Hi Sifu, I tried to call Maybank CS at the back of card to sign up for Hilton Hhonor Gold Complimentary program. I am told the visa infinite is not eligible for such privileges. Strange i have seen member from previous post mention they are able to register successfully. Anyone manage to confirm on this?
*
I got it done via email concierge@visainfinite-asia.com

Took 1 week+ for them to upgrade my HHonors, just for fun anyway

I'm visiting Spain/Portugal in Nov/Dec, Seattle & Vancouver in June and Hong Kong + Vietnam this time next year hopefully.

Route: KUL-oLHR-oSIN-xHKG-oSFO-xHKG-oSIN-oHKG-HAN//SGN-KUL flying BA,CX,KA,MH business class.

Paying full fare for LHR-LIS//BCN-LHR and SFO-SEA-SFO segments.
*
wow that's an impressive plan, i never though of stopover can be extend that long. 1 award ticket for 3 trips which spread 1 year long thumbup.gif

For LIS-BCN, u will take train? Both cities are quite far away and I still thinking how to plan for mine

You're allowed 5 stopovers, 2 transits and 2 open-jaws  = quite generous really.  smile.gif
*
Now cracking head haha

So here my plan.. PEN-oHKG-TPE//KHH-oHKG-oKUL-xDOH-MAD//LIS-oBCN-xDOH-oKUL-PEN

On KA, CX, QR, IB, MH biz

1st HKG, if I clear immigration and check in back consider stop over? haha

Saving like 100k miles compare to book 2 trip separately. But then... short of 40k AM now ...

Thanks bro. The one I tried to book is Savoy Grill, one of the restaurant owned by Gordon Ramsey. Thinking of trying out his signature dish Beef Wellington. Just for trying purpose though as I never been his restaurant. London has tons of nice place to eat and if you like Chinese food, I recommend you to try out the roast duck in Four Seasons. It is quite good.

Agreed on the roast duck! Another nice restaurant I visited is Burger & Lobster on Dean St, near Chinatown, for ~GBP20 u get a whole lobster, delicious and generous portion.

Hi bro,

From Hilton website it stated that:

To achieve or retain HHonors Gold status, you need to earn either:
(1) 20 stays in a calendar year, or
(2) 40 nights in a calendar year, or
(3) 75,000 HHonors Base Points in a calendar year

That means that if I enrol into 'Invitation to complimentary Hilton HHonors Gold status for Visa Infinite cardholders', and in order for me to keep my gold status for next calendar year(starting 1/Jan/2016), I must either earn one of the three things stated above before 31/Dec/2015?
*
I have no idea with this...

no separate thread for AsiaMiles for I'm sharing my experience here, since all AM points are from M2Premier.

Took me 1hr 30mins to complete the whole booking process, mainly due to they can't book me MH from KUL-PEN leg and I had to change the flight route on the spot.

Original Plan:
PEN-oHKG-PVG//PEK-oKUL-oLHR-oLIS-MAD//BCN-xDOH-xKUL-PEN
on KA/CX/MH/MH/BA/IB/QR/QR/MH
4 stop over, 2 transit, 2 open jaws
Having to pay KUL-PEN return once to complete, home city from PEN

All flights was shown available except the last leg from KUL-PEN, CS helped me to scan through all dates and unable to book for it (only option is KUL-HKG-PEN, which over the 20k miles gap), forced me to adjust my plan to the following:

KUL-oHKG-PVG//PEK-oKUL-oLHR-oLIS-MAD//BCN-xDOH-KUL
China trip: Dec 2015
Spain: Feb 2016
4 stopover, 2 open jaws, 1 transit

* Notice that I can come back KL in between the journey, never though I can do so.
But I had to purchase PEN-KUL return twice mad.gif

Flight route: http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=kul-hkg-pvg%0...ul&MS=wls&DU=mi
Total miles: 19670
AsiaMiles required for 2 pax flying all biz class: 280,000
Total tax & surcharges for 2 pax: HKD12,238.00

Assuming MYR/HKD at 1.78, tax & fuel surchages is approx. at MYR6,875, compare to sum up taxes & YQ I obtained from individual FFP, AM(KA, CX, QR), MH, BA(BA, IB) only at MYR4,671. Different of ~MYR2,204

Yet to receive fee detail which CS said will send me separately, but I believe it's high for MH & QR leg.

May I know how long are the stopovers? Is there any time limit? This type of trip planning is very complicated. Is there a good site I can learn more?
*
as I googled, stopover for international flights should be more than 24 hours and 4 hours for local. All the stop is over a day so no problem for me.

The very comprehensive guide is in this forum thanks for bro tishaban. Check here.

In short you check the flight miles from www.gcmap.com. Seat availability from AM MH BA n sort of.

Long period of call and errors made me blur, I should have booked the PEK-KUL on MH leg as PEK-HKG-KUL CX, believe that would save me a lot on YQ and avoid the miserable MH370 route, tho longer fly time.

Well done on the booking.  rclxms.gif

Good to note your ability to return to city of origin and continue on from there.
*
1hr 30mins on the call is suffering, and my boss were wondering whom I talking to sweat.gif

Mix of airlines is troublesome as they need to login different system to check the availability, especially on MH, although Enrich Online shows available but they are not released to OneWorld.

During the period when CS confirm n double confirm n triple confirm my flight route, the BCN-DOH-KUL leg become unavailable and I have to postpone 1 more day to return.

Good experience gain anyway

May I know between PVG//PEK, it is a open jaw, how many days in between? Then the stopover at KUL and LHR and LIS , how long are they? Is this whole trip supposed to be done at one go? Sorry for noob question. rclxub.gif
*
PVG//PEK is 1 week apart.
I am visiting China on Xmas week, KUL-LHR on early Feb, 3 days in LHR, 2 days in LIS, 14 days in Spain.

