TBH we can always sign a pre-contract first for him to join in the summer. But if we can get him now who am I to complaint.  thumbup.gif

Yup, I think that was the plan, as his replacement (Sam) will only arrive in summer.
But the injury to Walcott might have changed everything. Maybe Wenger wants to push the deal, you know, like what he did with Monreal.

ransfer news: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says January signing unlikely
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9129348/

Let's face it, we're not gonna sign any players as long as Chelsea and Man City isn't in the market signing players. Wenger is monitoring the trasfer windows of other teams very closely. And with Chelsea having released Mata, there's no hurry to sign another player in Wenger's eye.

The only way we get to see another player is if one of our main guns; either Wilshere, Ozil or Cazorla is out injured the next game. Then we will see new signings.

I don't see the logic why we need to wait somebody to sign someone

Because why spend unnecessarily when the number of critiques outweighs the chances of winning the league. Think about it, More People will criticize if the team is not performing well having signed a new player. It's like saying you buy new players therefore you must win the league now. ManCity is a good example. Mourniho has a point when he says all pressure is on Mancity's Pellegrini having sign an atrocious number of players during the summer. If they don't win the league, everyone on the planet will question and gun down Pellegrini.

The shift of power at the moment is well-balanced with top 4 not signing anyone. It is up to our players to perform well throughout the season is what Wenger is thinking now.

As fans, we all hope Arsenal will sign a player so as to strengthen the chances of winning the league. If we did buy, all eyes will be on Arsenal to win the league. therefore the amount of pressure is higher. Wenger doesn't want to mount that amount of pressure on his players.

Might not be logical for you but it certainly is logical to Schalke. Seems like we want the player but Schalke is reluctant.

Draxler is perhaps one of the first names on their teamsheet and you don't simply let one of those go without having a replacement. Plus its the middle of the season and their fighting for a Champions League spot. Moreover their replacement, Sidney Sam will only arrive in the summer.

Its like us selling RVP to United mid way through the season instead of end of the season. Would you have approved of that?

We want to do business but not Schalke, and its understandable given the timing and circumstances.

i believe our case is not to be compared with those that signs just for the sake of raking in the best players. we need to sign because we clearly needs another striker.

and when u need someone, u dont wait. having players available onot is another story

u do what u need to do. how to win if we just wait for others to move and make our chances of winning the league remains stagnant if there is no one moving?

Wouldn't it be funny if this goes on to deadline day and Jose pulls the plug on the transfer at the last min like he did with Ba? Their heads would literally explode. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Well, the thing is, we don't have 'unlimited money' like certain clubs with sugar daddy sponsorship. We need to be extra careful with the funds available.
Just like what Wenger always said, it almost impossible for us to compete with them in the transfer market. At least, not until this season.

And yes, it is indeed we really need another striker. We know it, Wenger knows it. But the problem is, who is available? Berbatov? We can't just pay millions of pounds+huge wages just to land a stop-gap player like him. Benteke? He might costs 20m+. Is he really worth that much? I doubt it. Vucinic? sweat.gif

I believe, if we do sign someone, we will go big again. For a long-term solution, not a stop-gap.

Ok I got your point now. Honestly, I don't know it either, maybe its all about faith. Maybe Wenger believes he can win the league with the current players.
Furthermore, up until now, only Chelsea have signed new player (Matic), which I don't think will play a big role to them or give major difference in their title chase.

Btw, I believe plenty of works already done/being done as we speaks. But as we know, its not easy to get top player in January.
About money, I think its not a problem for us. We have plenty to burn, only IF the right player is available.

Lets hope for the best. Just over a week to wait now. I hate transfer window.

Yup. At least, after Ozil we know that anything is possible now. brows.gif

And other football related news:
- Sandro Rosell resigns as Barca president following the Neymar transfer lawsuit.
- Falcao is about to miss the World Cup after tearing his ACL last night. sweat.gif
