Wow... I didn't know that this thread is still active to date.
Rubber market price dropped a lot recently and I heard it might drop even more this year. That's why you get roughly 20% - 30% discount compared to Q4 2013.
As a user of this tyre for almost 15 months and travelled at least 22k km, I'll summarized my experience with this tyre below:
Pros:
1. Performing well when the tyres still have 100% to approx. 70% thread.
2. Considered quiet even until now which left around 38% thread. (Yes, I'm still using them).
3. Save a little petrol.
4. Acceptable stopping power, even in some of the low speed (around 40km/h) emergency brake.
5. I feel that the car has lower FC when driving on wet tar road (raining).
6. Aquaplaning is acceptable for my driving style.
7. Cornering is considered good for energy efficient tyres. (It was better than AR10 when it was new. Performance dropped as the thread wears off. AR10 was more consistent.)
8. During Nov 2013, it was only RM160 per piece.
Cons:
1. Hard compound and hard sidewall = less comfort on Malaysia's road with tons of hidden holes.
2. Need more effort to brake. This is expected from energy efficient tyre.
3. Make a lot of squeaking noise on cement road (parking lot).
4. Occasionally, skid a little on wet surface. (Eg: When stopping down to get parking ticket while entering parking lot. It was raining and the cement road was wet. It happened to me once.)
5. Getting more slippery now with around 38% thread left. Have to be more light footed in cornering during rain.
6. Save a little petrol. I was expecting it to save a lot more petrol to compensate the sacrifices in grip as well as other performance.
Before you ask me whether I'll consider to replace with similar tyre when it's time to change, the answer is "NO". First of all, I want to explore other tyres and the reason I am still exploring because I haven't found a suitable one till today. Besides that, this is the first time I'm using energy efficient tyres and I realise that EP200 occasionally skid issue (although little bit) is causing me to cut away a lot of points.
I'm considering to change to the Pirelli P1, 185/60 R14 (not many choices for 14"). I was told that this tyre has very good aquaplaning, control and good thread wear. However, Pirelli tyres are well known for being more noisy.