QUOTE(tishaban @ Sep 14 2015, 07:45 PM)
I find that KUL-LHR on MH tend to have higher YQ/surcharges on award tickets compared to KUL-HKG-LHR on CX, have been trying to get some tickets to scandinavia via London in the next few months.

How long is it between your China and Spain trips?

The trip looks awesome herc, have fun!
*
The problem is HKG-LHR/FRA/CDG/FCO on CX is very difficult to find available seat is flying less than 6 months, I screen thru nearest city and only found AMS (and surprisingly cheap), unfortunately I was restricted by several condition, including the 5o2x2// and over 20,000 miles flight route.

If u visiting Scandinavia, AMS really a good choice, but hopping between countries need to purchase separately I think coz OW route is limited.

Approximate 1 month between China and Spain

I bought the KVS Tool in preparation of my multi-carrier award redemption and found it very useful to quickly search for alternate dates when on the line with AsiaMiles' call centre.

I could not redeem KUL-LHR on MH as they said it's a codeshare flight with AA. I ended up redeeming BA for KUL-LHR-SIN with the return flight on the A380. Just missed out on the new 787 for KUL-LHR which will be launched first week of December. You got the new plane for your KUL-LHR I presume?
*
Unfortunately nope. MALAYSIA AIRLINES - MH 004 EQUIPMENT: AIRBUS INDUSTRIE A380

Maybe they only change that with MH002 which departs near midnight?

Oh, you're flying MH? I was talking about BA and their change of aircraft for the KUL-LHR flight, specifically BA034.
*
Yup, KUL-LHR on MH, BA only for LHR-LIS

Can the KVR Tool estimate the YQ for AsiaMiles? Im looking at QF now, but can't seem to find available seat for KUL-MEL, even if found, would afraid it would give me high taxes.

With 5 stopovers and 2 transits, does it mean we could go up to 7 places?
kl-hk-lax on cathay means 1 transit(hk) and 1 stopover(lax) right? is there any limit of time how long to transit at hk?
even if i don't get out at hk, is it considered a transit based on 5o2x2//?
is there a similar programme for mas enrich?
*
Do that note that one world multi-carrier award need at least 2 OW airlines + cathay as third. 5o2x2// is max allowed, anything lesser is alright.

Depends on how u plan, but I have a new plan which travel 4 places in 4 dfferent date, over 40k fly miles.

If only KUL-HKG-LAX via cathay, its under AsiaMiles redemption which can be done directly online, at different table of reward, but this redemption does not allow u to stopover at HKG, only transit.

kul-hkg-lax is just part of the equation. all things considered, i'm still confused about the meaning of 5 stopovers and 2 transits because i plan to visit 7 locations if it's allowed. my preliminary plan is to fly
kul-hkg-lax
lax-lima//
santiago-auckland-sydney//
melbourne-kl
is hkg and auckland consider as transit and am I allowed to leave the airports for both cities for few days?
*
For my understanding, stopover is 2 separate booking, with at least 24hrs apart between both flights, transit is 1 booking where u not allowed to clear the immigration, ie KUL-HKG-LAX via CX, or SIN-KUL-LHR via MH, thats wat shown in my last redemption.

For your case, if u wish to visit both city, your flight route should look like this.

KUL-oHKG-oLAX-LIM//SCL-oAKL-SYD//MEL-KL, 3o 2//

U can eventually add more place to visit haha

Thank you for the detailed explanations. I'm sure others will find this helpful.

Is it possible to fly KUL-oHKG-oLAX-LIM on different carriers? AFAIK, cathay flight terminates at LAX.

Is there any restriction on the number of stopovers within a continent?
*
like tishaban mentioned, u're allowed to book any flight under OneWorld alliance airways. U can try HKG-LAX via AA or HKG-NRT-LAX via JL.

The restriction will be 5o2x2// as usual.

QUOTE(Brandon323 @ Sep 17 2015, 07:44 PM)
May I know for the above example, are you supposed to book the flights individually as in KUL-HKG then HKG-LAX then LAX-LIM. And then SCL-AKL then AKL-SYD. Then finally MEL-KL? That means booking 5 flights possibly through different airlines but all under the Asiamiles umbrella?
*
The entire flight route considered as 1 booking, under AsiaMiles One World Multi-carrier awards. Check here

sifu,

say if i plan to visit europe & US as priority, middle east / Japan / HK as potential stopover. What airline should i aim for with Asia Miles?

The rule is 2 OW airline plus Cathay?

The Transit & open jaw rule (2 each) are the maximum right? doesn't matter if it is kept to 0?

very rough idea on the 5 stopover

KUL - Middle east

Middle east - Europe

Europe - States

States - japan

Japan - KUL
*
Depends on which city in Europe and US u wanna visit then only decide which airway to choose.

Stopover, open jaws or transit rules don't have minimum. Airlines U need min 2 OW or 2OW+CX/KA, no max limit

rough idea can try KUL-DOH-(FRA or CDG)-JFK-(SFO or LAX or direct Japan)-NRT-HKG-KUL

maybe will skip DOH then, dont think there is much unless can visit Dubai but then far fetch already.

Europe not too concern as surely will move around central europe, will use open jaw as don't want to travel back to the same country just to catch a flight. ideally something like land in AMS / CDG then get out from LHR to LAX.

Now wildly thinking about slotting Hawaii in between LAX & NRT tongue.gif
*
For cheaper deal do consider KUL-HKG-AMS(CDG is hot cake) on CX, cost a lot different comparing fly MH or QR.
