in pvr simple client. biggrin.gif

I streamed Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO on Roku 3 and never look back  brows.gif

More and more traditional TV companies are opting to launch streaming services.  smile.gif

XBMC is illegal but free

Netflix and Hulu already illegal (read their TOS they dont stream in malaysia) paying for DNS doesnt mean it's legal

Your service is double illegal and not free

Noob question. how do i set this up and add the .m3u playlist?
*
cut and paste the whole thing on notepad and save the file as whatever.m3u

then ask your pvrclient to read it (depend on how you watch kodi - pc/android box/ apple tv etc

the way i watch movies and series is using xmbctorrent, it need space to buffer or option to save the file to ensure smooth and fast view. And 1080p DD/DTS 5.1 are quite big. I doubt these sticks able to handle.
