Tips to Survive Major Steam Sales

Rule #1:
From now until the LAST DAY of the sale, if a game is on sale as a daily deal or flash deal, you can buy it. If it is only "on sale" through July 23, pass. Do not buy. Save your money (you may need it).

Rule #2:
Check each day for the daily deals, and monitor flash deals. As games come up that you want, you can get them. Just continue to exercise self control for games that are not a daily/flash deal.

Rule #3:
You can purchase the large packs, such as the THQ pack or Square-Enix/Eidos pack at any time if you wish. It is extremely unlikely that those bundles will be discounted any further, even though individual games in those packs may become daily deals. If you want a bundle, go for it. Lots of games, excellent price.

Rule #4:
On the LAST DAY of the sale, Steam traditionally makes its daily deals an encore of the most popular daily deals from the previous days. Go nuts. Buy everything you wanted. New games are almost never on the daily deals during the last day. At this point, it is safe to buy anything else you've been waiting on.

Rule #5:
If you miss a game from a daily deal, STILL DO NOT BUY IT until the last day. As I said, the final day often recaps previous days' daily deals, so there is still a chance the game you missed could come around as a daily deal again. Don't rush it. If it doesn't, you can still buy it at the standard sale price on the last day, and just be sad you missed the daily deal. Just remember that if you missed it on one day, it's not necessarily too late. Save money by keeping a cool head.

Saw the Deux-Ex Human Revolution Director Cut in Steam today's deal, only USD4.99. Going to take the plunge. A very nice game now comes with remaster graphic icon_rolleyes.gif

Have to control myself now, cause wanna get myself a new Honda PCX150 today or tomorrow. Later don't have enough $$ to pay sad.gif

I think Shogun was the most "Hyped" and "best" out of all the Total War Rome [ I heard on the interwebz only ] Still though. Never played any of those game...go google again rclxms.gif tongue.gif

The answer depends on which era you prefer. Do you like swords, spears and arrows? (Rome/Medieval) Or do you prefer muskets, cannons and ships of the line? (Napoleon/Empire) or you prefer a bit of both (Shogun). My personal favorite is probably Empire followed by Rome II and Shogun II (+ Fall of the Samurai). Despite all the complaints about the latest game, I find it to be worth my money (I preordered it).

just got it, it gives 3 copies when you use the spearhead edition,

so 1 steam gift copy in your inventory, 1 standard edition key and the spearhead edition in your account.

Yeah I find it suspicious too.... especially when they are giving Spearhead edition at USD 3.99. When others bought it for USD 39.99 before this . I'm sure they will get a lot of backlash for it. Wonder if it's a sign that the game is dying?

I found a place sell wireless only at 155. I like wireless cause i can chill out on the bed and play but i lazy to change battery and recharge them. Wired just plug and play... Decision Decision mmmm

TES Online client is plainly stupid... The client somehow tries to pull the download speed to max but whenever you are about to do something that requires internet connection.. the download would just stop.. sheeh.. I could have been done with it like in the afternoon due to this shitty situation.. cannot do anything sad.gif

i think got people in garage sales sell it for 150+. u gatta dig deep enuf. actually if u use good battery. no need to change so frequently. mine last for more thn a year. im casual player n using logitech f710.

Not interested in game with monthly subscription. There are already a lot of subscription that need to be settle every month, namely electrical bill, unifi, water. Gaming also need subsciption? No way. That is why until now I still haven't pick up FF Reborn.

Bought Double Dragon Neon and Strider this morning. Both are my favorite old time classic.

usually around 1 and a half year later when playerbase gets below 1 million if the game kinda fails.
But i still have high hopes for Zenimax studios, just that they went too greedy with the imperial edition fiasco.

Paying for server is such an archaic system that should be dead by now, considering we arent paying for monthy usage for Steam servers, Appstore and Play Store.

I do not play MMOs because they need you to dedicate a lot of time to it and also the ridiculous amount of money i need to pay monthly.

