about fav... i just noticed if u r on xunity, u can get a new pulldown menu to save anything as fav. if normal xbmc, nothing like that but... somewhere, i read u can do so but pressing c key. but i hv no keyboard, just remote n mouse, can't get, i suppose.
hv tried increasing cache by doing the advancedsettings.xml thingy, it worked. later i found out that wasn't necessary if the firmware decoding is correct. but which device has right decoding or hardware acceleration, i hv little idea.
anyway, if u r able to stream hd nicely with 5mbps, that's gud news, many will want to know more... what machine, what xbmc version, wat else u can get hd smoothly, etc. tq for sharing on behalf of everyone!

Running XBMC Frodo 12.3 on 2 laptops.
1st one - Dell Inspiron N4110
2.3GHz Core i5
4GB RAM
64 bit Windows 7
Radeon HD 6630M
2nd one - Asus laptop
Intel Celeron CPU 847 1.1ghz
2gb RAM
Windows 8
Intel HD graphics
Subscribed to Unifi 5mbps in January, so far the number of times I have experienced lag is negligible. I even tried streaming 1080p movie while downloading a file capped at 200 KB/s.

Ironically, the most lag I have experienced is when trying to watch The Simpsons in SD, lol. But switched to different server (MBox) and no problems now. I guess it really depends on the server and maybe how much TM likes you, haha. I think you should just increase the cache size. If you have no choice but to use a slow server, you can rely on that cache.
Sorry took so long to reply, was busy messing around with Tor.
No idea bout Xunity, not using it.
