Reading at android thread , are njoi now apps is gone ?
Tried login to atog but it said only for astro customer only.No luck getting getting njoi working on apps ?

It is previously mentioned that Njoi Now is already no more.

From 30 Sept 2019, Njoi Now will cease and no longer available, including Njoi Now mobile apps and website.

So yea, Astro Go only for Astro customers. Njoi customers enjoy nothing, but only the TV and radio channels using the Njoi box.
If you interested to use the app to watch your shows, ask your family or friends that has Astro Go to share their Astro ID account credentials (email and password) with you.

Similar like Netflix's RM51/month plan, users can now stream up to 4 concurrent devices at the same time from the same Astro Go account.

So Astro go it can be login concurrent device for Atog apps at the same time ? how many at the same time ? Will ask them.
I just worry their kids register before but forgot the username password or email or change phone number too since i remember last time they register before.

Like I said earlier, 4 different devices at the same time.
If you have trouble logging in Astro ID that you've linked to an Astro subscription before, you can contact Astro customer service for them to help you recover the account.

Let you get addicted to a few Njoi prepaid channels for a short period of time to hook u up, so that you'll feel tempting to pay on Njoi prepaid channels.

but is sign in to 4 device at the same time or able to watch at 4 device at the same time ?
it's a different where watching at the same time for 4 device and sign in to 4 different device.
I though njoi is different with HD beyond box.
In other words, it's useless even buying a decoder box and it will not work slotting the smart card ?
The only way is to get a seller who wanted to sell his njoi but problem is , if anything wrong with the channel or no signal they'll still request for the seller info ic and etc to active for topup channel with phone number ?

I bit confuse , the real question is , how to replace an njoi decoder at the cheapest way ? njoi box no signal send to astro said spoil.Want to replace = over RM300.Like getting new.

Similar like Netflix's RM51/month plan, you can login unlimited number devices you want (phone, laptop, tablet...), but regardless, out of all the devices you've logged in on that same Astro Go account, only up to any 4 devices can use to stream Astro Go content at the same time.

Example, if at that same particular time, there's a 5th device (let say it's you) wants to stream Astro Go while there are already 4 different devices/users are currently streaming Astro Go shows, then the 5h device (you) won't be able to stream Astro Go until one of the 4 devices stopped streaming Astro Go.

So when that happens, tell any of the 4 currently watching Astro Go users using the same account, to stop watching. No need log out account, just exit app to make way for you. You understand now?

Njoi box is the same thing as Astro's box.
It's just that Astro use the same set top box on Njoi users ad well. Just because you see an Astro box, it could mean the account type had been converted to Njoi, just like westlife where his PVR box is converted to Njoi box. When we say "Njoi box", it means the account type of that same Astro box has been set by Astro as "Njoi account" and not the usual Astro monthly subscription. The biggest difference would be the channel list.

How come some has the NJOI sticker on the set top box? Hmm... Maybe it's a refurbished set? Not so sure... To determine if the account type is either Astro or Njoi, check the channel list. Or if you're able to tune to this 2 channels, iNjoi ch100 and iView ch302, then confirm that account type is Njoi and not Astro.

Cheaper way to get Njoi box?
Ask around to see if anyone willing to sell their Njoi box to you at cheaper price, especially they're those who no longer interested to watch Njoi and left their Njoi box unused. Reactivate the account by sending sms is possible, but when next time there's technical problem, you got to find way to get that seller's particulars (name, address, IC, email, mobile number). The email address and mobile number, you can tell customer service that you wanna update the email address and mobile number (which actually change it to yours) so that they can contact you instead of contacting the seller in the future in case of anything.

The smart card are paired together with that particular Astro/Njoi box, and you cannot interchange the smart card into other Astro/Njoi box no matter what. This is the security feature...

It costs RM405 for retail price. You can sign up from Njoi's website, then an agent shall get back to you soon.

Got cheaper option or not, I'm not sure... You got to ask those sales agent...

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Dec 30 2019, 08:25 PM)
I never subscribe for netflix P plan but thanks for the long details explanation.

I understand , means if 4 user is streaming and the 5th wanted to login and stream , one of the 4 user need to stop streaming but not logout to allow 5th to login and stream.

If I remember last time , atog only allow 2 device and even limit user by binding the device serial number in a month.
example , if I login into atog on pc and phone.Even I logout on both device and uninstall atog.I still can't login into other tablet or laptop or whatever device because atog tied it with pc browser type or device serial number until next cycle with stated 1 month.Which I need to wait until next month to be able to login to other device.
Does it still apply now ? The topic still here https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=4279430

Njoi
If I understand you mean by Byond box and Njoi is the same but all the setting and tweaks are done on Astr0 SC Tech dept.
Converting from Byond to Njoi using the same box.
Changes made is by CS Tech department by converting the byond serial number and smart card number to Njoi channel and request for restart or software updates which even disable PVR recoding.

