Call je hotline njoi. Paling mahal pun rm99
Call NJOI to activate the decoder for RM99. They will guide you with it.
Yes the HDMI port will be enabled.
*
HDMI port will only be enabled for certain decoders such as those 'beyond/PVR decoder'.

If you get decoder with model number of SMT-S5040/AST made by Samsung, I am sorry to inform there is no OTA update that enables the HDMI port for this model.

Hmm....today received message from astro about "iNjoi Kini di saluran 100. Pastikan decoder anda pada mod standby selama 1 jam untuk dikemaskini secara percuma. Sila klik http://trk.my/BmWc

-.- No worry, that link actually redirect to astro njoi main homepage. No idea why they think it is a good idea to obscure the link.

Rather than this pointless update, I prefer if astro update my decoder's firmware so that the HDMI port can be used even for SD content. Currently my decoder is Samsung made SMT-S5040/AST where HDMI is still disabled.

meaning even i my decoder has HDMI and i use HDMI cable the output will still be SD?
*
Exactly, the satellite broadcast signal still in SD for NJOI channels.

The benefit of using HDMI (if enabled on decoder) ; only one cable is used to carry audio and video, less cable cluttering around.

Not to mention since HDMI signal sent to the TV set is digital, so there is not dot crawls issue.
Except if the broadcast itself is still analog (such as media prima channel ;TV3, 8TV, NT7), you still notice there is dot crawl even with HDMI connection.
I think Astro actually receives media prima channel (analog composite signal) using the normal antenna, then encode to MPEG2 before broadcasted to the satellite.
With Astro own digital broadcast (such as AEC, astro awani etc), no problem with dot crawls.

(The analog YPbPr also eliminate dot crawls, but it uses too much cable)
(Really? 3 cables for component video signals and 2 cables for left+right audio?)

so how i do check whether the HDMI function is enabled or not?
*
To make your life easy, why dont you take a picture of your decoder?

Much more easy for me to tell if your decoder has it HDMI enabled.

Otherwise, just try to plug in HDMI connection from your decoder to tv set and see if there is any picture coming out?

Astro use domestic antena to receive media prima .. uhf? Vhf?... lol
*
That the reason when you watch those Media Prima channel through astro with HDMI or component video connection, the dot crawls still exists.
Astro own broadcast not affected at all.

When astro received the composite signal, it is not properly separated. They must be using cheap separator for that.

The second possibility is......media prima sends the improperly separated composite signal before they feed the broadcast to astro station through fiber connection? (Highly unlikely)

Edit: Damn autocorrect.

It seems I didn't my Njoi at all. Very crap channel.
How to update the player if the player only have ON OFF button only.
*
Ah, very easy, follow my instruction well.

First, switch off the decoder. (As in unplug the power cord, full disconnect from electricity)

Now, the moment you turn on the electricity, pay attention to the red LED at decoder. Once it blinks once for the first time, quickly press the ON/OFF button THREE TIMES.
The forced update will start. Dont put too much hope on this method since our decoder may not have any update in the first place.

What channel you all watch using astro Njoi?
*
hmm.gif
Now that a tough question.......

My friend watches the prepaid sport channel using njoi.
On the other hand, I only watch TV1 7:00pm documentary (Mon-Fri).
My mom watches 11:30am hokkien drama at 8TV (Mon-Fri).
My dad prefers to watch CCTV4 5.20pm to 7pm (Mon-Fri).

The only complaint we all share are the darned commercials pop out of nowhere in middle of shows.

But at least the video quality is better than FTA rabbit ears antenna reception. No more grainy or snowy reception.

Except the part where 'no signal' when heavy rain occured.

A note of advise for those who are planning to get NJOI, make sure you guys gave them fake or disposable contact numbers.

Ever since I registered for NJOI, for F**K sake, ASTRO, STOP CALLING MY MOBILE 15 TIMES A WEEK FOR YOUR STUPID UPGRADE/PROMO/SUBSCRIPTION OFFERS.

Phew, that sure get it out of my nerve..........

If there is only law or legislation that can prevent these kind of telemarketing from calling in first place.

I am tired of been spammed with their call centre, so I blocked them on my mobile phone. I was having fun seeing the 'call blocked' notification displayed on phone display, until suddenly it stopped. 5 minutes later, my mum called and she said some astro guy was calling the house number (landline) about promo etc. FOR SH*T SAKE, DOES THESE ASTRO TELEMARKETER NEED TO FALL DOWN SO LOW? mad.gif

Now.....instead of my mobile phone, they phone my landline number instead.....3 times a day on average......Time to unplug the phone, only has it for streamyx.....

Should I make a police report over these aggressive marketing? Or consumer tribunal? AH, wait, I forgot the efficiency of these useless enforcers. It will never work.

I just hope after I unplug the landline, ASTRO WONT SPAM MY MAILBOX instead. vmad.gif

Do you even bother to look back posts on this thread? vmad.gif

Straight to the point. If your so called HD decoder got big green 'NJOI' sticker in front of it instead of 'Beyond', dont bother with HDMI. There is no firmware update.

If you wanna know the reason, please read previous posts on this thread.

-.- The NJOI decoder with big green NJOI wording doesn't even have firmware update for enabling the HDMI.
Does astro expect consumers with this particular decoder to view 'HD' channel using YCbCr output?

Ok, understood. I just installed Njoi yesterday. Decoder is DMT 4  b.yond HD model. Recond set. Everything seems great. HDMI is fully functional, CH 300 HD is indeed in HD and really really looking very sharp n beautiful. The shop guy told me it is just a 1-month channel before Astro will pull it, I dont know how true. Is is the same guy who told me HDMI won't work but mine did. The GUI is also the new ones, no self update required. Everything just work out of the box and the new GUI is really slick n fast. Changing channel is nearly instant. So far no complains at all but its only been 1 day. Happy for now.
*
Well, at least HDMI finally works now with the green NJOI decoder rclxms.gif

About the 300 channel, I don't hear any news about the channel being a preview for one month.

I propose you not to bother with WLT, this is standard definition 480/576i broadcast. Not worth paying.
