whats the pricing for xbox now? and any recommended shop i can go to?

Actually xbox getting cheaper after 1 year only...still remember the first time its was here like RM1800 - 2000...a year later..aiseh RM800...today RM650...

If you want to talk about official price drop of Xbox 1, it launches on 15th November 2001 for USD 299.

Then on May 15th 2002 (about 6 months after launch) the price drops to USD 199.

Then on May 14th 2003, the price drops again to USD 179. And finally on March 29th 2004 till now, the price is USD 149.

In the case of Xbox vs. PS2, both console launches with the same price tag, USD 299, so price cut is necessary to compete with the rival console. Why should Microsoft drop their price now when their console is USD 200 cheaper than the rival PS3?

Maybe price drop is possible in 2007 when they started to manufacture Xbox 360 using new 65nm CPU which supposed to lower Xbox 360's manufacturing cost.

If you want RM 1000-ish Xbox 360 now you can get it. You can buy either Xbox 360 Asia Core or Xbox 360 Japanese, although I myself prefer Asian Premium set.

drop price ? just wait for christmas.. sure got special price or free gift heheh.

true..true...but the different is not USD200 but USD100 (low-end PS3).

If you want to compare low-end PS3, compare it with Xbox 360 core ler. Xbox 360 core also can play game what.

So the price difference is supposed to be:

Between Xbox 360 Premium and PS3 premium:
USD 599 - USD 399 = USD 200


Between Xbox 360 Core and PS3 Core:
USD 499 - USD 339 (since need to buy USD 40 Memory Unit to save game) = USD 160

I think we're going OOT here.

hehehe no bukan nak complaint or OOT but actually low-end ps3 same batch with xbox360 premium...

and the reason i said all this things coz..its one of the reason why micro$oft have to cut down their price...

to be more precise...the different between low-end PS3 and high-end PS3 is HDMI, WIFI and SD/Memory Stick..so basically ppl will buy PS3 (low-end) due to its only USD100 different and plus its have Blu-ray but 360 dont have HD-DVD (have to add-on in the future) kena sumbat another USD50 i think..and have to remember that add-on HD-DVD 360 currently is only for movies...

and becoz of that..i think micro$oft will or have to cut down their price..especially in japan their sale kinda slow..

USD299 is only RM1140, how can it be RM1800-2000? thats shop putting high price to make extra buck from naive customer. so in reality it's RM1140 become RM800 after one year. not really much difference.


low end ps3 still more expensive by USD100 from xb360 premium. i still don't see any benefits MS would have if they lower the price. bundling with games or accessory will be the best bet.

The benefits that M$ will get is..they can sell more units..coz currently PS2 still selling more than 360 (in US)...

Bundle with games and accessory..is a great idea but i think they already done that with xbox...i still remember...they did bundle with 2 games/2 controllers..and then HALO Special Edition for US market..or Kasumi's Special Edition for japan market and so on...but somehow it wont works..and now xbox is zero (japan)...

Well, eventhough PS3 can play Blu-Ray movies, remember what the reason you want to get a console in the first place. It's to play games. Do you plan to buy Xbox 360 / PS3 so you can watch Hi-Def movies on HD-DVD / Blu-Ray? USD 599 is expensive for a gaming console, especially if you plan to use it only for gaming.

The reason why PS2 outsells Xbox 360 in US is because .... PS2 only cost USD 129 now. Microsoft can't sell Xbox 360 at USD 129, they already lose a lot by selling Xbox 360 at USD 399. Later on this year you'll see that Xbox 360 outsells PS3 because of cheaper price.

The original Xbox is no longer in production (IINM since August 2005), so it's not surprising that there's no sale for a product that are no longer produced.

Microsoft is selling Xbox 360 Premium Package in Japan for ¥37,900, after conversion, that's about USD 330. That's cheaper than buying Xbox 360 core + 1 memory unit (USD 339).

Xbox 360 Premium's component is estimated to cost around USD 525 each (this doesn't include manufacturing cost), so Microsoft loses money with each Xbox 360 sold. They regain money by selling games, and IINM, they have to sell 5 games to each Xbox 360 owner to regain the money they lose on the console. This means they only get profit when the gamer purchase 6 or more games.

Japan already got the cheapest Xbox 360 compared to other country, and they lose a lot, so why should Microsoft cut the price even further?

Asian game is cheaper than US games. Asian game cost asound RM 150 - RM 160 each while US games cost around RM 220 - RM 250 each. You can find Asian games easily at Sungei Wang / Plaza Imbi, but I think it's hard to find US games because shop don't want to bring in because nobody want to buy because of high price.

If you want US game because you worry that Asian game will be in Japanese / Chinese, then don't. Nearly all Asian games that has been released is in English.

Thing is...this christmas xb360 get lots of hit title while ps3 launch...no FF, no mgs etc.
This christmas, xb360 get Gears of war, Forza 2, viva pinnata & alot more. (blue dragon in Japan if i am not wrong)

Why drop the price? Consumer will not necessary pay 100usd more to purchase a 'machine' that has HDMI, WIF & SD/Memory stick when most of them don't need it or don't even know what it does.

Besides..there is this Wii60 thingie...2 machine instead of one, better than HDMI or wifi...

Oh...is my statement above consider a buyer's guide or..erm, persuasion?

HDMI isnt really important for PS3,HDCP will only be important in 2010,definitely 2012...so u could still buy the low end models.

XBOX 360 HD-DVD add on is a must though,even though it doesnt have an HDMI port,just 3 usb ports below it...microsoft says they dont need it because(see above).

Expect a $199.90 price
