Really outdated some ppl. Whats the point having the best interface when it keeps you blind whats coming infront but only give u directions? Sometimes direction also wrong and must manually update?

The purpose of a tool is to use it to your advantage not to show off yes i have a cool interface that maps always get outdated and doesnt give me more benefits

waze would be the best if it reports every single direction like the MyVi GPS.... especially at some road, it won't mention to keep left or go straight even though it is not a highway exit, therefore a good sense of road names is also needed when using waze, can't just rely upon the voice command like MyVi...

both. You dont need to stare 1 hour on the gps while driving. Reach the turn just have quick have a peak because my phone is 5.5 inch and 5.8inch to make sure the path leads to which junction.

u guys seldom travel or always use gps to circle around your neighborhood requires more amazing interface.

For frequent travel we need more features like live traffic, advance searching options as of now only WAZE have it. No point looks good but always get you lost or cant find the place.

Or u using old generation phone could be the cause too weaker gps module?

Its the data line problem. Not the gps signal.
When thunderstorms come u cant find the location at all due to the weak data line. Has got nothing to do with gps as the phone sends in ur gps signal to waze server to update your location

I tried both but end up still use WAZE.

WAZE also alot shortcut but depending on the setting you put like avoid highway, avoid tolls, Shortest time and fastest time it affect how to the gps reroute to your destination. If mau alot shortcut change it to avoiding hiighway and toll then put shortest time.

Sorry to say but I still prefer Nokia Maps over Waze here.

1 reason, Nokia maps don't need DATA connection. It beats waze hands down, oh not to mention. Nokia maps have live traffic reporting capabilities too.

Waze for more up-to-date maps and shortcuts.

I've moved to a brand new neighbourhood for 6 month. Its been completed for more than a year, possibily two and yet GMaps still doesn't have it. Waze have it from the beginning. Headache when people want to come to my house.

u guys seldom travel or always use gps to circle around your neighborhood requires more amazing interface.

For frequent travel we need more features like live traffic, advance searching options as of now only WAZE have it. No point looks good but always get you lost or cant find the place.
*
I always use it around the city area since I don't know my way around at all.
So far Google & Apple maps have been accurate. As for traffic, Google maps includes traffic as well.

In fact, I don't know why I bother joining this maps-fanboy thread... I'm sure most users who are supporting one side has not spent sufficient time testing out the other apps anyway. Totally one sided, no one makes proper comparisons or provide constructive criticism doh.gif

edit- Also I run my navigations on 2G only. After an hour of jam with GPS turned on, I still have >80% battery left
Also a reason that I have never used a powerbank since using smartphones for 5-6 years. Never once.

Waze can take you to holland as well. Lately I was facing some weird directions.

Eg. 1. Wanting to go kelana jaya LRT station. I'm on Jln Majlis, suppose to turn left on LDP, crazy Waze told me to turn right.

Eg. 2. Wanting to go Puchong from KL. I took Mex, Waze told me to exit at Putra Jaya instead of Bukit Jalil. When I exited and waited at the Sri petaling traffic light to u-turn into Kesas, Waze still tells me to go straight and turn towards the city, into NPE.

When I go places that dun have internet connection the PND is a life saver.
PND, with its turn-by-turn voice navigation is good when you are driving alone in unknown territories. You dun have to look at the screen at all!!

i suspect this is face problem? Possible? Never have such issue except if your car got strong tinting would effect beside that. Sometimes gps does that because its routing to another route or u-turn is turn off. as i said do you think possible face problem?

you funny dude you said you not fanboy but clearly fanboy.

The problem if you only use 1 gps your perspective and understand limited to 1. Try use different gps because so obvious you trying talk kok mr. fanboy.

If you wanna make comparison also make a proper or constructive comparison not blindly support?

2nd Dont believe me ask those who say they dont use the powerbank mostly they buy phone to standby or not much friends on social networks so their phone tend to last that long. Dont believe me google for your phone manufacturer and see what the average battery drain.

3rd GPS only drop 20% you think apa from your house drive 5mins then nah i only drop 20% isnt that a joke? Please go make your research If you are using an old phone possible most modern or current phones are running dual or quad core or octa core so their processor are more powerful so it tend to make more battery but faster to complete the task. Even you are on 2G network the screen needs power, audio needs power and gps needs power.