Expansion can be handle by DLC perfectly well and it won't force you to unless you are wiling to pay. Same for micro-trans. The prime example is Path of Exile which carried this out perfectly well and it is free to start off.

If only the main game is free then subscription based games can be justifiable to certain extend. Not like FF Reborn or Elder Scroll online which they already cost you a lot to purchase and yet the subscription applied.

Actually I won't say "ridiculous", it just that it a bit hard to attract gamer compare to few years back, but if the game is enjoying especially mmo and most of your friends are playing I don't mind paying monthly fee for it and usually play for few months or even more than a year

Age of Conan is my favorite mmo and been playing it for many months until they remove the monthly subscription and come out an "item shop" sweat.gif

The main problem is not about money, $15 is nothing compared to the time you'll waste in the game as MMO are designed to play long term and I am not interested in sticking to a game for a long time.

Not everyone has the time to deal with a MMO these days. A lot of us are working where we only have an hour or so to play some games at night. So what is wrong if I choose to play Brothers instead of ESO. In fact, most games are deliberately padded with shitty content to be unnecessarily lengthy with hopes to keep players playing it for an extended amount of time. I rather have a short and sweet game, like Bastion or prosedurally generated games that focus on gameplay like FTL than playing a over focus tested piece of crap that is intentionally lengthy with a handful of amazing moments among boring crap.

The problem with F2P is, just look at the mess with Dungeon Keeper mobile and you'll see whats wrong with it. There are barely any decent F2P out there that actually respects your time and wallet.

Gamers nowadays are hard to please because all these large corporations are treating gamers like walking wallets for them to extract from. If they actually start making decent games that respects gamers, people wont hate them that much.

People complain a bit, then you got butthurt. Not everyone is a arse licker like you where almost every game out there is good.

Update - Load temp 58 cels whistling.gif But need 2133 MHz RAM to pull out more potential. And can play most games at High-Ultra settings with 4-8xMsaa only. Guess not that powah for fxaa yet sad.gif

Second that, its a very good game and to certain extend better than D3. I am in Act3 near the end now thumbup.gif

Dungeon Siege 2 is also a very good D3 like game with Dungeon Siege 3 following closely behind (although some might not like this due to some changes in its story and mechanic), i personally like it very much.

Titan Quest is another D3 wannabe. Good game in itself, love this as well.

If you are having trouble with the launcher, like I am. You can download the full game on games.on.net.
It has resume capabilities like the launcher so it's good. Using Internet Download Manager is faster than the game launcher client.

and the graphics .... well i dont expect to have a A+ games, however, this one looks much like Pre-Alpha. if the graphics are like this, its better to just stick to the old R6 or SWAT.

Guy I want to have your opinion on something.

We received a review of Hamster Drop (mobile game). To my astonishment, the person said it's too hard. Orang dewasa

Throughout the whole process we tested the game on 10 year old kids and under. All of them managed fine and found it fun. One kid even beat it one of our challenge stages perfect (budak 6 tahun)

I am the 'normal human' of the team, and I managed 80% of the game without issues.

I kennot brain.

Is this the definition of 'too hard', or it's just skill difference?

Plus said must give free. Out studio is unfortunately not a race of sentient plants.

And certainly not as hard as Flappy Bird.

Have you registered your email and claimed the page?

If yes, go to My Library at the top right corner of the page. Then you scroll down to your Civ 5 pack. Click claim to claim the key for yourself, click the gift box icon to make a gift link

If no, go register and then claim the page first before doing the rest

1 thing gaming teach me is never give up cause u got nothing to lose until u stop trying. Some games got its learning curve, he or she might be new to the genre. If a 6 years old can do it, i dont find a problem. Try to even out the frustration of failure like more checkpoint, reward or show progression for player who keep on trying etc.

1 thing gaming teach me is never give up cause u got nothing to lose until u stop trying. Some games got its learning curve, he or she might be new to the genre. If a 6 years old can do it, i dont find a problem. Try to even out the frustration of failure like more checkpoint, reward or show progression for player who keep on trying etc.

