Bros, just noticed, seem like J and G variant use different brakes, G and trd seem bigger and wider brake disc compared with J, anyone can confirm this?
*
j and E have drum brakes while G and TRD have disc brakes for rear while
TRD will basically be technically same as G as TRD ver have eyecandy changes only

sorry to hear this bro. but do drive more carefully these days. And do be more aware especially when someone tailgates your car.

I also noticed alot ppl who pimped their ride to sporty look alike cars, likes to speed or show off.
I had experienced one 2013 Vios TRD tail gated closely behind my Vios.. Actually I laughed at his dumb act. He needs to know having spoilers or bodykit on his vios doesnt make his car perform better.

Both pictures are front wheel brakes, the j front disc brake looks much smaller than G and TRD models, isit?

nv actually parked side by side with my G with E or J before. But I agree the pictures do show the size of the brakes are somewhat different.

My salespersn said theres no such thing. but i thought it would be easier to identify if we have forgotten or missed pressing the lock button on the key.

depends lo... did u mean S+?
honda using cvt have advantage of lower cost to play compare with 4at which sound old but actually more expensive,
and they make door visor, boot tray etc as optional accessories for all model, we have it all even at lowest spec,
except highest spec, city all using 175/65 tyre, vios use 185/60. and i think our J seat have better quality fabric compare with city, city seat feels like saga the fabric loose loose dei, especially sit at back look at front seat's rear.
from just few thing above honda atleast have thousand more cost budget to play at other place.

for high spec, i wouldn't say vios is overprice too, what toyota offer which honda doesn't aren't cheap at all, just they totally aim at wrong place, honda cleverly hit all their arrow at bull-eyes.
for low spec, honda need to remove even alloy rim to make a little cheaper than vios (or same price after vios discount), so i guess they tried their best at really tight "reasonable profit" already.
*
Agreed .

Having drove vios G model and city E model, I still felt vios have a better overall interior. While the exterior vios had a 100% change , the city had a 70% change. At glimpse from certain angle, some may have thought the new city was the previous generation city. Though, the overall champion is still the city due to features at its very competitive price.

agreed...try to knock the dashboard of Honda City with your fingers, the feel is just solid....and if we try to knock on Vios's dashboard, the feel is like cheap hollow plastic....disappointed with Toyota..
maybe because all these years they are leading the sales in the market (non-national car segment) so they don't bother to improve on these (they thought that they can continue to dominate the market) while all the other competitor brands already doing that, not only Honda City, other Korean cars also have very good interior built nowadays.
*
If you sit on the new city for sometime, you will find a bunch of bad feedbacks too. There are mounting issues inside the car and outside the car, cracking sound when trying to offs the engine. Go see for yourself in the comments in the city forums.

Please be fair to all brands , because toyota and honda are not the only one with issues. even CKD BMW cars have major build issues. Overall, I felt disappointed with all ckd built cars.

last weekend i DIY door rubber seal of D and P shape to further improve the poor cabin NVH of our vios.

Bought the rubber seal from here: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2272078&hl=

This is what i did:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

paid like RM100+ for it and DIY for like 2.5hours.

the overall result after driving for few days:
1. The road noise is reduced by around 20-30% i guess.
2. Wind noise reduced around the same as  above 20-30%.
3. Door closing feels more subtle than before

Due to the gap is huge between door metal and the car body rubber, i believe we could apply big D instead of the recommended small D seal.

Guess its a small gesture that helps to improve the cabin comfort. Not a bad product after.
*
Wow! I see you have put in a lot of effort. Do you think I should spend sometime to get it installed too?
since it can be DIY , im tempted to get it too

After retesting the Vios and City for 2nd time yesterday.  Wife decided to settle for a city. She says Vios underpowered compared to city. So that was it. Booked city.
Bye bye, god car!
And thanks guys for your infos!

Cheers.

Saw a new city just now with a light bulb/night light on the rear right side didn't turn on.
I doubt on the quality now seeing the price is so competitive and taking the fact we are in bolehland hmm.gif

toyota sc didn't even called me back regarding my roof insulation issue. doh.gif

that day my mom thought got accident nearby when a random drop of water hit the roof loudly. sleep.gif

anyway not sure if i shared this, but that day when i did my 5k service, i felt that my handbrake was extremely tight, so when toyota called me and ask how's everything after the service, i asked about my handbrake.

he then said that "oh we tighten it because previously it was too high, it's dangerous when it's too high".

ok fine by me, but why didn't they tighten it during the first service? doh.gif

no eye see.