Cheaper way to get Njoi box?
Looks like cannot interchange the smart card into different byond/njoi decoder.but it's troblesome if buying a decoder from someone else with all the details bind with the seller.Need seller to request for email and phone number change as for 1st contact person.Just worry sometimes if njoi need to readjust the dish or update the box required IC of the seller in future.

Anyway really thanks for replying all the question.I will double think about it whether to get an njoi again or subscribe for astr0 or just borrow someone's account. As for atog , i wouldn't be surprise they will start charging customer who use the apps soon in future or reduce channel , you know astr0 company. sweat.gif , next year will be olympic + euro 2020 so sport channel will be in a high demand.
*

Yes, last last time during "Astro on the Go" era (now rebranded as "Astro Go"), max 2 logged in devices.

But now no more limit in how many devices you can login, but stream at the same time, max 4 devices. So you don't need to bother about logout your devices like those days anymore. Much simpler, right?

Not "looks like", since B.yond HD box era (2009 onwards), you can't interchange smart card with different Astro boxes anymore. Only those old old legacy boxes can do that (the one with blue background one), but those will be discontinued its use soon.

If you hardly watch TV, I suggest you to ask around your family or friends to see if they willing to share their Astro Go account with you. After all, unless is their Astro Go usage is so damn heavy until almost all of the time got 4 devices streaming Astro Go at the same time, I think there's nothing much to worry about.

Try force firmware update on your Astro/Njoi box.
https://astrobyondinfo.weebly.com/force-software-update.html

If still doesn't work, then yes its broken. Say your final goodbyes to your Astro box.
Repair? Nope. Astro don't do that.

Buy a new one to replace it, is your only option, if you wish to continue watching it.

I will try and borrow someones account and test.Just wondering at hotel room you use their wifi ? have you ever try to mirror screen to the tv or any smart tv ? will it work ?

Only smyx available in the area.No luck.About picture quality , is there away to set to HD ? or can atog run on PC browser ? I just tested the plugin on for atog not working on PC.

Good to know no more previous 1 months limited cycle login 2 device.
Just wondering , does atog banned account if login using a PC or some android box ?
*

It doesn't matter Streamyx or what. As long you have stable and around 5Mbps internet speed, you're likely to be able to stream in HD quality.
You can't set the picture quality automatically. Astro Go still uses adaptive streaming just like the old days.

As far as I know, nope. They don't "ban" devices like that. And what you mean if login using a PC?
Computer (browser) also can use Astro Go... What you mean they would ban that?
But if your device is rooted, the Astro Go app won't even allow you to launch the app and login, as an error message says that the device has been rooted will appear.

I will try on an account first later will report back on stremyx speed.I remember on PC there is a way to choose 480, 720 or 1080p not sure on atog.

I remember saw some post on netfix banning account sharing.Worry if account is banned will affect friends.
I also forgot to ask , last time Atog will automatically logout after 3-4 hours stream.Does it still auto logout user if streaming over 4hours ?
anyway will let you guys know after I ask for the login id.

Lol. Seems like you have lots of bad experiences in the past on Astro Go.
Today's Astro Go changed a lot already. It's more "liberal" than those days nod.gif

You go try it out first, forget the old "Astro on the Go", and get to know the new "Astro Go". biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

QUOTE(stranger88 @ Jan 20 2020, 02:42 PM)
is njoi including HD service? thinking to save more cost as only my mum watching the Hua Hee Dai channel, and sometimes kids channel for my niece.

Can I convert my current astro subscribption to njoi?
----update-----

chat online with astro support, cost RM50 to convert & do not have HD service.
*

Since you're already on Astro, and you also want to have HD, then the cheapest option you can go for is this (all prices excludes SST):
Starter Pack with New Emperor = RM61.32/month
Then, add 1 mini pack (which is Kids pack) costs RM12

Note:
- Starter pack is actually Family Pack but it bundled with HD service, so no need to subscribe and pay HD service separately, and also includes vernacular pack (for your case, go for Chinese one, which is New Emperor pack).
All these bundled into one monthly price, which is RM61.32 (RM65 incl SST).
- Kids Pack includes Nickelodeon (612/632), Disney Junior (613/633), Disney Channel (615/635) and Cartoon Network (616/636).
Meanwhile, these 3 channels: Astro Ceria (611/631), Astro Xiao Tai Yang (325/304) and Disney XD (637) are included in Family pack, so you can still watch these 3 kids channels even if you don't feel like adding RM12 for the Kids pack.
- Just in case you don't know, New Emperor pack includes Astro Hua Hee Dai, and also these channels:
user posted image

Total: RM61.32 + RM12 = RM77.70 incl SST

Once you're on this Starter pack, you'll have 6 months contract. If you cancel Starter pack before contract period ends, penalty of RM100 will be charged.

