Yes you can.  But within that long journey from Osaka to Tokyo.  If you take Unreserve seat, if you move away from your seat to toilet. Someone can take over your seat.

You have to standing all the way to Tokyo already.  smile.gif  smile.gif

Oh like that still okay..then i wait for other people go toilet and take over the seat icon_idea.gif

eh, what about the icoca refund. I should be able to get a refund for Icoca and purchase shinkansen ticket at Shin-Osaka JR office right, is it from the same counter?

Just came back from a few days trip to Kusatsu, Karuizawa and Izu. Its mostly a nature trip. It was just a relaxing onsen trip and did not do much planning besides booking the hotel. As I bought JR Kanto pass, I can be very flexible with my time and go where I feel like going. Surprisingly, shinkansen was not really pack and I can reserved seats on the spot.

That rise of 8% sales tax gives big impact.
My GW plan will be Gero Onsen with company college

Looks like most of people plan go Onsen relax in this GW. Spent less and still enjoy.

From Hyperdia, the ticket price for unreserved seat for Nozomi from Shin-Osaka to Tokyo is 13,620 yen. Just to confirm, is there any extra fee that I need to pay? Thanks

I bought some Kit Kats from Nishiki Market in Kyoto for about 300 yen each, quite a good deal I must say. I also bought some I Love Kyoto shirts at 1000 yen each at the market. Uniqlo in Japan has really good deals as well, about 990 yen for a cute Line t-shirt. Also bought Kobe cheese cakes at about 800 yen per box. Japan is home to really cute stuff!

I bought my return tickets from Air Asia 2 months in advance at RM821 including airport tax and luggage. As my colleague is working in Japan, I managed to get free stay for my 6 days there. Hence the cheap trip.

I spent most of my money on transportation there. Stayed in Oiwake Guchi, so I had to take the bus each time I wanted to go to the Kusatsu train station with each bus journey to be 230 yen. As I traveled mainly to Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto, I used the Icoca card which I loaded with 10,000 yen (and got a refund of 400 yen on my last day). As for food, I normally ate street food in markets with occasional restaurant trips for okonomiyaki. All in all I spent about RM1.2k with the remaining money spent on souvenirs. Of course this only comes with free accommodation that I had while I was there.

we got our green kit kats for 180 yen in Osaka (big pack, big sales), actually not a fan of it, too sweet, give people who have sweet tooth ok lah. Wouldn't bother with Uniqlo, their stuff are quite expensive and super boring, not to mention malaysia also have their branch. Kobe cheese cakes are NOT worth that money, actually not worth any money AT ALL cause it's not that good, don't have fragrance of cheese cakes, can get much better home made cheese cakes in malaysia costing much less.

Where/which shop did you buy it from? I was told a box cost around RM60. Inside got 10 miniboxes with 4 sticks. So total per box is 40 sticks. But I think that's probably at the airport.

If I take Nozomi from shin osaka (depart 5.10pm) to tokyo (arrive 7.40pm) and then take JR to Ueno, will I get caught up with the rush hour crowd?

If I want to get a glimpse of Mt Fuji during the train ride, what is the latest possible time should I depart from shin-osaka?

Thanks

Another thing--the ticket will have specified time so if I missed that train, I cannot get on the next train anymore?

Yes, you can. But only in the non-reserved section.

http://www.japan-guide.com/forum/quereadisplay.html?0+81731

Meaning if i buy the unreserved seat, i can get on the next train if i missed the printed one?
