In v19 thread I came here as a newbie and asked about mechanical keyboards, and now I am still a newbie because I've not get my own yet (though I've tested out green, brown, blue, red, and black switches), having a hard time finding one with blue switches, blue LED, full layout, everywhere no stock for Ducky Shine 3 with the specs I'm looking for.

Can check Robotica (have to call cuz website doesn't show MKBs) or HeavyArms. Both in Subang

DISCLOSURE: friends with robotica owner.

Don't know about Robotica, but checked with HeavyArms and they said they don't have stock for the specs I'm looking for.  sad.gif
A bit skeptical about getting things through Taobao, especially I'm a banana, can't read any chinese.
Everywhere no stock for this.  sad.gif
*
* plz. With google Chrome, even a banana like me can buy from taobao. If you super lazy, then just use buy2taobao.com and slowly buy.

Super easy.

On a sidenote, even robotica dude asked me to buy keycaps from taobao.

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Feb 4 2014, 08:07 PM)
this is why keycap print type is important, especially if you don't want your keycaps to look like that.

for your example, that one is the normal type used for led lighted keyboards. It looks good, but once it's worned out .... yes it can look awful.

I think there are double shot versions that look similar in style but are more durable.

If you see the screenshot behind the keycaps, you will see a dotted pattern. i believe this double shot version will allow led lighting to bypass to only highlight the font, if not mistaken

http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=48932.0
So anyway i doubt the double shots designed for led lighting will wear out as shown in your example. That is what good quality (yes also expensive) keycaps will get you  nod.gif
PS: black keycaps work best. because lighting will show through white keycaps. I've seen this for myself, and i don't like the later style  laugh.gif
if you don't want to spend on double shot, you can get this instead

Corsair K70 Backlit Keycaps

*
Word of warning for vortex doubleshot buyers; they legend is inconsistent one... some leggends look a little bold compared to others, and sometimes will have missing keys. But they are the cheapest (I think) doubleshot keycaps that can be had around here.

I think he only mean Vortex Doubleshot. Need other sifu to justify other doubleshot keycaps.
*
yes, specifically the vortex doubleshots. Others seem fine, but my vortex set has a bold G, so...

IDK biggrin.gif

Stock vortex keycaps on poker 2? I heard that poker 2 doubleshot high quality.
Or aftermarket vortex keycaps?

It's good to know that vortex keycaps have such defects.
*
Aftermarket ones. Bought from the recent massdrop. I will need to skip out on current ergodox... boh lui....

Do you have account at geek hack??
I think I saw similar comment at there too lol

Nah... geekwhack too elitist. MKB-wise I'm only active here and occasionally in reddit (long live ripster)

Ok, I just thought of this, I should have just gave you guys my requirement from the start and let you guys suggest, so here they are:

1. Blue switches
2. Blue LED backlight
3. Full layout (I need numpad lol)
4. Media keys, including play/pause, previous track, next track (Ducky Zero Shine and Shine 3 fulfill all my requirements except for this one)
5. Standard layout (CM Storm QuickFire Ultimate, Corsair K70, and Tesoro Durandal G1NL definitely don't fulfill this requirement, but fulfills the others stated above)
*
Might wanna consider keycool 108 from taobao/banggood, but they might not have blue LEDs.

ohok..  sweat.gif

anyway what happen to your keyboard?
*
nah, just a hypothetical situation.

lucky i work hard (actually smart+lazy) enough that I afford a new hobby. Also, Dota 2 specs not high and console specs low so my upgrade cycle got deferred many times. never felt like upgrading since my kit can run 1080p just fine with moderate eye candy.

QUOTE(ealt @ Feb 5 2014, 08:27 PM)
Guys,

What do you think of ROCCAT™ Ryos MK Pro – Mechanical Gaming Keyboard With Per-key Illumination...

Any comment?
*
1. No gaming keyboard.

2. No gaming keyboard.

3. LEDs are overrated. I don't game in the dark (I have table lamp and my own room), so I will giveaway my ducky soon.

4. Standard layout FTW cuz you'll have a better time getting modifier keys.

5. LED illuminated keycaps are 99% laser etched coated poly-carb or ABS. PBTs are the preferred choice cuz no shiny (My original keycaps on ducky already shiny after one month usage).

6. LEDs are useless in teamfight cuz you are actually supposed to scan the screen. The whole point of having tactile keys is so that your keypresses are 100% certain.

Still reasonable. Corsair keycaps is already RM20-30 for like 10 keys. RM96 if I ship the ten keys, wrist rest and a key puller from the US. Let me know if you're getting any. biggrin.gif

New colours don't have enough contrast for me. Not that I don't like the colour, but the first gen ones look really nice and outstanding.

ABS maybe ok... as long as not POM.
