Feel the same here

Little Book Of Valuation - a bit hard/dry to digest
Intelligent Investor - tried to read it at least 3 times, stopped after a few pages.
One Up on Wall Street - interesting but find some of his points are contradicting. Will raise these for clarification when I have finished reading it.

Cheerio.

Intelligent Investor? The newer version is easier to read.

The middle few chapters is a MUST if you want to follow the value investing path. thumbup.gif

Please don't call me that....
Plus I am NOT an investor...

Every now and then...
you will see me trading one or two cartoonic stocks. laugh.gif laugh.gif

And strangely.. I hardly trade any stocks based on 'value asset play'..... sweat.gif

For me, PROFIT GROWTH is the the biggest ASSet in value.... sweat.gif

Ask yourself this...
you can have a company...
very valuable in assets.......
but the managers....
eat full sell pau....
every year...
meet same sales target .... cukup....
cos they focused on being well managed and very conservative and not risk adverse to new business challenges.....
so year in year out...
they churn out lebih kurang same profits....

market? see them as boring...
profits every year same only....
so they no buy...
stock slowly drift lower....
and suddenly the company becomes a 'VALUE' stock.

Is that value to me?
Is that what I can a valuable company?
My answer is no.
Company is sitting on their backside and not making any effort to improve.

Yes I did say want to buy, but wait for E3 and rubicone confirmation yet.. until now still no confirmation. wink.gif

So no buy. laugh.gif

Extract from today analyst report...

QUOTE
Rubicone has been idle since 1 Oct 2013 following project completion a day earlier. Management is still scouting for a contract for the MOPU, but shared with us that the asset's downtime was likely to be extended to Jun 2014, three months later than its earlier guidance. We cut our FY14 EPS by 23% to reflect the additional quarter of unemployment. Meanwhile, we expect E3 to start working in 2Q14. Like Rubicone, the E3 has been idle since 1 Oct 2013 following project completion.

Noted and thanks.

I have compiled a list of value companies for my investment later (waiting for the coming BIG dip! Ha). In the study, noted that the performance of good value stocks is 1/3 or less of some high growth <removed> induced companies! Guess I should just stay with better than average return than aiming for 10 or 20 baggers. Too many political chains in some of the 10 bagger companies. Outside my comfort zone, too volatile etc.

Cheerio.

Boon, could you help to take a look at 5109?

it is going downhill at a very alarming rate. there is PP that will take place. co profits isn't looking too great. aussie dollar down. interest rate just waiting around the corner to be raised. (gark has mentioned before this is not a reit that he would invest in, preferring others).

wanted to sell but they just announced internal dealings yesterday which usually pushes up the price as far as i know. my holding is since june last year.

even though it is a reit... i feel that one shouldn't be blindly holding it just because its supposedly a long term investment. loyal reit followers keep talking about DY, but when capital is eroding like water in sand, DY doesn't seem to matter anymore. if this was a non-reit, i would have no hesitance in cutting it.