4th Please go research how google traffic works no point blindly support its hard to explain to you since you never try others.

We have nothing against other gps but as of now after trying we feel waze is better because of the live traffic reporting not showing your fanboys but pretend not a fanboy but you are the pure fanboy get it?

oh besides lack of junction view, another thing i hate about waze is the search function

1 ) i can't search a shop name of "sin lean heang" at certain states. let's say i am at kedah now, but i going penang, and want to search for that shop which is located at penang, i can't specifically search the shop at penang

2) waze will not search everything i type. it will search each part of the word and give me the result. what i mean is if let's say i search "sin lean heang" it will give me the result of any POI with the name of "sin" "lean" "heang" inside . hence, whatever shop name that is "hua sin", "leng heang" ect ect all will pop up

do u guys get what i mean? lol

for papago usually won't like that, but you need to be very specific with the name. if the name you key in is correct, but inside the map it's another name then you are gone.

hence i hope waze can let me search a POI of certain state, and then gives me the option to choose all words must be match when i search something

WAZE should be outlawed until it is updated to work with ONLY voice command!!!!! This mofo app is making people to use hand held devices while driving!!!! so yes -- it should be BANNED immediately.

Same problem here. laugh.gif

I only will use Waze to go to major locations like shopping malls or my office or home.

Anyone using Lokatoo here? brows.gif
*
second that.

For me waze is good GPS tool, except for that problem & no junction view.
1 more thing is, which I face quite a few time is, the route should be able to just go straight but waze will pin point u to turn left into the small road & come back out to the main road.
Which is unnecessary as there is no traffic at all, & u thought it was actually route you through another road to destination.

Also another thing is, if u are facing a ring-road with overbridge ahead as well, the direction will be quite fark up.

All GPS can just be meant as a reference, can't be fully trusted on it.

yea, ban waze immediately.

google maps, apple maps, nokia maps, standalone gps device all tak pa

anyway, talking about this, i find that waze function of "cannot type during driving unless passenger" is even more dangerous. because when driver want to type something and that pop up came off, it actually takes away the driver attention more to bypass it by saying he is the passenger =.='

oh besides lack of junction view, another thing i hate about waze is the search function

*
one thing good about garmin is u can search night market, pasar malam, and alot of option will appear
i cant see this in waze
waze dont even have favoure restaurant to choose for

but free what, what can do, waze is very very fast, map noned download, impressive

LoL... ya.
That is why now I'm not really fully follow waze, only use it as a reference.

Google map was ok, but sometimes it takes a bit of time to do re-routing, mine using much longer time to re-route than waze.

YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO BE PRESSING WHILE DRIVING. Your intelligence got trolled so badly by a gps software.

It only appear when it detects you are on the move if you are stationery it wont appear.

If tak ada is dangerous that the main cause of accident. Cant understand small brain ppl

No, he won't. he will bypass the pop up and fool the device and say he is the passenger so he can continue type.

so, what's the point of that pop up then?

The function of the location of the police should be taken out. Its very helpful to criminals to evade the police. For average joe, if you doing nothing wrong, you dont need that.

So Waze is a must have for criminals to avoid police block.

my "godlike" vcool tint prevented me from using GPS on board hence I have to study the map before I navigate through the city. But how about traffic? An experienced KL city driver would know which road will jam most of the time and some of them even know which route to take to avoid the jam hence their navigating skills are good, sometimes better than Waze.

GPS Apps have blind the people on the basic of navigating, try not to use it too much yeah?

For example:
101.714658, 3.156789 (i google map klcc and got this)

Must key in the 101 coordinate first. If the other way round, you will get some 10,000km away location.

Take a look how Waze takes a much longer totally unnecessary route as compare to google map.

Destination - LRT Station Kelana Jaya
It is so close to LDP, only need to turn left on LDP to arrive at destination and yet it ask to turn right on Jalan SS4A/1 to somewhere then join back with LDP

Normally I will have 3 MAPs ready before I travel to a place...