---------------

Q: Sill want to go for Njoi, but want to watch Astro Hua Hee Dai and some Kids channels?
A: You can consider go for Njoi's prepaid channels:

user posted image user posted image
For Kids channel, if you don't prefer all 6 of these kids channels, you can opt for RM20 per kids channel per month of your choice, similar like Astro Hua Hee Dai as above.

If you count here and there, subscribe to that Starter pack is more worth it la... But the choice is up to you.
I'm not from Astro. So if you want to subscribe, contact Astro directly.

The price you see online, it's actually an online exclusive promo. You can sign it up here:
https://promotions.astro.com.my/details/online-starter-pack

The online promo is, you can get additional RM7 rebate for 24 months. After 24 months, no more rebate, it will go from RM58 to RM65 per month incl SST.
So if add either Kids pack or New Emperor, it costs extra RM12.72 incl SST (RM12 before SST).

In conclusion, if you sign up online:
user posted image
Got all sort of confusing rebates la, discount la, then that's the price you'd pay lo..

*The One Time Installation Fee is applicable for new Astro installations only.

The catch is, if you get this online promo, the package contract period will be 24 months instead of 6 months contract like what I mentioned earlier, the non-discounted RM65 Starter Pack.
If you don't mind about the contract period, then it should be fine for you to go for the online promo.

Sub account not sure. U need to check with Astro.

If main account, confirm the existing box can be converted to njoi. Meaning no need to reinstall new satellite disc and setup box.

Conversion fee is rm50 nett.

Conversion can be done by just giving them a call.

It will take 5 working days or more for the conversion to be done.

Do note that njoi is a limited Astro service so it does not have all channels that normal Astro package offers.

If u are like me that u do not want to pay so much monthly for paid TV and the channel u want to watch can be found inside njoi prepaid channel list then it is really worth it.

I cut down my expenses Rm113++ to now rm15 per month only. And I did not lose out much. So the saving is great for me.
*

Lol that's because you / your family just need to watch TVB Xing He channel, so of cos reduce from RM113+ to RM15/month does saves a lot.
Btw you use what reload method to topup? Online? Or buy reload card at convenient stores? Is it easy for you to reload it?

Although it supports functions like recording, watch VOD content, all those are disabled once you're on Njoi subscription, making those functions to become useless.

Lol, if you willing to pay up to RM1600 penalty fees for terminating before 24 months contract ends, sure why not? tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif Ultra Box just introduced to the public just few months ago lol.
Theoretically it is possible one.

Basically they can just disable Internet connectivity of the Ultra Box, making all those features like cloud recording, VOD, Play from Start, all immediately no longer available, and channel list change to Njoi's channel list, then done. biggrin.gif

Suddenly your Ultra Box become not "smart" anymore, eh?

Ask your owner of the rented place to see if he/she allow you to install a satellite dish permanently on a wall.
I do wonder, how could Astro/Njoi satellite dish can "damage" your rented place? hmm.gif Or you can install the dish somewhere hidden from easily being seen from view.
Just in case you don't know how satellite TV works, you can't install the dish indoors/inside your room/house cuz you won't get a signal at all.
Place it wherever you want, even on the floor, as long it has line of sight to the sky (facing west).

You plan to stay that rented place for a very long time? Is Njoi really a need?

If you insist, there is a way...

this is what will be shown. basically ur PVR box is no different as njoi box since no extra features will be available as it is tied to your smart card.

i think this is the reason why astro does not need you to return the box since you cannot use it anywhere else technically. what they hope for is one day you will be returned to astro or convert it to njoi.

Yup, nothing can be accessed. Even previously videos cannot be watched becos no PVR service.

So it is really no different as the njoi box that can be signed up now.
Unlikely. Almost zero possibility.

They won’t do that to cannibalise their Astro normal package business.

Increasing njoi users will not help in their business.
I believe they provide the njoi service just to increase their presence for more users to watch their own channels like AEC. In addition, to provide an option for those who really do not need full service like myself to watch selected channels and for them earn the extra prepaid charges from this group of users.
