I believe Astro GO is HD but very low bitrate.

Astro GO on demand wise is a better bitrate HD.

Astro Go HK movies is about 720 as I compared it with that I play using RSS player.

Perhaps not all movies same resolution, older ones tend to be poorer in quality.

Also AstroGo auto negotiates. No matter what we select for resolution, if network poor performance, quality drops without needing to do anything.

Ah well... call it whatever...

The channels i want to watch on astrogo, i find much better ones with other apps.

Older movie no choice but even is HD 720p still very bad in quality. Not bandwidth issue because I can smoothly stream Netflix in 4K.

Bandwidth issue can be due to server side as well. I notice AOTG stream quality fluctuates a lot when watching big games (premier league)

VOD used to be pretty easy... several great apps, easy to get... all in HD.

now, some got shut down, some went legit, some still let u watch a bit for free only.

the ones i know of.. newer shows are blocked... they tease u with 1-2 episodes.

older shows, ok.

still, u can try... if u haven't.. cibn, moretv, qianxun - try to find them at shafa.com

also can try this icdrama rss... works fine but rather limited stuff.

as previously suggested, try cibn and moretv.

it is not just geoblocked these days; most are now going legit, i.e. paid membership.

vpn may improve speed but does not get u access to "vip" ones.

Below apps is running at Mi Box with DiGi Infinite 150 line.

The Shafa apps is awesome and it is very well done, now it became one of my main Android TV launcher app and replace the side launcher as no longer required.
It run perfectly smooth everywhere.

Below is 4 of my recommended apps for Chinese show, TV series and movies, not all can play as those VIP need money and for China only but the rest is more than enough for me already.

• CIBN Very Simple TV - running smoothly in 1080p.
  
• MoreTV - Good for some show where you can't get elsewhere, apps take sometimes to load the show title but no issue during playback in 1080p.
  
• 云视听极光 - Very smooth in 1080p.
  
• HDP Live Stream - the best Live Stream China channel, stream so so only, not extremely smooth due to buffer issue but it is the best already compare with others.
  

For English title, I only recommended Terrarium TV which can stream unbelievable smooth up to 1080p resolution with condition you just need to get the correct source link as only 2 source link is capable run perfectly smooth, the rest source link is garbage and keep buffering.

As for Live Stream, both Live NetTV and RedBoxTV quality is very bad and not smooth even on SD quality, some in HD quality channel wise is nearly not watchable at all.

Kodi, SportsDevil add on (need to install Plexus and Acestream), choose LiveFootball.ws and will appear current footnall matches. chooise the match you want and choose the best quality streaming  (the one with 9000 kbps), after that chooise Acestream - Plexus Add On (make sure you already install Acestream). HD quality (like Astro HD quality). i am using Unifi 50Mbps, smooth streaming and using Nvidia Shield 2017. you must have a good box so that picture quality good. previously using Ubox, normal box, quality also HD but picture sometimes sluggish (good box can decode picture better). Only drawback the commentary not in English for good quality one, if not mistaken should be in Rusiian.
anyone got others sports streaming app to recommend? Livenettv app also not bad, but the HQ quality if you compare  with SportsDevil, still lose out a lot.....
