i was also damn tempted to buy the jumbo size age at the warehouse sales at RM260.....good deal ka ?
market price is about RM300+, so RM260 is quite cheap, though not cheap enough to tempt most peopleModel Kits Gundam & Mecha modelling thread V33, Gunpla builders assemble!

Hi guys, I'm new to gunpla and bought my very first gundam, MG Strike Freedom Gundam.
Since this is my first time, I would like to try panel lining and top coating. There are some question I would like to ask: I bought a Black Gundam Marker for panel lining, but I'm looking to buy the Brown and Grey as well. 1) Do you guys know any shops around Wangsa Maju (or nearest) that sells them? 2) What is the use of thinner? To clean off the excess ink for lining? I heard that it will damage the parts cause its plastic. (or something like that) 3) I read that they dont import Mr Hobby Top Coat anymore, any other substitute for it? Or should I just get them online? And also should I assemble everything first then only top coat or coat it while assembling? This post has been edited by maileew: Mar 24 2014, 01:36 AM |

Hi Maileew,
1) can't answer 2) Thinner is mostly used to "dilute" paint so that it flows smoothly through an airbrush. I think what you heard about using it for cleaning is a reverse wash technique. More info found: http://majorwilliams.blogspot.com/2011/04/...e-wash-and.html In your case, using some cotton swabs will do the trick. You should also panel line on the plastic or after a gloss coat. If you panel line after a flat coat, the rough surface will easily stain and the ink will be harder to clean. 3) I've found Mr Hobby Top Coat around my local hobby shops, in Sabah. |

QUOTE(maileew @ Mar 24 2014, 02:35 AM) Hi guys, I'm new to gunpla and bought my very first gundam, MG Strike Freedom Gundam. Since you're new here.. I will just let you know that, anything regarding painting gunplas or regarding top coat or thinner, you can always ask here.. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2870058Since this is my first time, I would like to try panel lining and top coating. There are some question I would like to ask: I bought a Black Gundam Marker for panel lining, but I'm looking to buy the Brown and Grey as well. 1) Do you guys know any shops around Wangsa Maju (or nearest) that sells them? 2) What is the use of thinner? (or something like that) 3) I read that they dont import Mr Hobby Top Coat anymore, any other substitute for it? Or should I just get them online? And also should I assemble everything first then only top coat or coat it while assembling? But since I already start typing here.. I can give u a short answer.. 1) Shops around Wangsa Maju.. I don't think so.. why not you just travel down to Berjaya Time Square.. those panel linig colors such as black, grey, brown can be bought at 7th Floor (Gamers Arena), or 2nd Floor (IT Toys) or 2nd Floor (Time Machines) 2) Thinner is mostly use for airbrush or to clean your tools.. If you want to clean of access ink for lining, you can always get a hobby paint remover RM18 a bottle which is sold at Time Machine.. or if you don't require that many, you can just buy the paint removal pen.. which will cost you about RM 12.90 if I'm not mistaken.. AND if you use the hobby paint remover.. damaging your plastic will not happen, but maybe will clean away your base color if you didn't use it properly.. Other than that, if you use those industry thinner or those normal thinner to clean your tools on Gunpla.. prepare to do battle damage on your kits 3) Same as above.. you go to the shop there.. got sell!.. Got Flat type, Semi Gloss and glossy.. It's depending on how deep your pocket is.. and remember, these top coat aint cheap.. it's around RM 50+ a can.. you can have different top coat at differ parts.. maybe body u want it to be semi gloss.. arms n legs are semi gloss.. but weapon you want it to be flat.. or maybe the other way round.. you can either build parts by part.. with added water slide decals.. than top coat or you could also build everything up.. and add water slides decal than only top coat.. I hope these answer ur question.. feel free to ask in the link I showed u.. |
