Suspension noise I think it is something that is inherent in the vehicle? The last time I complained they mentioned the bolts and nuts are tightened, and in the end it's the same. Are you referrring to the sound from the suspension when going over bad roads or concrete ramps with grooves? On good roads there isn't any sound from the suspension of course. It's only when the vehicle goes over some of the rough surfaces the sound from the suspension comes up louder in comparison to vehicles with quieter suspensions.

Grinding noise I don't hear it too much already.

As for steering noise, is it a squeaking sound when you turn the steering? Or even when you drive up concrete ramps of shopping malls, there is a slight rattling sound from the steering? Is this the sound you are referring to when you mentioned steering noise? Regrettably I have this too even though they have changed the clock spring, a part which was suspected to be the fault of the steering noise. I wonder if they have even changed the clock spring?

I just figured out the sound from the steering may just be the shiny metal piece on both sides of the steering wheel that is moving/grinding against the hard plastic of the steering or something. Try pushing or pressing the shiny metal piece around. Do you hear a squeaking sound? This is the same sound I get when the steering wheel is turned left or right, or when the vehicle goes over some rough or bumpy surfaces. It is still bearable at this point of time for me, though when it gets louder to the point of annoying I'll bring this up to the service centre.

To purchase a focus , the griding & jerking is part of the package for this model. I have used to the annoyed sound .

I have changed my clutch during my 20k KM service , the grinding sound and jerking is very minimal . However, when my focus car  mileage  travel  around 40K Km plus, the grinding and jerking come back again especially first to second gear.

Most of my friend ask me about this car performance and I say this car is truly having gear problems,  That's it, buy it or not it's up  to individual!Like my wife who doesn't  care any sound  in the car, she can accept Ford Focus. But it is certainly not for  me to accept the grinding sound and jerking which explained  numerous time by Ford service team.

Second noise is the rattling sound near the driver seat. I have changed the shaft early this year  but the sound still there . The sound reminded me the time when I was diring my Proton Wira 10 years ago. The car came with many funny sound as if some screw going to drop off from the car. Never know after 10 years, the sound haunt me again.

Have not experienced oil leakage and severe jerking/vibration yet. May I ask who noticed the oil leakage at the transmission area? The service guys noticed it when they serviced your car, or you noticed it?

Nope, it will be helpful if you can take some picture on the specific area where they spotted the leak so we can do a reference check

Good to know. When you mentioned "Recently i feel the gear shift jerking & vibration becoming worse", I presume the car is jerking when accelerating at low speeds. Hopefully the guys can resolve the problem for you soon. Would appreciate if you can update if it happens that they can reduce the jerks and vibration, whatever they are and not just give the usual "it's normal the car is supposed to behave this way due to the dual-clutch transmission" excuse.

Thanks for the update. 3 months waiting period for the clutch pack. Looks like quite a number of cars are going through this clutch pack replacement due to the jerking or oil leakage problem. It is either the clutch pack is defective(which only certain batches are affected), or it is a design flaw in the clutch pack in that all clutch packs in the current Focus are defective. Yikes!

My car is 1 year 4 months old, so there is another 3 year 8 months left in the warranty for something to fail(touch wood).

I wonder if all Focus models are affected by this clutch pack (severe jerking and leakage) issue? May I ask how old is your car? So far I have read on this forum that 3 persons have had the clutch pack on their Focus replaced. Nairud is one if I"m not mistaken.

I have a Ford Focus 2014 of 1.5 years. The car still drives well except the occasional dashboard rattling noise. There is also noticeable dashboard vibration during traffic stops. I'm sending the car for a complete clutch + oil seal change next week due to engine oil leak. This is under warranty. Any users here having gone through the same procedure? I would like to have a feedback. Much appreciated and  thank you.

After more than 1 week driving the car with the new clutch, I can verify that the gear changes of the car at low speed are now smooth. The car doesn't jerk anymore and it is very nice to drive even at bumper to bumper traffic. I did not do any hard acceleration for the time being so I can't really say there is a severe loss in power due to the clutch replacement. Nevertheless, that is not a big issue to me even if there is a sight loss in acceleration power as the smooth drive at low speed is something that I value more, not withstanding the fact that the Ford Focus is inherently a powerful car.

A note on the grinding sound of the car. I still hear the grinding sound at very low speed, especially when the car is going over road bumps. When the car rolls over a road bump, the moment I stepped on the pedal to accelerate the car, the grinding sound comes up. However, minimal to zero jerking. Just smooth, which is good.

May I asked how old is your car which requires a change on the engine mounting? Thanks.

May I ask what is the current mileage of your car? My car's mileage is at 29,000km+ now and the vibration fluctuates from mild to moderate when the car is stationary waiting at the traffic lights. The vibration can be felt on the seats where we sit on. when I place bags or plastic bags on the passenger seat, the vibration will cause the bags to emit noise as they rub against the seat.

I wonder how bad is the vibration when it is "excessive". The last time I complained on the vibration the guys at the service centre did not find any vibration in the car. I am aware that the vibration on my car is most of the time minor to moderate, but still there is vibration.

Thanks for the information. My car is 2 years 2 months old with the mileage at 29,000+ km. The water bottle does not produce any sound when I place it at the middle compartment as the bottle is fixed nicely in the compartment.

Do update this thread if the engine mountings on your car had been replaced. I am curious to know if the vibration will be gone after the mountings are replaced.

Did any of you guys had the clutch of your car changed? Would like to get some feedback from owners who have had the clutch changed.

No doubt the jerking of the car is reduced quite significantly, and the car does not jerk much during low speed acceleration anymore which is a good thing. But there are 2 aspects of the drive which has changed after the clutch replacement :-

1. The sound from the transmission, a dragging sound which is quite prominent when the car is quiet ie. no music playing. During low to mid speed acceleration, you can hear this dragging sound from the transmission before the upshifting of the gear. (before the clutch replacement, this dragging sound is not present)

2. The acceleration of the car from any given speed does not feel as powerful as before. Say cruising at 60 km/h to 80 km/h and you want to accelerate the car, the car doesn't lunge forward as powerful as before. The kick is missing.

Does anyone experience the same thing in the car after the clutch replacement?

Got my 2nd steering rack change queued up at the end of the month.... took so many tries to get it checked and finally they recognized it as a valid claim.
