Z2 definitely. Z1C is too small for most Galaxy Note 2/3 users.

True, my smallest phone now is G2. But I still have to try this phone myself to justify.

Hi!

I have been following this thread for a while and finally i registered to ask you for advice. My situation is: i am from spain but i have acquaintances in KL willing to make me a favor and they are coming here on 23rd of march. The prices you are talking about are rm1800 or even rm1600, which compared with the ~rm2450 (540€) here, the safe well worth to ask for the favour smile.gif

then my options are: order it from directd for rm1600 right now, but i dont have any reference about the store and i wont see the phone until it will be too late and too far for any claim.

my second option would be to hope it will be sold in the official sony store before 23rd and send him to get it physically. this would be rm1800, but it is my favourite choice, i am more confident about the official store.

so, would you bet they will be able to get it before 23rd? is directd trustful enough to risk to order it?

i also concern about the phone itself, do malaysian phones include english language by default? are they internationally standard? i guess in the sony center they sell it completely free of operator and unlocked, so i will be able to put any other rom when available without zone restrictions... am i right about this or all my plan is a big fail and i would get a very nice brick from 11000km away?

Thank you very much!

1)If you order it from directed it is definitely ap which means that the warranty of the phone cant be claim through sony,it only can be claim through the seller or ap company itself.
2)Directed is a trusted seller but if you were to ask about warranty,I doubt that the ap warranty service is bad.
3)The phone itself would be in English by default
4)If you buy an ap one it will cost you 1.6k but if you buy it from Sony or any retailer that is dynamics which means warranty from Sony itself then it would cost you 1.8k.

I hope that would help you.please keep in mind that ap and dynamics are original phone just that the warranty is different.

- I dun think the phone will be readied in Sony Store by 23 March.

- If you gonna use it in Spain, either AP or Ori set warranty are useless to you. You can't claim Sony Spain for Sony malaysia set anyway....

- If you worry about Malaysia's set. then you even more reason to get an AP (imported) set. Since they are imported from other countries... laugh.gif

- None phone in Malaysia is carrier locked.

In my honest opinion, it's better to hold ur horses and wait for the Z1 Compact to launch and start selling officially in Spain. Why?

1) Warranty. I don't think Ori Xperia sets for Sony has international warranty. This is an expansive gadgets to invest in, just afraid that problems will occur after purchasing, then warranty becomes a problem since it does not have an international warranty. If I'm not mistaken, you can't claim warranty from Sony Spain if you bought a Sony Malaysia set of Z1 Compact.

2) Support. Problem might occur when upgrading firmware since the phone originates from a different country. For example, maybe Sony Spain rolls out 4.4 earlier but Sony Malaysia delays 1 month for 4.4 update. Then you might have to wait.

3) Tax? Not sure about Spain's policy. Maybe your friend might get taxed while trying to carry a brand new sealed Z1 Compact by Spain custom.

For a peace of mind, in my opinion, it's better to buy original sets from your local Sony distributor. biggrin.gif

thank you for your advices, i have change my mind and if i do it, i will do it with directd, if the only difference is that it is imported, i can definitely live with that smile.gif

the dark points now are the warranty, which i had already renounced when i got the idea, and the updates. its true i would like to have the latest spanish software asap, but i trust xda for the latest updates and the language its not a deal breaker.

btw, @Godevil you have said phones in malaysia are not carrier blocked, but do you know if they lock the bootloader? in the begining i will only use official sony's roms (with my current phone, xperia ray, i have installed sony's roms from diferent countries without problem being locked), but maybe in the future, when sony drop the support, i will want to use alternative roms and i am not sure how to deal with the bootloader

@briantwj, i have no doubt about buying it here would be much better, those rm800 must worth something... and about tax, i dont pretend to have a sealed box, i will even let him use it before bring it to me, i just want the phone for a price as low as i could get... smile.gif

so, have anybody purchased this phone from directd? do you know which country come them from and the screen provider for the black one?

thank you very much for your help funny duck, Godevil and briantwj, you are very kind!

btw, what does AP actually mean? i presume it implies it is imported, but i dont get the real menaing...

Ori stand for Original Products. The products mainly imported directly from the manufacturer and distributed by the Manufacturer Authorized Distributors/Companies to the dealers/resellers. Then it will resell to the consumers.

AP stand for Approval Products. The products mainly parallel imported from oversea usually by small scale companies and distributed to the dealers/resellers. Then it will resell to the consumers.

Different Between Ori and AP:-

Ori Set = You can claim the phone warranty at any Manufacturer Authorized Service Centres. Genuine parts are used for repairing.

AP Set = You must bring the phone back to the shop you bought for warranty. Any spare parts available in the market are used for repairing unless special request.

Seems like you've made up your mind. thumbup.gif If u can overlook the warranty problem, AP sets are good enough. Plus, you get to save some $$ too. icon_idea.gif

Anyway, probability of getting a faulty set with the current Sony Qc standards should be quite low. Thats why I bought an Ap set. laugh.gif

The seller claim that this is an improved version for the previous first gen. Dont know whether true or not. But no matter what Rm50 for the cable is cheaper than buying the whole dock from Sony.