TESO.
So far so good, looks and feel are very much the same like Skyrim even soundtrack is almost the same.
Graphic has improved from Skyrim and the gameplay pretty much the same as before.
So far enjoyed the Beta. Might just buy this on day 1, although there might be server issues.. ermm.

nahh quite dissapointed with the game really. feels like a low budget skyrim lol. But felt the same way about gw2 during beta, and comparing it a few months with the final version was a lot of difference. hopefully they manage to fix it. but so far quite dissapointing.

Looks kinda the same for me. If you use a lot of mods of course la tons of difference.
It does look a bit simplified in some ways, maybe just to make it lag free or stuff like that.
Not the final product. Lets see if there is any difference once the real once is out.

Yes totally. I actually take my time to explore the world unlike other mmo which i grind all the way. From land to sea it is just too beautiful and breathtaking. Totally worth the full price i paid for

well gw2 may be beautiful but it may not cater to all types of players.
those who are too used to "end game" raid grind concept such as world of warcraft etc may not like what gw2 has to offer.

those who enjoy battlefield 3 / battlefield 4 huge open world battles with lots of other players may enjoy the mist war (world vs world) as the end game.
those who enjoy team fortress 2 may find structured player vs player as the end game.
casual people who have little time may treat doing the various daily monthly achievements as well as the bi weekly living stories as the end game.

oh by the way i think i suspended both your guild membership due to inactivity and we need to make new room for newer active members.
let me know if you want back in again.

gw2 is a better game if the various in game activities (PvE, WvW, sPvP, etc) are done together with friends.
if play alone then it can be very lonely at times.
still a good game though.

hmmm 2,260 hours clocked in (including AFK times) over 532 days for me haha.

Dont know about you, but ESO looks even worse than unmodded Skyrim.

They are using the Hero Engine for god sakes where visuals are probably the engine's lowest priority. TOR also used that engine with really blocky models and poor animations. Hero Engine is supposed to be cheap to ultilised and for quick development but I have no idea how the hell they managed to spend almost 200 million on this.

Hopefully, ESO doesnt fail like TORtanic because I still want more single player Elder Scrolls or more Dishonored. Bethesda is able to make some pretty good games, but hopefully this doesnt make them go burst.

The previews so far are mixed, some favors them, others not so much. Still a lot more room for improvement, hopefully the guys at ZOS takes all these negative critics and improve and fix the game if not its GG for them, 5 years down the drain and LOTS money lost. MMOs are very expensive to develop and maintain.

Honestly i bought the game because i love the Elderscrolls lore, and the fact that i can finally go and see other places like Summerset Isle, blackmarch, Elswyr is amazing to the fan of the ES series, so paying 60 USD if i manage to finish the story in a month is worth it for me.

Instead of NMM, since it keeps all your mod files separate from your Skyrim/Data folder, so it's less messy. Haven't used it myself. Thinking about it if I am restarting my game.

I put a little too many realism mods with scripts apparently and it probably overloaded the game's script engine. Having weird behaviors happening randomly. sad.gif Either I suck it up and continue, or I restart my game and remove some mods with scripts

The problem is not too many scripts, but you removed mods after you've started the game causing scripts to fire incompletely.

You can try to remove some of the scripts using SKSE:

yup it is fine.. I just uninstall & restore again no problem

next time I will just copy the whole folder for backup because the backup & restore process is too freaking slow

This game looks stunning and fun to me. Pre-ordered my from GMG using YOGCST-BESTYT-EVERRR for 25% discount.
You need Uplay to play though.

I played the beta, pretty Average. It is not even worth $60 let alone $60 + $15. U better off playing Guildwar 2.

Unless ESO is free to play= it will be good
if it is a Pay to play like now = it is a overpriced JUNK (heck it is not just pay to play(P2P), it is P2P + DLC + collectors lol)

ESO is the best bug free elder scroll game, but it is also the worst elderscroll game. Stick with ur skyrim. Want Multiplayer = go play GuildWar 2

I personally enjoyed my beta after a few hours in. The starting is damn slow and boring.

