Highly bored. Looking for some colourful keycaps (I ordered already) to spice things up. But everybody selling damn expensive keycaps...

As for my real question, what's the cheapest option for a costar stabilizer keyboard? Spacebar feels annoying nowadays :|

hmm, i am guessing keycool? haha!
locally would be rosewill i guess...but that depends if there's stock.
*
New spacebar to replace the one I wrecked, some RGBY keys, and some Dota 2 R1 (or is it R4?) keys because the 104-key massdrop last time doesn't cover my 105th-108th keys and I'm annoyed.

go join rain drop group buy.
you can mod cherry stabs, they feel as same as costar after that.
*
I thought raindrop close dy? But I not entirely like the colours... maybe I will... or not.

too expensive for tkl set.
75usd. about rm255 not including fees and shipping.
*
Hence, no regrets.

Also, how much you charging for co-star stab modding? Gonna mod my KBT TKL first and get that pause key fixed at the same time

He mean cherry stabiliser clipping.

You can't directly mod cherry stabiliser to costar, or the vice versa.

But there are such spreading that clipped cherry stabiliser is as good as costar one.
*
Yeah, I read about the clipping thing.

Anyone here wanna do it for me?

QUOTE(Y.J.S @ Jan 20 2014, 10:46 PM)
1) Is Cherry MX a series of mkb or the name of manufacturer?

2) yeah I don't mind that kind of key caps

3) can you further explain this point?

4)It is a must ! haha

5)what does linear means?

6) Yeah ducky shine is very eye catching biggrin.gif
*
1. Cherry MX is the type of switches. Others include ALPS and Topre, for example.

2. Bad keycaps feel like shit. It's like driving a BMW with plastic seats.

3. Most cherry MX switches have easily replaceable keycaps. So most users will switch from the basic ABS to PBT (probably best feel) or POM. Usually we go for PBT.

4. LED lighting will add about RM80 - RM 90 to your keyboard. Sometimes will add about RM150 - 200, depending on manufacturer

5. Mechanical switches got 2 types; linear and tactile. can be tough, or soft, or very bumpy tactile and very soft tactile also. Some switches have noticeable sound profile also.

6. Ducky shine one of the best LED keyboards around. biggrin.gif

Will stick with full size until I buy a separate numpad for accounting/etc biggrin.gif My target is to spam my DS3 for at least 3-5 years else lol can't justified the chunk of money to my wife, hahaha.

On the money part, lol, absolutely true - I am checking out the taobao site even when I don't read a single Chinese word. Translating one by one via Google Translate and target to get some clear keycaps after CNY.
*
Cheaper to get clear keycaps from signature plastics I think.

But clear keycaps only can get polycarbonate right? IDK if got other materials that can do clear plastics. If you have can you share tongue.gif

cheaper meh?
won't shipping kill u? or if u get cheap shipping, there's a chance ur keycaps is lost in transit.
*
Shipping comes to about 9.75USD for Standard International. I pay using paypal, so the item must arrive for me or I will complain through paypal channels and they will get into more trouble than it's worth (and resend). #evil

QUOTE(ik3da @ Jan 21 2014, 02:50 PM)
Ohh, didn't know that you only have poly clear key caps but seeing the pic from SP, it seems not bad  drool.gif  Gonna check out Youtube to see on how it looks as well, and hmm, USD40 for full set... If I really splurge on it then I gonna add this thread to my list of unhealthy threads in LYN, wallet pain lol.
Thanks for the link bro! Quick check though, any idea how long would it take for them to send the key caps over?
Haha, I am using mostly Firefox - will use my Chrome for it tonight, forgot they have full page translation. My wife actually hates the fact that I am starting to shop more than her nowadays  biggrin.gif
*
That's my main beef with the clear sets. Polycarb. Not sure if I'll be ok with the feels or not.

didn't notice they have a new model  drool.gif and seems it has media keys too !  rclxms.gif

the deck cassium uses a unique double shot keycaps that also works well for led lighted keyboards

user posted image
http://www.mechkb.com/products/deck-hassiu...anical-keyboard

it seems to me that the deck hassium quality is much better than the ducky shine 3..... but what i am not sure is, whether the hassium is comparable to ducky shine 3's led lighting modes ? i am aware the older deck legend could adjust the light brightness, but not sure if it can do the advance modes like strobbing etc that the ducky shine 3 has managed to do perfectly.
*
Hot damn! Looks like the keycaps I've been searching for my whole life!

going to buy my first mechanical keyboard
quick fire stealth or keycool?
*
Both decent. Buy the one you like the look/price. Both also using standard layouts, so there isn't much difference. Both Made in China, probably by the same factory for all we know.

i wanted ergo dox also sad.gif
but not until they have a full led pcb.
*
Who cares about LED. Ergodox is like a throwback to the keyboard I learned how to type properly with two hands (Microsoft Natural Keyboard will always have a place in my cold lifeless heart), so it's 99% nostalgia and 1% I-must-have-this.

Might have gotten the last part wrong though.

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Jan 28 2014, 10:56 AM)
Worth ah. Are you going to buy it?
Since included acrylic case, quite worth.
Since the case is acrylic, we all expecting LED compatibility.  hmm.gif
*
Yeah. Sounds like a good deal. About RM500++ for the PCB+case, then get my own switches when it arrives (wink) and then on to some DSA keycaps from KeycapsDirect.com

Should be gooding.

QUOTE(justnits @ Jan 28 2014, 11:14 AM)
if only 100 ppl join, then u get a USD$200 ergo biggrin.gif

if i were to buy this at USD$199.00, with the blank pbt caps and acrylic with top alu case, it comes up to about USD$300 with shipping sweat.gif
*
Buy own switches man. -44USD ezlief

QUOTE(justnits @ Jan 28 2014, 11:58 AM)
one thing about massdrop is, they use normal post.
the previous massdrop purchase was the vortex doubleshot keycaps.
took em about 1 month to ship to me.
non-tracking mail mind u laugh.gif
it was about USD$3x worth, but if it's 10x the amount, i'm not sure i want a normal, non-tracking postage to me as i've personally lost one package from US before via non-tracking mail.
*
Well, if you go the paypal route, the don't deliver you can claim back. Ez.

I brought my keyboard to my work... which uses a desktop... bring home everyday because scared people steal.

I brought my MKB back home also... Currently in hometown tapping away blissfully while my parents are stuck with their membranes.
