What browser? Chrome? I hardly use that browser anymore because it will cause the temperature to shoot up. Safari is faster and better at least on OS X.

Yeah I use Chrome on Windows but Safari on OS X.

I have to use that since I need to run some Windows application.

I realize sometimes the temperature of my MBP went up until very high even though I'm just browsing the web.
*
Same with mine, I use MS and safari and the temp went up like crazy!

And I wonder is there any way to boost up the battery life of my MBP when I'm running Windows?
I have only like 3 hours battery life on Windows but 11+ hours on OS X.

Nothing much you can do about it. You can get long battery life on OS X because it is optimized to run on the hardware. As for Windows, turning off visual effects and using Power Saver might save battery life. Also check out the Intel Graphics Control Panel.

This makes me disappointed actually. The reason I thought of getting MBP is because of the battery life. I've already turned off all the visual effects and use Power Saver when it is running on battery. hmm.gif

From what I search on the net, it seems like Windows 8.1 consume the most battery compared to Windows 8 and Windows 7. hmm.gif

Too bad it doesn’t work that way man, you should’ve bought a Windows laptop if you want better battery life. Mac hardware and Boot Camp drivers are not optimized for Windows, hence the poor battery life.

Why did you buy a mac to use it with MS Windows? Isn't that quite purpose defeating?

Did you really gotten only 3 hours out of running Windows and 11 hours out of running OS X or did you see that from the gauge on the top right corner?

Try this.

Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings > Processor power management > Maximum processor state > On battery

Change it to 5%

You might be able to get an additional 30-60 minutes at the expense of some performance.

You can try using Parallels or VMWare Fusion and run it only when you need Windows apps.

I'm running windows with boot camp. As I required some of the apps that only available in Windows.

Ya it only has 3 hours battery life when I'm running windows.

Will it be better compared to dual boot?
From what I know, the performance is not that good compared to dual boot. How about the battery life?

Less than Boot Camp since you're running two OSes at the same time.

It depends on what you're trying to do. If you're using MS Office, development software, surfing, it'll be perfectly fine. Even some AAA games work with minor performance impact.

VMs have come a long way.

Try deleting com.apple.FaceTime.plist in Preferences folder.

Repairing permissions might help.