Its far from perfect, but certain part which they got right, they got it spot on.

try to take time view is video, or at least at the conclusion part of this video(after 16mins). Zenimax is just a ridiculous developer that are still delusional in year 2007 that they can be WoW competitor/killer. This is not 2007 anymore, it is year 2014. Standards have risen a lot since. ESO is like going to be a SWOR. Titanic fail lol, I played the beta, I seen like 9 out of 10 people in chat msg think this game is boring as heck.

May be it is a reason why they keep NDA up tfor the public, so no one can publicly trash the game. Only few SELECTED journalist have NDA down lol

I think this preview/impression does make a good point.



Its not going to be Skyrim with multiplayer which i think people has to stop comparing to that.

Still, despite I like Skyrim, I dont think I'll even consider ESO. $15 a month is expensive while I am not keen of playing a MMO. Also dislike the fact that they went with the Hero engine too, its a shitty MMO engine.

Nahh.. ppl whines in almost every beta i played lol. thats kinda normal. Even GW2 ppl screaming its gonna fail during my 1st few beta. Nothing new. But im sure we'll see this game going F2P soon if they dont fix up the game

Graphics are actually much much better than vanilla skyrim. The textures are better. But combat and movement feels clunky most of the time.

The number 1 reason for the great bashing is due to the 15usd subs model. Im pretty sure if they didnt announce this, everyone would go to ends praising this as a new gamechanger MMO lol. They should of used GW2 model. sigh

Had they just went the GW2 payment method, people wouldn't be expecting a WoW killer content or Skyrim quality with multiplayer. The $15 sub just kill this entire MMO.

Instead of going GW payment, they went with $60+ sub + DLC collector edition with such quality MMO, thats just crossing the line. doh.gif

aye i can agree with the nice graphics.
even though i did not watch any eso videos recently, i watched some in the past and i find the graphics to be nice.
as for animation i dunno though.

yes, for myself, the usd15 monthly sub is the main deal breaker.

i do not mind a usd60 purchase if they are no monthly subscription.
but a usd60 purchase plus usd15 per month that just tells me they are out to milk elder scroll fans.

Agree. The is just no reason for them to SELL the game to us and after that keeps squeezing us indefinitely with subscription. I can understand the monthly subscription model but why both? They should either ask for only subscription free for the game or charge for the game and free to play. Definitely no both. They are just plain greedy.
If we keep fueling the fire, eventually all the game will use this kind of unjustifiable practice.

I dont know. Hero Engine is known for being cheap to use and it has some basic infrastructure featured out of the box, kinda like Unity but for MMO. The problem with Hero is, it a nightmare to work with which means patches or DLCs will take long to come because its a very programmer unfriendly engine. I think a programmer in TOR said that they rather make their own engine than use the shitty Hero Engine. And I really hate the block and plastic like textures in ESO. Its like a gritty version of Frozen or something. doh.gif

GW2 model would be nice, but i doubt it will be enough to recoup their 200 million investment. I am actually worried about Bethesda as this time round, it might not work out well for them, despite they took so many risks with Skyrim, Evils Within, Dishonored and so on.

MMOs are very expensive in this case, 200 million usd. Subs model has its pros and cons, but whether a game is worth paying the sub is another matter.

many mixed reviews on the net, a lot also are liking the game aswell. Best to know if u play it yourself. As for me, it took 10 hours in to lvl 10+ to begin liking the content on daggerfall. The 1st 2 starting island is plain and nothing much.

I actually think all these $60 + $15 sub + a Imperial race DLC collectector edition is just there to quick_cash_grab from hardcore elder scroll fans while this whole thing is still on Hype-train.

After all the MMO is being developed b4 Skyrim since...2007? wasnt it with 250 people involve? thats not gonna be cheap for soo many years. yet it bring only average quality MMO that isnt worth $15 sub. Looks like ESO is going to a second SWTOR. tongue.gif