I am ok with the noise level of vios eventhough many of you complaining about that.

There are some drawback of this vios but i chose vios over city. City has vsa and vios dont but i can live with that.

Getting a new car can be a tough decision, there are a lot of choices out there, each different car manufacturer has something unique to offer and there are so many points to consider before committing to a new vehicle..but at the end only go test drive the car,,u will buy it when u feel comfortable when drive the car smile.gif

Am planning to buy a new Vios but I heard from one of the Hyundai SA (who has a Toyota SA friend) that J spec would take another 2 months to arrive (new batch I assume). Any possibility of Toyota fixing the issues with noisy dashboard and etc with the new batch? I gave up reading when I have reached around page 30. Please enlighten me tongue.gif
*
The arrival date maybe true or even faster cause most of the time car sellers will push it for hari raya demand.
Go speak with ur toyota salesperson , tell him all the issues you know about and make him sign an agreement that such issue won't appear. They cant say NO to the fact that many people had gave the proof of the Noise.

looking for korean? IMO I wont buy Korean cars in my life, gave up with them already especially if you are concern about resale values. If you meet any Korean SA they most probably will say that the korean car sales is increasing so no worries on resale value. Sold a Korean car and lost alot , even more than local Malaysian cars. Few of my colleagues also lost alot selling their Korean cars. Cant beat the fact that demand and parts are still low in number.

QUOTE(drakzero @ Jun 8 2014, 01:59 AM)
Two questions I have regarding that.

1. Can we even ask them to sign an agreement?
2. Ultimately, they would not be able to do anything about the problem we face, no? They can't possibly offer a 1 to 1 replacement and we will be redirected to SC wouldn't we?
*
I believe Toyota will have the issue fixed in the new batch. If they do not, they could be in trouble for selling defective cars to the buyers and ruin their reputation even more if the complains reaches the Product Quality organizations.
They would not want to ruin their sales target too.

So how do we know the car you get is from a new batch or issues have been solve? No way, unless the Salesperson tells you, but even if he tells you..you can't beleive 100% in his words. The only way to guarantee what you get is to write a BLACK & WHITE agreement. It is sme simple written agreement with his signature in it. You may use the agreement and sent it to the headquarters , etc etc. Worse case if he doesn't agree, dont buy from him.

Some salesperson would direct you to ask the engineers as they do not want to answer your questions. Anyway, we all know the fact they are not the boss, they are just sellers, so.. they can't fix problems but they do able to queue you into the order and assign what batch of car you will receive (with consideration of the date you would want to receive your car).

So far I have never heard there are any 1to1 car replacements, most of the times will be parts replacement.

Hopefully they will get it fixed with the next batch. Will probably go and test drive the car this two weeks. Will ask if there's any news of them fixing the problem. Are these the only problems with the car?

1. Noisy dashboard when going through bumps
2. Hollow sound from car boot
3. Poor sound insulation during rain (can we even ask for warranty for this?)
*
Yes, these are the 3 common complaints that can be seen here in the forum.

Am still wavering between 2014 Vios and City. In the forum itself it seems like there is very little problem with the new City but the car is relatively new so it can't be compared too well yet.

Al the problems with the current Vios seems to be more NVH/comfort-based which can be and will be solved eventually. Maybe a few not-so-well placed mountings and insulation?

I am prioritizing fuel efficiency and maintenance cost over most features offered by both. Is the sound problem with the car really unbearable? City's design is nice and all but I have a thing for Vios, although its new incarnation does not look as nice xD
*
Im driving the G but I have no complaints bout the cabin sound even when driving 110km/h except when theres rain..
well, not sure if my standard is same as yours.

Overall still happy with my ride. at least the common roof and engine mount complaints can be fixed.

Roxy how long have you been driving your Vios? Am going to have my test drive on Friday, any condition that I need to simulate those knocking/annoying sounds that anyone here is facing? I hope that they have a new batch that solves the problem. Is there any new Vios owner here with less apparent noise issue?
*
just drive over a small sinkhole or doublehump, it will increase your chances to get the sound. if theres none, a hump will also do. Drive more than 20km/h with minimal brake.