City (Waze) - Where you are familiar with the road and you need live traffic + avoid police.
Outstation City (Google Map+Waze) - Better in terms of searching for POI
Long distance (Papago) - less headache... key in the destination... less worry about the online/offline...

anyway, talking about this, i find that waze function of "cannot type during driving unless passenger" is even more dangerous. because when driver want to type something and that pop up came off, it actually takes away the driver attention more to bypass it by saying he is the passenger =.='
*
that is why I mention === it should only allow voice command for the app - that way its not dangerous ---

GPS and maps = you set the destination and listen to the voice navigator. Waze is an app that wants users to update the app with traffic conditions! You see the problem here. The problem is not using the app to get to your destination. its when users update the app that creates the problem. If the app use only voice command to update traffic info - I am all good!

For example:
101.714658, 3.156789 (i google map klcc and got this)

Must key in the 101 coordinate first. If the other way round, you will get some 10,000km away location.

lol, i don't know what kind of your mind is if you think it's like terms and condition

and i say most drivers will ignore. i never say me. also , for you is not doesn't mean everyone in the world is like that.

i think the best is totally disable the option to type when driving, but then it again, i think they won't do that because many people will stop using it.

i prefer google map, they have the navigational system already. and it lets you know whether to take the ramp or not unlike waze, last minute only tells you to take which exit/junction. it follows the road accurately, but too accurate you tend to miss out the correct road

i dont understand what's wrong with you doesnt mean because you are a fanboy you expect everyone to be like you. in reality, if you are a fanboy it only applies to you. I cant stop you acting as a kid.

Because an adult know the difference and they clarify clearly the benefits of pros and cons.

A kid and fanboy like yourself will argue for the sake of arguing see the difference. By the way since you are a fanboy you need to make it clear to yourself non of the developers pay money for you to support blindly its your choice.

Hope this clarify your confusion if you wanna be a fanboy keep to yourself, no one will laugh at you but boasting you are a fanboy just making yourself looks like a fool.

Lastly for a fanboy, it depends on individual needs for a kid like yourself probably you use to show off, but for adults in reality they want the gps to bring them to point A to point B and also try it best to avoid traffic.

See the difference, for showing off waze unable to fulfill your needs, most probably you need apple maps.

But for daily use, some prefer waze, some prefer google, some prefer nokia drive so different people have different needs. For a kid and fanboys hope you understand different people have different needs not everyone are like you.

Let people decide what they want. I am a frequent traveler so after using so many navigation maps, i decided waze is my preferable choice to suit my needs not you keep showing off that you are a fanboy. Even you wanna blindly support its your choice.

Hope this clarify your confusion in yourself.

If you refer frontpage the reason are listed there why waze is my preferred choice not wall of text you blindly support your apple maps or some garmin device and etc

Lol...
& if there anyone who recall, there is 1 road towards kepong Jusco.
That road supposedly when you came out from a small road you will meet a 2 way traffic road.
So obviously, that road can only be turn left. But waze smart enough to tell me to go straight passing the 2 way traffic.

waze is only usefull if u want to avoid jams/accident route...hence they choose route that were longer than u normally use to avoid jams....as for me even i have waze....rarely using it....normally before taking those highways check for traffic updates only...for the rest i prefer nokia drive/here+ whistling.gif

Police, accident, traffic reporting is best. But GPS? You might as well use a normal map.

And forget using the "Store Locator" thingy (to find petrol stations, restaurants, etc). It's so bad, they can somehow "skip" one of the banks nearby and show you a further one. sweat.gif

waze is accurate if not peak hour in terms of eta. It does not calculate the whole journey properly. Most of time it will increase the ETA continuously due to jam along the way. Example peak hour from klcc to damansara, it will usually estimate 40mins but when reach destination, end up 60mins to 90mins. Perhaps the journey is still fastest but who knows right? Maybe in beginning of journey, it is wrong as it doesn't calculate the whole jam along way or maybe its correct but jam start midway.

What I love of waze is its quick logic to recalculate and the choice to give alternate routes so I can change route or compare on the fly based on km or ETA. So far maps are accurate except for road blocks which can't avoid.

It helped me avoid the recent mahameru landslide ... yay!

Some bugs are when you miss a turn or want to take new way, it will recalculate and tell you to u-turn back to original route... so I end the navigation and restart navigation to get next fast route

Is there a way to set Waze to screen off when not active (eg drive 20km), then to come on again when reaching a turning?

Something like Nokia OVI maps.

But dunno can save battery or not. laugh.gif
