5mbps can get u a good no. of things.

M8S+ is not bad, slightly slower (within kodi) when navigating only. Other than that its pretty same for a normal user which doesnt really need most of the sophisticated features of high end box.

For eg. Watching any 1080P with sound 2.0 movies (most common if not lower) results would be the same whether u r using X8-H or M8S+ so u dont really need to spend on high end X8-H which costs about 200% more compared to M8S+

Go for x8-1 plus now, it's a bargain since newer model u1 is there. Make sure u get the bundle one with minix A2 mouse, they are superb working together!

I'm not really sure why, but my OTT M8s wifi download speed is very poor. Upload is normal. Tried some fix to move the internal antenna a bit, did the job for a while, after a while, the download speed is severed again.

Cant use cable, modem at centre of the house.

Using Unifi 30, but only get 3Mbps download speed. Upload is normal at 10Mbps.

Now using my Hypptv (which is working great) while waiting seller to reply my queries.

i hv no experience with myiptv app but from other apps, big and small, 10mbps will surely be better than 5mbps, esp for hd streaming and multi-users.

5mbps give approx 600KBps, good enough if single user for most part but will be inadequate with say, 3 users each drawing 250-300KBps.

i'm going 30mbps from 10mbps, expecting good streaming all the time for multi users.

with a budget of rm500 - 600, go for minix. stable box, high end spec. been using it since aug last year

Wow, I never did a speed test on my minix neo, but I am only using VIP 5, so should never able to re-create your scenario. Just wonder why you need to have such fast speed for an android box? Have you try to connect using cable and see whether the problem is due to wifi?

X8-H or plus variant? Use Ethernet connection or get a more capable router with better wireless performance.. My concern would be with the WiFi 802.11n hardware in the Neo X8-H, the standard 802.11n (Wireless-N) generally offers a speed of just around 20Mbps on the 2.4Ghz frequency band (matches the results you are getting); To improve this, use a dual-band router and connect via the 5Ghz frequency band, but this only works if the clients also support this band. The Neo X8-H is Dual-Band and supports this. Lastly, note that the speed of a Wi-Fi connection also degrades as the client moves farther from the router/access point... An Ethernet connection is always preferred.

i think it's the router's subperformance or the area have "unifi issues".

my 30mbps... i get max quite often on my box, smart tv or pc with 2.4ghz, wifi or ethernet.

can see the stream speeds, up to 3.7MBps.
however, i just checked with my fiend living in another area who has basically the same setup... he's getting much less than me.

i advised him to replace stock router, get a new one - the only thing he can do for now.

he said he can't get thru unifi tel. to get id/pw for a week now.

i will advise any unifi user to change from stock to other router.

for new router, do check compatibility with hypptv.

u only need id/pw if u r changing router - for set up.

i am using asus but single band. very happy with it = happy with unifi too.

tp archer... can't remember if it is hypp compatible.

I would still recommend the Asus RT-AC55UHP over the TP-LINK Archer C7. IMO, one should not skimp on a router as It's meant to handle all connected devices and should do a great job. A worthy investment for a few extra RM.

Understandable, aren't we all?   There's always next month or 3 or even 6 to save up the extra required. Talking of <RM200 here.. Box still gets around 20Mbps, which frankly, is reasonable. I'm still on the VIP10 plan with the stock TM router, yet able to make my network work satisfactorily for the household. So I'm aware of what can be achieved with twice that. Sufficient till a router upgrade. Ultimately, it's your call.. However, buyer's remorse is a thing.

get an asus - this extra rm u pay will be well worth it.
